Secondary comment, building on my last since you didn't/couldn't spend too much time covering the tower shield. The tower shield has a hidden extra attack. Well, okay, all melee weapons have the block-push/bash attack, but for the shield it's a whole other beast. The tower shield block-bash does an overhead Strikedown attack, perfect for getting headshots, dealing a really good chunk of damage to anything not melee-resistant like a maniac or smasher. It can usually 1-shot most hordes and grunts, and 2-shot most human-type specialist. To add to this: It is the perfect combination for the Brutal Momentum perk, which gives several seconds of practically unlimited cleave after a weakshot kill. Go into a horde by bopping the first unlucky SOB over the head like you're Homey D. Clown and then start swinging for the bleachers. This perk pairs beautifully with the Confident Strikes perk, which grants bonus Toughness on repeated hits. Since the damage of the average light swing is... not great, even poxwalkers will proc you a little extra shielding, all while being pushed around. Thunderstrike and Skullcrusher Strikes works in a similar fashion; if you hit someone that is staggered, you give them a massive stacking debuff, either piling on more damage or weaking their resistance to further staggers. An undocumented feature: The shield bash (hold right, tap left) counts as a hit; an enemy proving too tough to one-tap can be brought low by bullying him for a few seconds to pile on debuffs before the whappening. The shield's defensive power is controlled by your Stamina; getting several relics that boost stamina is a MUST. I'd suggest digging out two +3s and a +20% HP for Grim runs. The extra stamina will help you advance under fire, pick up allies without being hurt, and (after putting the shield away) keep pace with the fastest little'un. The right build for Ogryn's is a speedrunner - my personal best Sedition Magistratum Obuilette is 10 minutes. Deploying the shield blocks ALL damage, and allows you to, if you're not being hit, regenerate stamina and toughness slowly. BE CAREFUL. While deployed, you are defended from melee on all sides, but ranged attacks to your flanks will slip through and damage toughness. Even if you're just blocking, if EITHER your stamina OR toughness run out, your block will falter and you'll be left to Nurgle's tender mercies. Thankfully, taking hits regenerates stamina, so you can get your block back up, but at what cost? Block, advance on shooters, plant and wait while your allies flank. You are a wall the enemy cannot resist shooting at, and sometimes the best defense you can provide your team is soaking up all the offensive firepower coming back.
Tip for comment readers, the slab shield's special action plants the shield and gives you near infinite block, likely the best way to tank Daemonhost hits for a team to kill it.
man the kickback looks like a beast, i wonder if it has reload based perks see that's the thing about these weapons, testing them without perks and blessings VS with them, is a massive difference half the time, you can make up for their downfalls and then them into a good, possibly even better weapon then what else is on offer
Ripper II is actually full auto when braced basically. Also it does a LOT more damage then the other two. Also keep in mind you can chain light&heavy attacks. This lets you skip unwanted attacks. It makes huge difference for some weapons.
The security from the slab shield was REALLY nice when I was just learning the game, but yeah I agree the damage is pretty underwhelming. I mostly use the Bully Club, sometimes the shield just for old times sake.
The sad state of this game right breaks my heart this was the game the one we all wanted to be the thing that makes Warhammer more popular and get us better games and things for it. But it was sent out early for whatever reason and died off its sadding it hurts so much to see it happen and there is nothing we can do about it. Only hope left really is space marine 2 and henry cavils show while I trust henry the space marine 2 game needs to be good
Program a mouse macro button for left click 500ms for frame perfect heavy attacks. When using the shield, light - heavy - light - heavy will have you sweeping a horde into a corner. Pair with a grenade gauntlet with +3 rending impact for specialist/armored kills.
I originally thought the kickback was pretty much worthless but I got a REALLY good roll on one and decided to try and use it. It's actually kind of on par with the rumbler imo. The best use of the rumbler is AOE stagger from melee out to a pretty long distance, with some okay damage as a bonus. The kickback does more stagger and more damage just less consistently. The kicker is that it does the AOE stagger instantly VS the delay on the rumbler. Ever have that group of three elite gunners just ruining your day? Just click once and BAM, they're all stumbling for the next 4 seconds. Still works if they're some stupid distance out. It just needs to have a pellet hit, which can be an issue with a sniper WAY out there. Big issue is that it's nearly useless for crushers. It can knock them on their ass but it does basically no damage.
Just in time for the hotfix patch making non-knife weapons actually able to benefit from those 6 seconds of attack speed after the bull rush. Not that it actually changes anything about how you would go about using them, but it is nice that the cleaving weapons can do their job that much better now. Anyways, a useful trick for the Ogryn's many, many gun bashes is that they count as heavy attacks for purposes of feats and auras, inflicting bleed and increasing in damage accordingly. Jury's still out on the restoring of toughness though. Sad to say the grenade gauntlet is an exception, probably because it actually has a light/heavy attack distinction. Its peculiar alt-fire does count as a heavy attack, though.
For the 2.0 Update. 12:32 If you are a gunlugger, ranged weapons are your best freind. The kickback is still bad though, but since your ability instantly reloads your weapon. Empty stubber -> pop ability -> Empty stubber. Heavy Stubber if you want an all rounder, Ripper gun MKVI if you want to be a hallway hero, and the Lobber, if you want to be a one man Artilery peice. For the throwables. The Rock: If they don't have carapace or flak, this will likely one shot them. This can also one shot snipers! _"Hey Heretic, Cinderblock"_ The Box O' hurt: The Middleman, it now turns into a clusterbomb when hitting _ANY_ enemy, making it a single target and horde option! The Ogrynheimer Special: In exchange for only carrying one of these, you gain the ability remove a horde. While it likely does fall off with range, the damage is enough to mince enemies.

about your advice of the kickback shotgun 13:29, right now i tell that advice is gonna flew above our head because if we are gonna play as ogryn we are gonna think like ogryn so yeah we are still gonna use it.
I don't know if it was patched BUT the melee attacks with the range weapons (save for the Gauntlet) apply the 'Bleed on heavy attack' if you have that feat. So, say you have the rumbler: you do your special attack on the front line of a horde, they all are now bleeding to death. REALLY good in a pinch and if you for the Shock Maul or the Shield/maul, that's a lot of blood.
As a long time shovel user its a control king. best punch in the game, you can send maulers and ragers flying and bullwarks on their ass if you hit them from behind. Oh it can stagger bosses too! Hordes i do light > heavy > push attack. Single target i got for heavy > punch. Ive run the shovel in damnation high intensity, works well there to make space for the team, running bleed is kind of a must though
Some weapons need a specific blessing setup. The mkv ripper needs blaze away and rend you will melt to nearly everything and it is quite good at range accuracy (for ogryn at least) bull butcher and mkV ripper and heavy stubber with replenishing ammo and blaze away are the best ogryn weapons by far in my opinion
I would have liked a melee and ranged graph at the end showing what's good against troops and against carapace so I can see what weapons compliment other ones. Trying to move to higher challenge levels me and my buds struggle with managing the big guys and it's hard to find a balanced load out that I like early on
I wish the slab shields heavy attack chain was a tad faster... its so slow it just doesn't feel good, I feel a twinge as I wait for something to slide in between the attacks and take unnecessary damage lol
The heavy attack for the shield is only really useful if you cycle between light-heavy-light-heavy to brush aside a horde. It does meh damage but great stagger, dont use it as a strikedown but as a broom.
@@ShiningRayde The problem with that is the light attack chain is already a broom and when you're fighting ragers it'd be nice to have something heavy with some armor pen but... to slow, to slow.
Great video, such a shame about how awful the game is going though. They just released a bunch of patches now, no clue if they're good, but it could be nice to see a vid about them, but obviously even typing that out was boring so I couldn't imagine how boring that sort of thing would be to actually make, nice video either way dude, love you little avatar guy
Hello! Been watching your channel grow for a while. Hoping to see you get much further. Please share your twitch link so I can give a follow. Couldn't find it in the video description. I'm disheartened to see the sad state of this game as well. My girlfriend doesn't like tabletops that much, so I was thinking of introducing her to the warhammer universe through this game, and play together. But the game design, broken abilities, bugs, progression and leveling design along with the cash hungry attitude and smirky behavior from the devs have left me just sad and disappointed. 😞 I have nearly 300 hours in the game, but lost almost all interest at around 200.
