Thank you for this very well put together video. I am a Christian.. but this was done very well rounded from a historical point of view. Excellent work
Truly a great video to peruse. I myself without my faith. After numerous surgeries. Still recovering from my last on Mon June 2nd. A Left Knee Replacement. Which went south and required a 6 day hospital stay. Without my faith I would be lost. Thank you for this particular video. 💪🏻🙏🏻✨
in the life in which our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified and died for our sins, I was Judas Iscariot. recently, the Lord told me this. I am 39 years old, I am a sinful woman, who discovered God a year ago, when I found out that I am sick with diabetes, kidney failure, heart disease and many others. then, in my desperation, I prayed to God to save me, because I didn't have much left to live. I have 2 children and they were left without a mother.... The Lord heard me and saved me that day, he healed me completely, on the spot, from all my diseases.... he took them upon himself.... and me today, I live because He did this for me. since then, I hear the Lord speaking to me and I gradually learned about His love and mercy. only a few days ago, the Lord told me who I was in the life in which He died for my sins...Judas the traitor. If to me, the most cunning and wretched man on the planet, the Lord showed such mercy and love, despite what I could do, do you ever believe that He does not love you and does not care for you, which you did not . what I did???? please....think of Him, love Him for who He is, seek Him...nothing in this world compares to His love... all my life I felt that he loved me, he always helped me, but I was cold.... now I found out who I really was, and in this life I was a kind of Judas... think about his love . , you didn't do what I did...think, please...how much he loves you, if he didn't leave me, how will he leave you???

@mikeDeSales943 well, I was raised Catholic by my mum, who was Brittish, may she rest in peace. But that made me wonder how come she wasn't Protestant? Thank you for a great presentation!! I'd like to see you do the proper translation of Pilate's inscription on the Cross, since the descriptor "Jew" wasn't in common use until around the 1760 era and the term "King" wasn't commonly used until after the Anglo Saxon invasion of England. Important words that paint an entirely different message from Pilate.
I'll do my best, but not sure where you are going with this. Rex's Greek equivalent is archon which translates to leader, ruler, or chieftain. "Jew" in ancient Greek is Loudaios which could mean Judeans, the people in the area of Judea vice the Jewish faith as a whole.
Awesome!!! I almost left the Catholic Church established 33AD. Told myself to study it before I leave… that was 18yrs ago. Thanks to Catholic Answers live (mostly former Protestant pastors who tried to disprove the Church but God converted them)… and the internet. Semper Fi Brothers!!!!
There has been a long argument for nearly 2,000 years that Judas did NOT "betray" Jesus but was following. His orders. Careful translations of early versions of the Bible have claimed Jesus said something to the effect of "one of you shall turn me in", not "betray". You would also have to ask yourself whether anyone even remotely like Jesus could have been deceived or misjudged a close friend so foolishly. Jesus knew his disciples and His crucifiction was not done without His foreknowledge and consent. He knew what was going to happen and how to accomplish it. He was nobody's fool.
Sure, and he knew Judas would betray him from the beginning, but it needed to be done for the new covenant to be accomplished. If you look at everything that is said about Judas in the bible, not just one passage, it's very clear that he was a traitor.
Please don't let the Christianity haters force you to put this content in another channel. The bible is VERY much a collection of recordings of HISTORY. There may be a metaphysical being behind the bible, there may not be but the fact that the bible contains a great deal of history is incontrovertible.
Good presentation. I have read all the comments to date. I would disagree that you would have to separate all religious content from the history content if it in fact the religious content ties directly into history proper. It would be the same as doing a show on the Prophet Mohammed and his writings, then using those as a conduit to explain the military expansion campaigns of Muslims using the Quran as a theological and social road map.
@@DudeNamedDuncan I get it! But when someone leads with Christ as a reference , I start looking for the fraud covering character disorder. I can usually tell who is, in fact, a Christion without them telling me or displaying a cross around their neck.
How can anyone not believe in Jesus Christ when time is divided world wide by bc and ad before Christ and after death. Even if you don't believe in the miracles there was SOMETHING about the man for the world to decide to divide years of humans living in time
Sad thing is, no matter how faithful Judas was throughout his walk with Jesus, when it mattered most he betrayed him when he seeked forgiveness from priests of that time and to end his guilt he killed himself. Never looking to god or Jesus for forgiveness through repentance
A crucial overlooked fact is that Judas ISH KEROTH was the only Jew aka Judean aka Jerusalemite among all the early followers. Using 'iscariot" masks his birth location in Ish Keroth, Judea, and his connection to the rulers in Jerusalem. Everyone else was Galilean and also Judahite. Judas was not an Israelite, nor were any of the Jews aka Jerusalemites. Recall Jesus always uses third person reference to "the Judeans" never including Himself, when talking to them or about them.
One thing that we failed to see was Judas would have been forgiven if he had not killed himself. Peter did even though he denied Him. Peter was sorrowful for his actions. 😔
@@FORGOTTENHISTORYCHANNEL He did not trust in Jesus & seek forgiveness..... The ultimate sin, he knew his fault but rejected God's Mercy, Love, & forgiveness & allowed the demons to fill his guilt & sorrow not for forgiveness....but martin luther protestant scrupilosity & thought selfishly on his deeds rather than Christ death for him.
As we learned in school at some time, the Roman s counted by 10 due to human beings having 10 fingers. While the ancients counted by 6 and 12, zero , if it is a number , was "invented " by an Arabian culture. I suppose in modern times, we incorporated 0 to 1 through 10 for convenience reasons . Add 1 to 6 and you get 7, a lucky number. Add 1 to 12 and you get 13, an unlucky number .why did the ancients count by 6 and 12? I suppose, probably because of the earth, sun, and the stars . Divide a circle evenly , and you get 6 and 12. Or is there something more to 12? Is there mysticism to numbers ? The story of the 12 disciples made the story of Jesus Christ a perfect, pre destined story. But judas was not the evil 13th disciple. He made the Jesus christ story perfect .
The most tragic part of the story of Judas was that would’ve been forgiven. It started with greed. When he realized what he did he was ashamed and instead of repenting he took matters into his own hands. I don’t think he intended to get Jesus killed, his love for money clouded his intellect and he made a horrible decision without thinking of the consequences. He tried returning the money but it was far too late. He was Pride manifested to its logical conclusion. Sacrifice the good for personal gain. Judas is in all of us don’t forget that. A man that doesn’t know his own nature is a dangerous man indeed.
Herod was a Roman Edomite jew, Judas was the only one among the twelve who was not an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin; he like Herod was an Edomite jew.
Judas was the most important disciple because he was the instrument to fulfill prophecy. He was ignorant of this position until he tossed the 30 pieces of silver across the floor. Interesting the number 30, the same age that Christ started his pilgrimage. Without Judas, the prophecy would not have occurred. Christ knew his weaknesses and allowed Judas to be Judas: liar, cheat, manipulator and more. In desperation and guilt, knowing he sent his Savior to be crucified, he hung himself, committing his own crucifixion. "The first shall be last and the last shall be first," Christ said. Judas was the 12th and after his death another was ordained, making 13. Remember, the number 13 isn't an unlucky number. And 12 plus Christ is thirteen.
In the Gospel of John, John refers to Judas as Simon's son, four times. The other three gospels do not repeat that. I believe that is due to John being the last living Apostle when he wrote his version, and it was time for all things to be revealed. I also believe that the Simon being referred to is Simon Peter. Simon Peter is the one who lashed out with a sword as Jesus' betrayal. John knows about Judas because he worked with Simon and would know what kind of person Judas was. Maybe, I'm reading into it, but why else would Judas be the treasurer? Maybe Simon lobbied for Judas to have that position, giving his son a position of prominence, in the same way as the Apostles argued over who was going to be Jesus' 'right hand man'. Satan using the son of Simon Peter to betray Jesus would be quite the irony, since Jesus told Simon that Satan wanted to sift him like wheat, and Simon's three denials of Jesus would come from Simon being emotionally devastated, and anguishing over his son's betrayal of The Messiah. But what do I know.
Simon was a very common name back then. Simon the fisherman who also became a follower of Jesus was renamed by Jesus as Peter (There is also a different disciple known as Simon the Zealot) He is sometimes referred to as Simon Peter. He has no relation to Judas Iscariot. Thanks for watching
Judas Iscariot is an interesting study. According to the Gospel of Luke, when the couple on the road to Emmaus returned to Jerusalem, they found the Eleven gathered. It wasn't Judas who was missing, it was Thomas. Judas saw the risen LORD and repented. Unlike Peter, he was unable to receive forgiveness and continue, so he took his own life. In spite of his tragic end, his testimony stands as clear evidence that Jesus was indeed the promised Messiah.
What verse in Luke are you speaking of? Matthew 27 clearly states Judas hanged himself before Jesus was crucified. Also, I would not put denial and betrayal in the same categories. I do agree with your last sentence.
@@FORGOTTENHISTORYCHANNEL I respectfully disagree. Remember, at the opening of Luke's gospel, he makes it clear others have told the story, but that he has been diligent to put things in order. Some translations leave the impression Luke is writing "in order" that Theophilus might know for certain what he had been taught. However, that is not the meaning of "in order" here. If that were the case the Greek would have been "hina" (sorry, no Greek font) which means purpose. Instead, we find "kathexes" which has the idea of consecutively, or as we might say chronological. The reason here is that the other narratives are not always in such order. Indeed, Matt. 7 does not "clearly" state Jesus was crucified after Judas hanged himself. That record appears there most likely to complete the Judas story. There is nothing in the text which states this happened before the crucifixion. We tend to read it that way because of where it appears in the story; however, Luke does not even mention Judas after the betrayal. One must account for the fact that Luke 24::33 does clearly state the Emmaus couple returned and "found the eleven", and we know from the rest of the story that Thomas was the one who was missing.
@@FORGOTTENHISTORYCHANNEL Deeper dives are great, and I readily acknowledge I could be wrong. The only answer I've ever heard was that Matthias was present and counted in the eleven retrospectively, but I don't believe that works for reasons I won't go into at this time. It's another deep dive.
I have often wondered what would have come about had Judas not played his part. There is no doubt that Jesus would have still fulfilled his mission even if Judas had been Bethlehem at the time.
Well alot of the middle east north Africa was predominantly christain even china and India were greatly impacted in the first 100 years ,, before Muhammad, over a short time he wiped alot of it out but the flame will never die .

Here for my second time , waiting on part 2 (:
It's posted. It is on Philip and Bartholomew.

Great idea. We will consider.

The beginning of this video. Gave me the chills
Please don't let the Christianity haters force you to put this content in another channel. The bible is VERY much a collection of recordings of HISTORY. There may be a metaphysical being behind the bible, there may not be but the fact that the bible contains a great deal of history is incontrovertible.
More to come. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the comment
I have always wondered if Judas TRULY repented before he killed himself. If so, is he in Heaven to this day?
I believe he did, but I guess we'll find out for sure one day.
If he killed himself how would he get into heaven

How can anyone not believe in Jesus Christ when time is divided world wide by bc and ad before Christ and after death. Even if you don't believe in the miracles there was SOMETHING about the man for the world to decide to divide years of humans living in time

Thanks for your generosity, We really appreciate it!

I don't think it's a matter of whether he killed himself, it's a matter of whether he repented for his actions

Thanks for watching.
Yes, it is believed he was from Kerioth.
it's actually CE and BCE these days....meaning common era and before common era
Good point

I'll have to do a deeper dive into this. At preliminary glance, it seems you may be right. Thanks for sharing.
Nice Job on this series. Judas was to fulfill prophecy. It isn't that the Lord Jesus didn't know.
I have often wondered what would have come about had Judas not played his part. There is no doubt that Jesus would have still fulfilled his mission even if Judas had been Bethlehem at the time.
Yes, God would have made another way.
