If they fall what was the weak point in your experience? Is it the poster, that falls of the magnet? The magnet, that falls of the paper? Or the paper that falls off the wall? Or a combination of all three? I am a bit nervous after ordering my first few displates and living in an apartment that get's very hot during the summer.
I have wallpaper on my wall. But I did not use the paper/leaf it comes with. I just stuck the magnet on my wall, and hammered a tiny nail through the center. You'll never have an issue with it falling off. Just make sure the nail is perpendicular to the magnet, or better yet a slight downwards angle when you hammer it in. Some people use command strips/hooks/velcro. Nail seems much easier, easy to remove, less risk of peeling off paint while removing, leaves only a tiny hole. I've had mine on for a few years now. And you got me curious so I removed them to check for the first time since I mounted them, and the magnets are still stuck on good. They don't come off with the plate. And make sure nothing important is behind your drywall. Hammer it gently. Or if you know the thickness of your drywall, measure it on the nail and put a large chunk of tape around the nail so that the nail only goes though the drywall and not past it.. Then you can just push it through slowly.
When I first got my Displate it was very likely the magnets slipping that caused part(s) of it to fall (it is an XL) at least twice in the first days I had it. Since my dad drilled screws/nails into the wall through the magnets to hold them in place, however, there hasn't been an issue with falling in those 10-11 months.
I've had one fall. Twice. The plate now has extensive damage. Completely bent on the bottom corners, scratched all over the image and the worst is that the skirting is now chipped in multiple spots where it slid down and slammed into it. This was a couple years ago and the only one of 4 I got at that time that has fallen. I think it was the leaf that was the weak point. The glue just wasn't sticking for some reason in the spot it was in.
@@Ballissle Try contacting Displate. I gifted one to my brother and it fell off his wall, it was only slightly damaged in the corner but they sent a replacement and I kept the damaged one.
These are so cool. 30% off right now. I'm still paying $400au to get 4 displaces here. That's ridiculous, that's a $100 per displate. Way too much even with the discount
