I think water is probably assured, even if anti-gravity isn’t. Removing the ability to drive in water completely locks certain retro tracks form returning, whereas most anti-gravity sections could be tweaked to work without it.
Ok but most 8’s courses would still be unable to return. Shy Guy Falls, Mount Wario, Wild Woods, and Dragon Driftway just to name a few. I’d rather they just keep anti-gravity than drastically redesign these courses to accommodate for no anti-gravity
@ Honestly it’s not too many that are completely invalidated. Electrodrome could be tweaked fairly easily, Toad’s Harbor is eligible, Cloudtop Cruise could be tweaked, Sunshine Airport doesn’t even need its anti-gravity - I’d prefer anti-gravity to return but it’s not a given, especially compared to water driving
I mean yes, but if they don't, is it really gonna make a difference most of the time you can't really tell unless your on the side of a wall. Don't get me wrong if still rather have it but in the grand scheme of it I don't think it's that big of a deal
People have also noticed that Princess Peach is riding a motorcycle but not wearing her racing outfit, which could mean we possibly have the option to choose outfits or "skins" for each character? i think that would be super cool. So instead of having metal mario or tanooki mario be separate characters, it would just be mario with those outfits you can unlock!
While I do think it'll be possible to get new costumes (either by unlocking them or purchasing them with coins or something), I don't necessarily think that Peach riding the bike while wearing a dress is exactly an indication of that
Or maybe the game isn't finished yet and they haven't made her new model? The character models are clearly new so if Peach does have a bike outfit then it'd need to be made from the ground-up too, they can't just port her MK8 model
One of the theories i saw about the boost pad effect only being on Mario is that Mario is the character being played, the camera is modified to work differently for the trailer, and the boost effect only shows for the player that is getting the boost.
I think a thing that really points towards no anti gravity is how on Rosalina's kart, it is more look a sleigh and has no wheels and in 8, the wheels would turn sideways in anti gravity sections. That also points toward no custom karts because you just wouldn't be adding different wheels to that sleigh.
@_1oofi The kart customization did have some downsides, since every kart had to work with every wheel it made the design for karts very limited. Like the sled kart for example, that wouldn't be possible in mk8. Id love to see all the unique kart designs in this new game like in double dash ds and wii
7:37 WHAT I FREAKING LOVE JAZZ HAVING A FUNKY JAZZ FOCUSED SOUNDTRACK or jazz focused for like most or a good amount of the new tracks dude that would make me so happy 🥹(sorry im kinda on a jazz high im not sure if you could tell also nice video btw)
Somehow the thought of weight-classes made me think about how the roster's going to be organized Probably because Wii's is still peak in how everyone's organized, every two rows encompasses each weight-class, and related characters tend to be grouped together in some way, usually through horizontal pairs [the Mario Bros., Peach and Daisy, Toad and Toadette, etc.], or vertically with the Kong and Bowser families [Diddy, DK, and Funky; and Junior, Bowser, and Dry Bowser] Pretty much the only "off" relation was King Boo and Rosalina on that roster 8DX, meanwhile, I find to be absolutely horrid, _especially_ after the BCP, and I've genuinely given myself a headache trying to make sense of the Why on where everyone's placed Guess what I'm getting at is: I hope 9's roster is actually going to be organized good
My personal theory with the boost pads and stuff is that the characters each have a special power, such as Mario getting better boosts, maybe bowser starts with a red shell, peach is better gliding, dk can smash through breakable stuff without spinning out, maybe Yoshi can eat items on a long cooldown, there is infinite possibilities
@ That might be it, although I feel like the coordination of all the racers feels too good for them being CPUs like that formation doesn’t seem like cpu behavior but idk
I personally don’t think DK actually got a redesign and that the movie skins are alternative costumes. Daisy is also seen in a biker outfit so I guess they’re doing what Mario golf did by making the default skins alternative for bikes. Also we’re getting skis according to the snowmobile rosalina was driving on. So maybe some snow tracks?
I feel like since the game's style for the characters are a more cartoony, chibi, classic look the music may do the same. I imagine itll sound cartoony with a retro aspect to it.
In the video, he says no genre describes Mariokart's music, but it's called Jazz Fusion. The band that recorded MK8's music was comprised of members of the two most popular Fusion bands, Casiopia and Dimension. 👍
With the details of the map shown being a mix of dirt and road, as well as Rosalina riding a vehicle with treads and overall vehicles showing a more off road type design, i wonder if terrain feel while riding will be more exaggerated in this game? This making it so certain vehicles may perform better" on different maps and areas of it, possibly to try and avoid competitive metas where everyone rides as the same thing?
I think people are forgetting that we don't even have a release date for the console yet let alone the game, the boost effect only on Mario and Peach wearing a dress on a bike could literally just be because the game ISN'T FINISHED YET! And we don't know when this footage was taken either, for all we know the game footage could be a few months old
4:18 pretty sure they’re going to do anti gravity again as that has also become a staple of the series with it being the game mechanic used for around 10 years and it’s appearance in the movie
My theory is that the track we’re seeing is part of a giant story mode where you drive all around the mario world. that would explain the large stretches of straight track. i would love to get gas in a mario kart 😋😋
People are saying Mario kart 9 is dry and boring even though they showed just a tiny teaser. What a bunch of clowns also they got to be rage baiting because how can people be this dumb.
Not to get my hopes up, but 24 racers would allow for a 12 racer team-up like Double Dash though DD was only an 8 racer team-up. I still think it's possible. Maybe like a side-mode. Potential titles could be: Mario Kart 69 (joke) Mario Kart Nine - Nitro (I like it) Mario Kart Double Dash Deluxe (I doubt it) Mario Kart Retro or Refueled (for the R in the track like the 8 in Mario Kart 8. The style looks retro. Could be a fuel mechanic) Mario Kart 24 (No) Mario Kart Bumper Bash (I don't dislike it. Could work well.) Mario Kart 9 (Most simple and boring answer though most likely as well.)
i assume just smaller karts will just mean you'll be generally lighter, i dont necessarily know wether it's gonna be a "mechanic" i think the gamefeel will likely just be much lighter and bouncier though
Seeing retro tracks from MarioKart 8 will be very weird. Although, it possible they won't do any from 8 since it's still so popular and will work on Switch 2, maybe no retro tracks at all since nearly every one people wanted to see are in the booster course pass. Will this be the first MarioKart since Double Dash!! to have only original tracks? I can't see them going back to only 16 after the 96 in 8 Deluxe, even the normal 32 looks pathetic in comparison. Ugh, this game doesn't even have a title and I'm already wondering what they'll do for DLC.
Ehh, that didn't stop them from remaking Wii tracks for 8, so I don't see them completely skipping 8. If we're assuming 16 Retro Tracks, as tradition, that would mean an average of 2 tracks per game.
I wonder if there is a reason why they didn't show any item usage. Removing them completely would probably be too much of a departure from the tried and true formula, but I have a feeling they didn't reveal any of it because there is some sort of huge surprise waiting for us, like a completely overhauled item-system. I'm just spit-balling, but maybe you pick your item(s) during your loadout, or you have a "kit", if you will, depending on your character, and you collect this fuel as some sort of ammunition. So maybe Bowser can either use a green shell for one fuel, a red one for two and his spiked one for three. Perhaps the increased chaos that 24 drivers and more impacts would bring will be offset in some way, by having items take some sort of backseat this iteration. Or... items become even much more wild than before, and they're fully committing to the madness, with 24 guys, throwing shells and bananas around like crazy, turning every race track into a warzone. XD Either way: I am hyped!
I don't think they would regress Mario Kart that much, but I understand what you're saying about the anti-gravity and while I might of agreed with you at one point, I can't anymore because Nintendo has seemed to have this take before, not including half pipes in 8, but they did eventually just add them to 8 anyways, and because of that it feels like they've switched their opinion and anti-gravity has a good chance of being in 9
General consensus seems to be anything that heavily relied on the shape and functions of the v1 JoyCons [or whatever will be accepted, shorter term for the Switch1 JoyCons], stuff like Labo and Ring Fit Adventure _Potentially_ anything that actually used the IR sensor too, though, as that might potentially be missing from the v2 JoyCons, and that could mean 1 2 Switch could be left behind, same with the Switch Brain Age that I'm sure barely anyone remembers, and even potentially WarioWare Move It solely for that one microgame that actually used it
I have a feeling that anti gravity will stay. It is a very important part of MK8, but so we're Gliders and Underwater in MK7. Plus these gimmicks don't actually change much. They're moreso for the tracks to be unique and do more different things with gliding, water, and twisting tracks. I see no reason to get rid of them. They might of, but that kind of limits track designs a bit. Water Park wouldn't feel good without the water and antigravity. That also means that almost no 8 tracks would be remade, which I have a feeling is somewhat inevitable as MK7 had Wii tracks and MK8 had 3ds tracks. So 9/X would probably have MK8 tracks. Probably excluding the DLC Same goes for kart customization. Mario has always used the standard load out, Bowser the monster load out, and Peach the Bike load out. Plus having set karts like in Wii wouldn't be good of Comp...Wii had you play Funky Flame Runner or Daisy Mach...otherwise you lost. In MK8D you can play Yoshi, Peach, Luigi, Kamek, Birdo, Peachette, Waluigi, and Wiggler with VARIOUS different combos that are very good.
I do hope we still have some kart customisation, being at least able to choose wheels and body, and just have the Glider be unchangable or only be a visual change
loving the amount of details and editing that goes into these videos madz!! (the graphics and art too is all amazing!!) keep up the great work ദ്ദി(。•̀ ,
