I love the continued use of Cynthia’s theme in Volo’s battle themes but having it be much more subtle in this version fits the character really well. It feels like a distant echo which make sense as the characters are distantly related to each other

That and the two-phase Giratina fight immediately afterwards, making Volo's battle a three-staged fight, with no healing in-between. Cynthia's relatives, whether they be from past, present, or future, are truly some of the strongest trainers around.

My favorite part about Legends plot is that it confirmed, but the debunked, Giratina being PokéSatan. It totally gave it a shot in the deity 80s, and then gained an irrational fear of protagonists and never again.
1) I LOVE how sus his theme is 2) I LOVE how despite his goal to capture what's basically a god for the Pokémon world and remake the world, his goal isn't really conquest nor the exploitation of Pokémon like other evil teams, he "just" want to make a world with no suffering, and to still differentiate him from other antagonists in the franchise he actually takes really good care of his Pokémon. N himself, Mr "I-speak-to-Pokémon", said Togepi is well taken care of and is really happy and loves Volo. So in the end he's still the most wholesome antagonist out of the Pokémon antagonists.

You've just gotten to Pasio yourself and have your beloved Pikachu with you. Its a bit of a rainy evening and you've heard of those villainous teams causing trouble all over Pasio. Best to avoid them until you've gotten stronger. You meet this strange guy in an alleyway. This guy just TOWERS over you, but you notice his resemblance to Cynthia. Is he her brother or something? So... maybe he's as nice as her? And he just wants to have a little chat with you. You're wary and not a naive kid. Your alarm bells are ringing, stranger danger. Turns you, you DO have just a little chat with him, against all expectations. Just some casual conversation! You introduce each other, talk about your reasons for coming to Pasio. For you, you just wanna battle and become stronger! Volo said he came here by chance, but doesn't elaborate on it. Maybe like those Ultra Beasts you've heard about fleetingly? So yeah! You meet him in an alley, which is very weird. He's a bit of an oddball, but he's just as nice as Miss Cynthia! He offered to get you back to the Pokémon Center because of those villainous teams' grunts causing trouble and "it wouldn't be coming of a merchant if his favourite customer got hurt." That's so nice of him! So... why can't you help but feel like you're in danger...?

Well this game did confirm that Volo does treat his own Pokémon well since N can understand Pokémon as he reveals that his Togepi is well taken care of and is loved by Volo. N doesn’t lie about those things. What do you have to say to that TV Tropes and Villains Wiki? Is that really someone who is pure evil? I don’t think so.
I like to think that Giratina was the one pulling the strings and had manipulated/brainwashed Volo to the point where he fully believed its wishes and desires to be his own.
Idk, he could be treating his Pokemon well out of pure pragmatism; after all, a Pokemon that hates you doesn't really do you any good, does it? And he's a really good actor too. You can't want to take control of God and recreate reality without being fucked up, you just can't rofl.

After all Ghetsis is far more evil and he doesn’t has Pokémon like that on his team, if Game Freak wanted Volo to be eviler then Ghetsis then they wouldn’t have given him 2 Pokémon like that (With the other being Lucario) Additionally there a picture of him with Togepi at the photography studio even though he had no pragmatic reason to do that. So most likely you are wrong.
@@Mario87456 to add to that, in this game, he claims that him forging bonds with people solely is about using them "before they use you." So he possibly was betrayed before in a similar way and very likely is afraid of that happening again if he lowers his guard.
@@Charara999 That may true with people but caring about a Pokémon is different. Although it’s implied Volo might have had a rough life as according to Volo himself whenever he encountered something that was painful or heartbreaking, he wondered why life was so unfair.
