Thanks for posting this. I wrote "Rock 'N Roll Widow" for a solo album I made in 1976 on Capitol Records. Never knew Tina had recorded it until I turned on the TV New Year's Eve 1982 and there she was singing it on the Carson show. I haven't enjoyed television so much ever since. There is no bigger feather in a songwriter's cap than having Tina sing one of your own. Cheers.
always been one of my favorite power ballads! not to mention all your other amazing songs but this one has always given me chills!
Thank you, Eric. Much appreciated.!!
I was a kid when this aired and I LOVED this song, to me it was NEW Tina Stuff!
Did you make good royalties off the single?
Thanks, Anthony. I was fortunate in that the song rode the "B" side of "What's Love Got To Do With It." While it received very little airplay, the royalties from the sale of the 45 were helpful to my career.
Buck Anger Thanks, Buck. A strip club, eh? Thats' going on my resumé. Appreciate, very much, your kind words. Cheers.
This woman is singing live, dancing like there’s no tomorrow, and she sounds better than most do on a studio. What a voice, what an icon, a legend.
She is actually not dancing all that much. But it's very smart choreography because it gives you the impression that she is.

aigain... 🤗 I love it ✌✌🎶👍👍
This is one of the best live performances ever. Imagine having been in the audience to see that in person.
Who else got a big smile when she threw off the coat at the intro to Steel Claw? She was like 'you want Tina? well here she is baby!'
I was like, WOW!
I like this so much better than the album version. Soooo cooool!
She’s gorgeous
I couldn't wait for those legs in full legnth🔥🔥🔥🔥♥️
This woman is timeless. There is nobody like her!!

This is ridiculously great stage presence for a late night show.
👍👍👍👍
Could you imagine how fit one has to be to dance and sing like this 😮 She’s unreal ! Rip Tina
especially when you are already 42
And she did it for 50 yrs!
She definitely loved singing/performing for her fans!
I'm happy she found happiness and true love.
She deserved to retire and live happily every after.
Thank you, Tina Turner!
RIP Anna Mae Bach!
💜🎶💜
She was 43 on this show.
Constant live touring in 60s and 70s resulted in Tina being an absolute dynamic live performer, no one can touch her,
RIP to the queen of rock ‘n’ roll 😢
😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Wow. This was right on the cusp of her superstardom. You can feel her relishing her independence.
How many 43 year olds look and move like this? FABULOUS!
Dont forget her voice so beautiful and powerful!!!!!
She did it till she was 70!
Tina Rules
Who's watching in 2020 ?
I B Watcin! Tina is the best.
The best part is that it's live. Not all the fake stuff, just raw talent. That's TT.
Her energy is unmatched
Tina is the best, but we have to mention the fortune she had and still has to have a freaking incredible band; each of them are awesome musicians on their own
I have always said the same, she and her band great.
@@COMPACTTVHD Tina Turner's charismatic pianist and backing vocal Kenny Moore passed away while on tour in Australia. RIP
@@adolfoluciano71 I was wondering what happened to him when I didn't see him on the piano anymore, that saddens me, they worked very well together 💯
yes, but she deserves credit for picking them and often directing them. she doesn't get recognized enough for that - it's something she learned from Ike.
TINA is woman ! Who is a masculine edge that is a stopper. She has stage presence. Her band has to be great to keep up with her. And she's beautiful & part JUNGLE . Men get jealous . Her dancers are also picked out by her. They all really WORK UNLIKE some so called stars or singers. I'm sorry she's sick now. I love you TINA. WALLY
Goatness, greatness is not enough to describe this woman live performances.
The closing of Rock N Roll Widow always gives me chills. Something about those “oooo’s.” I can’t describe it.
I agree with you...those "ooohh" are eerie
What a powerful voice and performance, on stage for decades, always giving the maximum, always live, always the best.
I just discovered this video, and her performance is incredible, especially considering this was pre-Private Dancer and immeasurable solo success and credibility. She was an artist hungry to be heard and to connect. She was 43. Her zest is palpable. Thank you, Tina.
She owned both these performances!.....she went from one extreme to another in the blink of an eye! (Cruise control to pedal to the metal!🔥🔥🔥)
It doesn't get better than this....
She killed the 'Steel Claw' performance 😃😘 Nobody rocks like Tina!! She stepped on stage & was there to stay! Long live the Queen 😃😋🙋😎
She is the perfect defination of Rock 'N Roll superstar! From slow rock to fast, she just nailed it and there's no female perfomers after her that can even stand up to her knee. She makes you jumping inside isn't she?!
This was performed on New Year's Eve., 1982. My Mom's 43rd. Birthday & Tina had turned 43 a month prior. My Mom loved Tina. When I took Mom to see Tina in the late 1980's, it was a dream come true for her...and myself. I'm glad I did that. Tina was INCREDIBLE live. Besides U2's 360 concert, TINA was THE BEST CONCERT EVER.
This was such an amazing performance! She rocked it! She is a force of nature here! Astounding energy with a host of fantastic musicians in the band adding to the late night drama! Just wow!
Wow she rocked in 1983 with that performance. Never been anybody else who could do it like that.
So much Color in her Voice. Best rock singer ever. The Performance is
total perfect.
Rock n Roll Widow still makes me emotional after all these years.
I need to know who wrote this song. Please let me know.
Yessss

Tina Turner, that voice, that voice!
My my . They don`t make them like they used to do . Tina Turner and her band, a class act
Yes...this is her being in her element...a rock and roll diva..
I saw the original telecast iand said "she's hot" after this performance - just before Carson said the same thing. Tina remains one of a kind.
Huh
She sang like there is no tomorrow she is simply the best.
She was an amazing live performer.
Her voice is incredible!
She herself is the "Queen of Rock and Roll". GOD bless miss Tina Turner forever. More Power to you and your Channel. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Steel claw was on the private dancer album. I played the whole thing all day long. Love me some Tina.
Jeff Beck on that album 🎸
Forever The Queen of Rock and Roll
what an incredible performance. that dress! being it was 1982, im surprised they let her wear it. although its tame compared to todays standards.
So sincere and so powerful. It’s like a celebration on the stage 🎉🎉🎉
No one fills the stage like her. Amazing entertainer, queen of rock! And those legs...... OMG!!! Best legs I've ever seen 😍
Beautiful, Beautiful, Bountiful, Mega-talented Ms. Tina Turner❤💯

I can see and hear her thousand times. Miss Tina Turner, GOD bless you. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Mind, heart, lungs and soul all entangled together.
I am so glad to hear a complement such as yours. I can say the same.
Total package 💯
I was born in this year of 1982, this is amazing that Tina Turner sang in the New Year that I was born!
stage presence for days!!
I never fully understood how she could always jump around in those short skirts without showing what's underneath.
@@reggaefan2700 Bob Mackie said he designed costumes for Tina meant for hard work, they had to have strength and I guess it's "movements" were limited to not show too much

Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce , even Winehouse, are just babies compared to the fantastic, and naturally beautiful, Queen of Rock !
I know all artist work and prove themselves and make their mark in whatever industry they are famous for...some are 1 hit wonders and some are long lasting artist ...but what I am trying to say is #TinaTurner worked, she worked hard with #Ike and then worked harder during her pre-Private Dancer solo years then even worked hard during her 1980s comeback to reclaim her seat in rock royalty...I firmly believe #Tina is the #QueenOfRock...she is simply amazing, the f*cking best!!!
waaaw jack and ralf stayed always with her
she worked so hard to get finally what she really deserves
THE LEGEND
Saw her live at Richard's in Atlanta. We were so close to the stage when she and the girls came to the left end of the stage we were dodging the sweat flying off of them! Fantastic show, such energy!
Simply a legend
What a entertainer ! What a great woman...she is it all..lots of wanna be's but no one can compare 🙌❣️
TINA ROCKS!!! PERIOD!!!
Iconic
Goosebumps every time
Now that’s performing! Magnificent
The Queen of Queens in Rock and Roll. Very lovely and adorable miss Tina Turner. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
That woman gives me chills, I've never seen a woman work so hard in my life and she does it so effortlessly, Now I know Why my mother got mad at my father all the time when he talked about Tina Turner lol of course we didn't get to see it back then they didn't show that kind of stuff it was only late at night or you didn't see it on TV but mannnn....let me tell you something when she threw off that coat Lord have mercy them legs!!! I love the way she dances, definitely if I die I want to come back as Tina Turner!!!!!
One of my favorite songs by her is Rock N Roll Widow. She really sings. This was before her big comeback. But Steel Claw made it on The Private Dancer Album and Rock N Roll Widow was the B side of What's Love Got To Do With It single.
SOUL sister! BIG ENERGY. No one like her.
Love Still Claw! Rock ‘N Roll Widow is also fantastic, thankfully it’s on the PD expanded cd!
Despite all her success she is such and underrated artist!
Would have loved to see her during this period live! Just before the career defining Private Dancer album!
Had to come back to watch this today.
She is sensational!
Lord have mercy, that Steel Claw was ripping!!
Absolutely amazing! 🔥💯💥
I feel lucky to be even living in the came age as Tina. It occurred to me today when watching the scene where she looks back at jeff and others and they just laugh it off with so much rest. If I was them I would have had a heart attack seriously 🤣
She is really a great lady!!!!!
She sang these song live on TV 2 years before they were a part of her Private Dancer Album in 1984. This is 1982. Rock n Roll Widow was the B side to What's Love Got to Do With It, the Single. And Steel Claw was a cut on the Private Dancer Album.
Thanks for the education.
BRAVO TINA TURNER.
OMG. So beautiful. So talented.
I have these songs on her Private Dancer CD.
Never saw this performance before, wow. Brings tears to my eyes, she was the embodiment of "stage presence". Determined, strong.
One of my favorite rock n roll should have been a single.
This is still two years away from her triumphant #1 single What's Love Got To Do With It.....God Bless this woman!! xoxo
wow wwhhhaata a woman, the pure electric, the talent, the vocals the moves and the dress, need i mention those legs, pure heaven xx
Thank you so much for this Video Clip. More Power to you and your Channel. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love the old clips of the Tonight Show. So many great entertainers! Johnny Carson was a class act.

Tina rocks!
OMG! Never even knew this existed!!! I thought these songs were recorded for Private Dancer in 1983!!!???? Thanks for sharing - mega rare!!!!
OMG I LOVER HER "MARE" PRANCE... loL. no one else can do that the way she does
AMEN. When I was a little girl, I always thought Ms. Tina was a beautiful, beautiful doll baby who had come to life😍🥰💯
Holy shit....those legs...the Queen of Rock'n'roll….no one will ever top her
Real music from the heart
This song is amazing! God bless your inspiration. I really love a lot of your songs: deeper than the night, even a fool would let go, make a move on me, he’s so shy, don’t know much and Many others!
Best Legs to ever walk this earth! Need I say more! What a rock n roll Goddess!
Один из самых крутых роликов Королевы . Смотрю и всегда как будто в первый раз восхищению нет предела !!!!!!!!

Powerhouse performer, atomic voice.
Happy belated birthday 🎂🎉 beautiful goddess you are the queen 👑 of Rock and roll!!!? Tina Turner u paved the way for us thank u!!!! Thank u thanku!!! We are so grateful for u!🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊🥰
Interesting that in this same year (1982) Tina was working with the UK duo Heaven 17 to put together 'Ball of Confusion' before 'Let's stay together' in 1983. She appeared on Australia's pop show Countdown in December 1982 to sing 'Ball of Confusion', not long after this performance here on Johnny Carson. It's also interesting to hear these early versions of 'Steel claw' and 'Rock and Roll Widow' which appeared on the international versions of the Private Dancer album two years later. Make sure to search for 'Tina Turner Ball of Confusion Countdown Australia' to see that important performance too.
Whoops. I meant her performance on Countdown Australia was early December 1982, so it was before this key performance. It's very interesting to see Tina singing early versions of two tracks to appear on an album two years later. She obviously loved both these tracks. On the Countdown appearance she looked much different to this. Different hairstyle, more straight and flat. Check it out!
Sam Tucan PPS, Who got the job of blowing up all those pink balloons?
BRAVO TINA TURNER BRAVO.
There won't have a female entertainer like Tina Turner
She's amazing!
How come they never gave Tina a Nobel Prize ?
