Ended up doing my rears as I was advised by two garages when I first had a service in November last year not long after I bought the car and when I had my ABS fluid done recently that my rear shocks needed changing. I installed Bilsteins B6 range on just the back of the car myself (As I since do all my own work where I can) and the difference in dampening from a leaking shock is crazyyyyy, it hardly wanted to rebound itself back out. B6s are way firmer to push in and come flying out, and the car is not rolling as excessively and is more compliant. The shocks didn't come with everything, but I managed to transfer the old shock dust covers, washers and other rubbers bits over with ease. Suzuki wanted £440 for the rear shocks to be changed to OE, did it myself for £210 and 2.5 hrs of time, but I'm on the street so have to too and throw from the shed, and also cleaned all the bits and hardware up. Long comment, but thought I'd leave it hear for anyone reading in the future.
Thank you for the very interesting and well made video! I'm currently facing the same problem, but I'm a bit confused by the Suzuki parts catalogue, it states that sport and standard struts are different, including the bump stop and top mounts. However there is only one version of Bilstein shocks available, which is supposed to fit all Swifts, so I'm wondering what the difference might be? 🤔
Hi, did you need to buy anything additionally for the rear dampers alone in order to fit them? Advised by both dealer and an independent that one of my rear dampers is in desperate need of replacement, but unsure if I need to buy anything additionally. Thanks for a very insightful video :)
@@Jazda ah ok thanks for clarifying. Just looked like during the video, as they were unboxed, it was all pre built with dust boots etc. I'll look at buying some separately in that case.
@@Jazda Sorry to bother you again. I’ve just bought a set of these B4’s myself. Look identical as when you unboxed them @ 2:23. I noticed the rears come with the dust boot and a bump stop already fitted. Did you fit the rear struts exactly how they were out the box, or did you reuse the bump stop and dust boot from the old strut instead? Thanks
Yep, I'm aware of them. The previous owner of my car bought some bits from them which are still on the car - induction kit and a few other bits. Details in my previous video if you're interested!
A proper upgrade for stock ride height would be b6 shocks, b4 as you correctly stated are oem spec replacements, tbf whatever you put on will be an improvement over worn original shocks👍
Hi guys! Just to clarify: B4 >oem substitution ( more quality component) B6 > no height modifications (for oem springs) but improved ride specs ( more sporty) B8 > for lowering springs, sporty ride specs I Just bought a B12 kit ( B8 + eibach springs), hope to have a big improvement and quality ride 🤞🤟
Bit of advice, you should always clean off the old parts you are refitting you may have shortened the life a little by allowing all the dirt/rust to get on the damper which will in turn damage the internal seals.
I changed my rear shocks and now theres a rattle at the back of the car over uneven surfaces….everything is done up tight so i have no idea where the rattle is from…but its only started since changing the shocks…..anyone have any idea what might be causing it?
@@Jazda all tight, i’m a bit heavy handed so i suspect they are actually a bit over tight…i can’t figure out what the issue is…i’ve had them off, put them back on, made sure everything is put on in the right order. I even bought a different set of shocks because i thought the originals might be faulty but the sound is still there no matter what i do
@@Jazda just to add a bit more detail, i have also changed the whole rear beam axle…i did this after changing the shocks, they rattled with the old beam axle and they still rattle with the new one so its not related to the whole axle / hub assembly. Its definitely something else.

Glad to hear it worked out. Nothing like saving a few quid with some simple DIY 🙂
Cool interesting content as usual love the stop motion style removal of the parts. Havent a clue how you did it but looks very cool!👍

Not sure about standard Swifts to be honest, but the B4 seems to match the OEM Sport's damping.
just want to know which site did you buy them on for the set SHOCK ABSORBER please can you let me know thank you

Ey hellow, nicee video.
Just a question: Whats the part number for the rear shocks?
Rears: 19-156545
Fronts: 22-243201 and 22-243218

Nope. Nothing else needed.

Hi, Did the rear struts come with dust boot, bump stop and top mounts? Thanks
As far as I remember, no. Here's where I bought them: www.auto-doc.ie/bilstein/631774

I am also searching front and rear shocks replacement but i can t decide if B4 or B6? Maybe somebody try bought?
Great videoography, must have taken an age for the timlapses
Wasn't too bad. First time doing it, so learned that I was moving too much and need more increments/photos to look smoother.
Great video, about a very under rated car.
There is a company in England who does tuning parts for your car.
Might be worth a look ...

Yep. I was aware of that option but I didn't want a firmer ride and the B6 cost over double the price!

Changed mine today to KYB. Stock shocks (Monroe, made in Poland) sucks.
Lovely editing! How's the car been doing? Underside looks better than I expect (yes I'm thinking of getting one now)
Been loving it. It's a great all rounder and I'll be keeping it for another while for sure. It's averaging 49.2mpg which is mental 😳
Had a zc32s aswell loved it but the clutches are terrible
No issue with mine - it's quite light and accurate. What was wrong with yours?
When they took changed the clutch there was another thing that would seize and end up waiting 6 weeks for
why you just dont clean it while you at it, those hard mud.
It's protecting the plastic wheel liners.... and I'm lazy 😆
