Last poster is right. Furthermore I was taught in welding school just how different metals make different spark patterns. A dimly lit area works best. Scrap on dude💰💰💰💰
good stuff man. Just like the others said, on the grinder if it sparks, it's stainless steel, and if it doesn't spark, It's aluminum. Stainless is heavier and the aluminum has that dull cloudy look. stainless is mirror like.
Yea my yard is paying 6 cents a pound right now and someone commented forgot what state and their yard is paying 1 cent a pound. Everywhere is different
those bike wheels are almost all aluminum, I take an angle grinder and chop all the spokes out to separate the rim. it only takes a minute and it's worth it. Some of the hubs are aluminum too, and it only takes removing the nuts on one side to dump out the steel axle and bearings
With prices locally iron and aluminum are on base with other yards in the region, however copper and brass is a different story. I tend to hoard both of those and will only take them to the yard once every 2 or 3 years. On those it is better for me to drive to the Dallas area the difference is a few hundred dollars at the end of the day.
when you grind if it sparks its stainless no spark alluminium ....and as usual im gonna tell you those fan has motor and microwaves has huge transfo bbq has brass fitting you could make at least 7-8$ more with that load ....just dont take it as a complaint you do what you have to do but you could raised a little bit youre scrap game ...trust me it worth it ...that said... keep on living the dream like following you peace
I know they have motors in them, I need to get some scrap tools. I just don't have the time or patience to use a hand screwdriver to make another 5 cents per pound. Same with microwaves I took apart a couple but it was tedious with a screwdriver, need the tools first. Thanks again, maybe one day I will get one. haha
microwave got use to them have 4 screws on the bottom bbq has screw too for the valves but most of it is hammer destruction why are you talking about hand screwdriver you dont have any drill?? i calculate at for motor and transfo each microwave give me an average of 2.50$ one fan 1.50$ same for vaccum no matter the price at youre place its more then doble ferrous value and i dont exagerate wer talking about less then a minute each of extra work its just me for my side of view when i do a run and i see those item they are good finds not only for the wire but even ther... you could go ask uberism and he would tell you that my way is not the good way either there always place of improvement
but seriously dont take it has a complaint you realy look like a good guy you work youre assup with those fleemarket stuff and all that editing and uploading youtube dedication at the end you are fun to follow so keep on feeding the dream one way or an other
Have to agree with jackpot digger, you will only ever pay for gas from the light iron, trust me ive been doing this a long time, them little bits soon add up. Microwaves for example, my advice would be to stack them up until you have about 10, then scrap them all out at the same time, you will get quicker and you will know what tools to get out for that type of scrap.
The difference in prices for florida to new jersey is the access to the foundries. florida isn't exactly known for it's metal works up north you have more of a need and more access to the place the Scrap yards sell to.
the last few time I took scrap metal in its been 3 to4 cents per pound at the yard I go to but I don't complain do to I take a minimum of 120 pounds every time and scrap metal is a by product of what I do. I do e-waste recycling. also I feel the yard I go to is honest on what they do so that for me helps
I always take at least 50 pounds of iron to the yard every time I go, it accumulates quickly and that 2 or 3 dollars will pay for the gas going to the yard from my house.
You should always put your pile just short of the main pile, one reason is to save your energy and the other is so that the craine driver can see exactly what you have tipped, as yours is all good stuff the driver will radio that information to the pay office, that way you build a good trust relationship with your yard and maybe get a little extra per tonne. from past experience people that throw their load all over the main pile are possibly trying to hide some over contaminated material, to much glass, wood, plastic etc.
Not only that, but throwing it into the pile is going to tear up your back and shoulders. He is still young. I wish I had listened when people told me. Now I am 42 with a broken down back and cannot lift more than 5 or 10 pounds with my right arm.
if you unsure if stainless or aluminium just scratch it alu will give you a deep scratch stainless will be like drawing a line with a pencil it wont dig in
When you throw stuff onto the pile it's taxing on your body and it physically takes your toll on you over time. Given how much metal I had and the fact the pile ran pretty much all the way to my van once I was done, I think I did a fair job of just dropping it off rather than tossing it everywhere. I do toss smaller objects that weigh a pound or so just because it's fun for me. haha thanks for watching

Lot's of those grills...looks like the Sunday barbeque cooks fizzle out...some look quite expensive when new. Keep those videos coming!

Happy day!
I wish I found that chandelier, I like to use old lamp parts to build stuff. Just subscribed.
Nice video hey don't toss those plug ends that brass two seconds to pull them out and u will start to get a pile going if u cut a ton of cords.

That microwave had tons of copper and components in it!
if you unsure if stainless or aluminium just scratch it alu will give you a deep scratch stainless will be like drawing a line with a pencil it wont dig in
No sparks is aluminum.
most grill knobs are cast plastic from my experience..dont quote me on that tho
That little silver item is a napkin holder.
You should take the metal prongs out of the plugs, they are brass.
After all is said and done I made $1.80 an hour doing this $1.80 an hour is not worth my time. Thanks for watching!
Penny Wise Dollar Stupid ?Old saying in Us!
Are you in Pennsylvania bro?
pots and pans are irony aluminum(not magnegtic) 32 cent a pound
some of that is silver or silver plate !get hip to it
Why do some people say not to through stuff on the pile at the yard?
When you throw stuff onto the pile it's taxing on your body and it physically takes your toll on you over time. there are devices you can buy and check your metal items and tell you what metal it is
Metal analysers cost about 10k
seems a waste throwing the brass plug ends away.
It's called steel not iron.
