The push to add on antipsychotics for depression is just insanely frightening to me!
Actually ,these are not side effects, these are real effects !
Yes! If it’s an effect, it’s real, not a “side” effect that may/may not be common/rare/typical etc.
The worst and most obnoxious phrase I've seen is "non-specific effects". That's the level of stupidity and common sense defying language games that are allowed to go on.
More accurately called unwanted effects.
That list of side effects immediately made the commercial into a Saturday Night Live skit, wow!
Years ago, a Dr added Cymbalta and then I developed an irrational fear of driving, specifically changing lanes and backing up. She wouldn’t help me wean off 😠 and I tapered slowly but ended up with horrible brain zaps. Twelve years later, I still get weekly brain zaps but mostly when very tired. My lesson: Before starting a med, understand what is involved in getting off the med.
Cymbalta brain zaps are tourcher, and increased insomnia makes it worse.
I wish I'd done that... if only I had a time machine. 🥺
@@drunkensquirrel7545 I’m sorry if you were tricked into taking a med you thought would help. I learned that doctors know very little about the meds they give. I’d like a Time Machine too! 😢🤔
When psyche pro = good bartender... "Oh, rum isn't working for you, try a Long Island Iced Tea, it's got EVERYTHING in it!"
This is scary! Thank you for brining this to light ❤
It's also being marketed to seniors who have dementia that's accompanied by irritability. You've probably seen those commercials. All I can hear in my head when I see the ad is, "Is Grandma grumpy? Give her this & turn her into a docile zombie!" SMH
You are a life saver!!! I have this in my draw. My Dr has been asking me if I started it & after being forced Invega I never want to take another drug like that again. I'm so glad I didn't start this personality killer that numbed me again.
I tried everything even drugs they give to soldiers after to war to cope with ptsd this was the only drug that completely stopped my night terrors
I thought this was a Snl skit when I seen on tv
Psychopharmacology is largely a joke
Oh my goodness! Im currently in protracted withdrawal from Paxil...(11 months out). After the misery, horror Ive experienced and currently going through these drugs terrify me! Please rethink using any psych med unless it a matter of life and death! Prescribers typically dont have a clue how these drugs work. "You have a chemical imbalance " was what got me into Paxil. Worst decision Ive EVER made!
You can get through this- I was on many benzos, antipsychotics, and antidepressants- I promise you got this, if you need tips, let me know! I smile everyday now. I didn’t even know my own name or family at one point. (Psych “medication” induced amnesia)
Same thing has happened to me. They fooled me with the chemical imbalance lie. Trying to get my life back after weening off these poisonous meds.
Chemical imbalance is a fallacy
I got the diagnosis Dystymi when i was on cymbalta and Lyrica ! Today 3,5 yrs off meds i see that it was the meds that made me feel this way! ( sorry for my bad english)
I always roll my eyes at the description restlessness or agitation. Because it’s such a watered down version of what really happens . . . Akathesia so bad you want to (fill in the blank). So it shows they know how real aka is.
And uncontrolled movements that might be permanent. Has any doctor ever told anyone that?!
Two years off the “bad stuff” and I can FINALLY enjoy a movie without wanting to rip my skin off. I’m grateful everyday I survived…I almost didn’t. I pray for those who continue to struggle and for those who lost their battle… big pharm-uh (spelled out to prevent deletion of speech) has killed and destroyed so many lives. I almost didn’t survive. I barely made it out.
@@Ann11972 same. Same story for me after taking a benzo for a few months.
The term "side effects" is so disingenuous RE: psych meds that it's practically unreal.
Had a terrible experience with Rexulti. Is that the same as oxcarbazopine?
In psych med commercials the actors are generally white, in this case they've also chosen red hair and blue eyes which is like the archetypal european. They didn't cast for green eyes because that's too specific, and they didn't use blonde hair and blue eyes because that's become politically loaded and isn't expansive enough. Red hair is what, under 1% of global population? Blue eyes, maybe 3-5% maximum? And the daughter has blonde hair.
Contrast this to ads for food, stock images attached to services and utilities, etc, it's actually a hyperspecific clustering or constellation of traits they portray the most. Otherwise it's usually multiracial to the point of being more like check boxes or tokenization, usually with either non-white families or interacial couples.
I mean look, I'm not all about the race thing, but this is quite obvious. Psych meds are keyed to European phenotypes in their marketing.
😢😢😢 my high anxiety and depression started when u was diagnosed with the devil (cancer)
