Not really something you'd expect me to review on the channel, but I've been ordering a lot of Displate's for my new office, and have a couple complaints.. overall I think the product is worth it, but I wanted to share my opinions

Just don't support displate. I have had 3 of my pieces stolen by displate and had my watermark removed from each of them. When letting them know. They told me my art was "fair use". I explained that all my art is copyrighted and they these were paid commissions. And theu never replied after that.

Yeah, I've seen a ton of stolen/infringed art on there. I'm also disappointed how there isn't a smooth frame option, and instead it is all fake "wood" texture from what I've seen. It would also be nice to have a single piece for the XL versions in the future. I think the current offering may simply be a logistical issue (printing and/or shipping limitations but it would be nice to have down the road.
Frames always crop over the images but for a product like this, a frame makes no sense to get unless you are specifically wanting the aesthetic of having it framed like a normal picture. Frames are always expensive too for regular pictures… huge mark ups
Haven't bort from here there's acuppull I want like 11 but I got frames with my anime posters and the frames were 109 but they look awesome the frame on this video looks garbage lol but pretty much don't get the XL and the smalls not worth and don't get a frame on displate we learnt today but I want a cuppull date a live posters favorite anime
I got the Elden Ring map with a frame thinking it would be an actual frame that I could slide the plate in and was very disappointed when opening the package. I can live with it though, but I'm never ordering a "framed" Displate again.
I bought some Displates on black friday as a christmas present for my sister. And they were still crazy expensive here in the US, so they must be insane prices up there in CA.

I assumed it was a real wooden frame, very misleading marketing. It wouldn't have been as big a deal to me if it wasn't so much more expensive. Kinda feels like spitting in the face of a customer who's willing to spend more for your product. Wish I would have just made my own frame for 1/4 the cost.
Can add that they don't offset the actual graphics on XL. The print follow the curve of the four individual plates resulting in lost print and in my case, cohesive text.
I think with the XL you can do some cool stuff with them, having the gap, or having them off set in a cool pattern. Rather than being right next to each other 😅

Your video still helped confirm my thoughts about the fake frame though! I also had similar concerns regarding copyright and whether the artists were the original. So I'll definitely have to do a bit more research on the individual artists. Also, I can't decide between Medium and Large - Large is definitely better for the artwork that I have in mind but Large needs two magnets, which is a hassle. The Medium only needs one magnet but it's probably too small to see the artwork detail (they are maps with wording)... Decisions, decisions... 🤔
It really depends where you plan on hanging it up, but as you mentioned the double magnet means you could only replace it with another large. Honestly a single magnet would work with a large, it just might have issues after a longer period of time

I am in Canada also. I am debating purchasing also, to replace a lot of glass covered photographic prints of whales and dolphins. I used to collect them way back when and have kept them for over 20 years and when I unpacked them after my move up here, I found they were all water damaged. I cannot replace them, since they no longer make them. I was wondering though, how strong are the magnets? I like most people around here, live in a trailer house. Sometimes it shakes a bit when like doing laundry and I need to know they will stay put. No one seems to be talking about magnet strength. Thank you for also showing the difference in matte and shine and warning about the frame and just exactly what the sizes are, in comparison to like the length of your arm.
Dude, that picture with the frame looks awesome, at least on the video. I think you're nitpicking. That being said, I think I'll order mine without the frame, as I'm aiming for modern and minimal look in my interiors.
While I don't mind buying third party for a product that just can't be made by an original seller, there's a bunch of smaller metal poster businesses that will just accept an image and give you basically the same product for cheaper. I'd prefer to buy it from the copyright holder but when that's not the option... might as well go for the cheaper option.
I think they look great, but you are right.. the frame is not worth it at all, and if somehow they would make XL just one big displate without the lines in between, then it would be a must-buy however I get it why because having it shipped like that increases the probability of bending.

Funny how they still have kid from majora´s mask and other zelda "inspired" artworks. Heck they have loads of nintendo artwork but none of it is officially licensed. Strange that nintendo hasn´t asked them to take it down knowing how they stand in regards to copyrights. Wouldn´t want that "fake" artwork on my wall anyway. I own several cyberpunk displates and just ordered the LE edition elden ring displate. But those are all officially licensed by namco or cdpr.

I was checking this website recently and was looking through some artists, and oh boy, do most of works look like they are made by AI? I mean, as an artist myself I would expect to see original works of art, but instead got tons of generated images, that could be made within seconds using a fckng computer... I dunno, it seems unfair to me that some ppl make money of it

I just got my first 2 displate posters, and I'm VERY disappointed, neither of them came with the magnets, just the posters and nothing else. And, one of the posters, despite being crisp and legible on their site, came VERY pixelated and blurry and it's impossible to read any of the words on the poster, even with it right in front of my face... I feel like I've been straight up deceived and lied to.
the thing with the frame is kinda fucked up. on the site it looks like the frame gets added to the full picture and does NOT crop it. but the listed size of the picture stays the same with and without frame while as you said..the frame crops the picture
I do have a question for you I know you were talking about how plagiarism is (might be remembering the wrong word) cuz I have these like identifying photos for certain regions of pokemon but they're not mine and I don't want to get in trouble for using them. One picture I have says birds of the kanto reigion and another that says insects of the johto reigion

Same, as soon as he showed that the frame is just a texture slapped on top, i thought this feature isn't worth it.
They removed a LARGE amount of the inventory, I believe due to copyright issues!

I have 30+ Displates with zero issues. Always watch reviews on the frames before buying.

i have an xl and its sick. they are expensive tho. i agree the frame is a rip off. to be fair it does show it cropped but it is slightly misleading
