Even if it’s an old aircraft there is no excuse for dirty aircraft. Come on Air India, deep clean your aircrafts. All you need is some people to clean the aircraft properly and to have a qualified supervisor who checks thoroughly that the aircraft has been cleansed properly. In more than two decades of traveling with Emirates never seen dirty plan or for that matter any hair on seats. That’s cleanliness
Very true. I experienced the same issues in the flight from Chicago to New Delhi on the 10th May. It was the same 777. 300 ER. Air India should use good aircraft on such long flights.
I have gone around 07 times to USA and back with my families. My request to Our Hon'ble Prime Minister to advise starting a direct flight from Kolkata to JFK or EWR even for one day or two days in a week. For people like Old Men /Children/Ladies and others, it's too difficult for people from Eastern India. For God's sake.
Looks super comfortable with a 9 abreast configuration and well padded seats. Pre dinner drinks and snacks too and meal looks well portioned. I would rather fly this airline that US airlines and some European carriers.
Sadly the Air India Upgradation plans have been delayed for now due to supply chain issues hopefully by next year you will see new Planes arriving there. Currently Air India is Considering leasing more Widebodies from SIA / Etihad / Delta to temporarily deploy them on these route while their Legacy B777s and 787 goes for Overhauling & Refurbishment. Meanwhile slowly and slowly they will start deoloting newer A350s on International route like they will start fligjts to london on a350-900 in September.
Great video, @JosiahJones! @Journeying with Josiah. You were quite fair with good observations. Your final summary was good and suggestions for people wanting to fly on this route on Air India is great. I was puzzled by the instruction for all passengers to close the blinds for the entire journey. And the absence of blankets. Did you ask them why? I have subscribed! Thanks!
Thanks, Robert! The crew acted surprised at the lack of blankets, but they were also not provided on my return flight DEL-IAD. The closed window shade requirement was “for other passengers to sleep.” Thanks for the subscription!
I am considering a JFK-BOM flight with Air India, returning from Delhi back to JFK or Dulles. I had seen great reviews of Air India's business class but those must be on the newer planes. For a 14-15 hour flight I would definitely want a working media unit plus some cleanliness. I wonder if there's a way to tell when booking if the plane will be a newer model or if the route is the biggest clue (you mentioned newer planes being used for Mumbai flights only). Thanks for any additional suggestions!
Thanks for reaching out! It looks like as of now, they are always using the newer planes on the JFK-BOM route- this review shows what the experience is like: ruclips.net/video/5JelBSPTdZ0/видео.html. Much better than what I had on my flight. When you are booking, you will know that you got this plane if the seat map shows that the seats in business are set in a 1-2-1 configuration and the seats in economy are in a 3-4-3 configuration.
I agree with all your critiques except I’m from the school of flight courtesy where the shades should be open for take off and landing but remained closed for the duration of the flight.
I think air india has upgraded its catering services and food presentation for economy class. They are providing well packed food not like the old ones in aluminium wraped over the food
@@malineechakraborty6876 yes still they need more improvement in food quality because I remember last year I travelled with Air India to doha they served only veg meal. So we need to wait for 2025

Looks like the reviewer is catching an onward flight to Chennai after landing at Delhi. He has not mentioned how his transit experience was at Delhi. Normally the transit experience at Delhi and Mumbai are very harrowing because Air India has very few transit counters and the lines are long. Because of many passengers having just two hours transit time they are often unruly and break the lines. Air India also has doubtful punctuality and so it makes the transit experience nightmarish.
Yes! I ran out of time to mention that, but it was NOT a smooth experience at all. AI needs to work with Delhi airport on this issue- it took 2 hours for my luggage to get delivered.
@@JourneyingwithJosiah See! That’s what was my experience in my recent two Air India trips from USA to India transiting through Mumbai as well as Delhi.
