    I went to the TT in 1991 or 1992 on an RD350LC. The circuit was beautiful. I went for a ride in between races when the circuit was open for all and sundry. I was making good progress and passing a few bikes, not because I was talented but because I had the 'whatever factor' of youth and I was on a well fettled 350LC.
    Getting into the mountains I had nothing around me, my favourite part of the whole circuit and I was flying - or so I thought. In the background through my crash helmet I could hear this gentle roar. It got louder and closer like thunder. I was enjoying myself but the distinctive roar suddenly came up behind me and for a few seconds we were in the same space then it was past me in a blur of red and black bellowing pipes. I followed briefly before backing off. Enjoying the adrenalin.
    Shortly after I got back to the campsite and pulled up next to my tent. The lads in the tent next door that I'd spent the night before in the pub with were really excited. The TT radio was broadcasting and they said "you know Agostini has just been out and done a lap of the circuit on his MV!". I realised it was Agostini that had blown me into the weeds. Then it didn't feel so bad. In fact it felt amazing.

    Agostini and Hailwood (and Surtees to a slightly lesser degree as he turned to auto racing at 26)...absolute giants of the sport. The three dominated the sport like no one else. Look up their records if you don't believe me. The old Spa, Nurburgring, Monza, Isle of Man...uber lethal circuits, uber. These guys had balls like bowling balls.

    1:42 of pure Legendness, the Man, The Bike, the Ago/MV legacy. There’s more glory here in these 102 seconds than in 90% of RUclips’s videos.

    In former times, I remember well, there were only two names and some pics about: Agostini and MV. And only one and lonely champ. Ago stood for motoracing like Ali for boxing or Eddy Merx for biking. So it was. Legends!

    Kel Carruthers has said when Yamaha had their first TZ-750 (700 initially) produced they shipped several to America for testing by their contract riders...there were four who tested the TZ in Cali and Kel said two of the riders (can't remember their names but they were big name riders) basically could not even ride it at speed but Ago could and then Kenny rode it and put up much faster times then even Ago.

    I stood right next to Ago's 500 MV3 before the 1972 Senior TT.Absolutely beautiful machine.That was Ago's last TT.Even today the sound of that bike brings tears to my eyes!Back in the late 1960's the "Motor Cycling" weekly paper had a speed trap at the Highlander.I recall Agostini clocking 158.8 MPH.Over the TT week the second fastest bike was the Yamaha 250 of Phil Read at 155MPH if my memory is correct.A good 500 "Manx" Norton would do about 135.I also have a vague memory of spectating at the bottom of Bray Hill when the 125 TT was on the Friday before the Senior.A lad joined us and said there was a speed trap half way down the hill and the operator told him that Bill Ivy and Phil Read both clocked 135 on their Yamahas,and Ago hit 155 in the Senior.

      I was in the Island in the mid 60s and spoke to a guy who was riding a G50 who told me that he was practicing and nearing the end of the session coming down from Kate’s Cottage flat out he was passed by a 5 cylinder Honda 125. Probably Luigi Taveri

    Chissà se bimbo Marquez sarebbe stato in grado di correre con queste bestie e sullo sterrato senza controlli elettronici e freni ultra moderni! Almeno Valentino ci ha dimostrato di aver vinto con 5 cilindrata diverse ,tre marche in moto evolute dopo 15 anni! Tornando alla mv, in quei tempi era la migliore, ha fatto la storia il mitico ago, anche lui sempre numero 1!

    • @Lucaofice
      @Lucaofice 5 лет назад +1

      Genio del male, lo stesso identico discorso vale per il tuo dio Rossi. E' inutile che lo giustifichi dicendo "almeno ha vinto con 5 cilindrate diverse" perchè vai in contraddizione con te stesso: neanche Rossi ha mai girato, e ti cito, con "queste bestie, sullo sterrato senza controlli elettronici e freni ultra moderni!". Suvvia, collegate il cervello e smettetela di fare i tifosi con i paraocchi. PS: bella la pole di Quartararo oggi ;)
