    I am in agreement with the Swedish journalist who did the special, "Missing Evidence" a few years back and he puts together a very compelling case naming Charles Allen Cross Lechmere as the killer. He worked at the butcher market. So he transported meat in the wee hours of the night and early morning. Would have had reason to be out there and the blood, if any on him, would be explained easily.

    • @joeylowell293

      Lechmere was NOT the ripper he does not fit what we know is a lust killer and as with all the other documentaries they leave out very important things and they always pick a suspect and make him fit the crime. they are guessing on almost everything they said and do not know the ways he took to work or that he had trouble with his mother.the authors and people who make the documentaries are the ones who have made this case a joke and nothing more than a money tree.

      @@Stantheman848 I wouldn't call it a lazy or stupid suspect. It's certainly fine if you don't think he's the Ripper, but Lechmere, as the documentary highlighted, was the only person spotted alone with one of the victims' bodies. That alone is worth looking into. The false name and other lies make him, again, worth considering. I don't necessarily believe Lechmere is the Ripper, but he's worth a strong look given the aforementioned facts.

  • @ZnenTitan
    @ZnenTitan 4 года назад +32

    By everything I've heard it almost has to be Charles Allen Lechmere. Who not only worked in a rendering plant but also delivered the meat as a driver. Almost all the victims were on his route to and from work, (plus he was found standing over a victim before she ever started to bleed out) And because of the nature of his profession, people were used to seeing him covered with bloodstains at all hours of the night. And BTW, what was the Yorkshire rippers job? A lorry, or truck driver as well.

      Stanley seems to have a vested interest in refuting that theory- either Stanley’s a published theorist of another suspect and is threatened by how this one makes more sense, or he’s related to him and wants to defend his ancestor.
      Given that lechmere’s great great granddaughter Susan Lechmrre now Clark (a former member of the BNP in a relationship with another such person) supports the theory that her ancestor was Jack the Ripper I think it’s obvious that Stanley isn’t a relative. More likely he’s got a vested interest in another suspect.
      He does seem a bit obsessed though.

    Excellent profiling, John. Your reference to cuts and a trade, triggered an old memory. I’m now convinced the Ripper was a butcher, and this is why. In 1977 I had a summer job in a pork processing factory in Holland. The pigs arrived in overloaded trucks. Offloaded, they started to squeal in anticipation of their death. They were stunned using an electrical probe, and hung upside-down on a moving rail. Throat cut, blood flows down into drain. Abdomen sliced open, one cut. Organs, entrails delicately removed, no fuss, sharp knife. Ten men on a raised platform doing this, round the clock, 8-hour shifts. These men were skilled, they knew their tools, and could, literally, do that job in the dark. They were also different, and saw themselves as different from other workers. They loved waving entrails at unsuspecting fellow workers, especially women. Those were the days of “anything goes on the factory floor”, and usually did ; )

    He strangled his victims first. The throat cutting came after. And frankly anybody who went off hunting game could learn the same skills. He could even have bought dead animals at the local butchers and practised if he so wanted. Experts at the time could not agree on whether his knowledge of biology required expertise or just basic knowledge. So I wouldn't read too much into what the MO says about his skillset or job.

    Kosminsky was likely JTR. The police knew it and he was put away in a nut house after he was under house arrest for a couple months. A witness identified Kosminsky as the man seen with one of the victims minutes before she was killed, but wouldn't testify against him because he was a fellow Polish Jew.

      Confusion over the names.... it was David Cohen aka Nathan Kaminsky. Kominsky was a harmless imbecile.

    • @clayallison7321
      @clayallison7321 3 года назад +2

      The name Kosminsky is a very likely candidate because he was named by 3 high ranking police officers, 2 of them who were adamant he was the killer and he was caught, brought to Colney Hatch Asylum and died shortly after. The problem is we don't have a certain first name. The late great Martin Fido found Aaron Kosminsky in the registers, but he doesn't seem to be the one (he lived till 1919 and was non-violent). David Cohen might be a better fit, but we know nothing about him (besides his short stay in Colney Hatch until his death) and Kaminsky is another candidate with a similar name.
      Cohen might have been an alias or maybe the real Kosminski/JTR file was sent back to Scotland Yard after his death and got lost while his name was kept out of the regular register due to the high profile nature of his case.
      Fact is : both Donald Swanson and Robert Anderson arguably the two best informed men on the whole case claim JTR was caught but never tried because the witness who identified him refused to testify. He was shipped of to Colney Hatch instead. In his private marginalia Swanson gives the name Kosminski and the reason why the witness refused to testify : he was a fellow Polish Jew.

      Yes. It is universally accepted that the killer used strangling to silence the victim, thus allowing him to carry out their mutilations. The mutilations is key here and the desecration of the bodies... He asphixiated in order to mutilate. Brutal speed of dispatching and I'd say the sexual elements came into play with the mutilation.

    There was one guy that seen him, a polish guy but refused to give a description. Most likely out of fear, but regardless there was one. Also, Mary Jane's organs were found spread around the room but only her heart was missing. This seems like a crime of passion. My likely candidate is Joseph Barnett. He knew at least two of the victims personally, besides Mary. The room was locked from the outside and only two people had the key, besides Mary. Those two are the Landlord and Joseph Barnett. The viciousness of the crime against Mary could be seen as a rage killing, or a crime of passion. Seeing how Joseph and Mary got into a fight the day of the murder, on top of the other details of this theory, Joseph seems to be the most likely suspect.

  • @sophiegilbert6381
    @sophiegilbert6381 4 года назад +4

    My understanding is that the victims were strangled first, with bruising on their face and neck. There was a finger shaped bruise on Polly Nichols’ face and neck. When the throat was then cut, there would not have been as much blood, as the arterial spray would not occur post-mortem. Charles Allen Lechmere is an interesting possibility, but what makes me unsure about him being the killer is that he was married and fathered twelve children. It would interest me to know whether the killer’s profile includes the likelihood of whether he was single or had a family of his own. To me, Charles Lechmere seems unlikely for that reason, but of course anything is possible. I tend to favor the theory centered around Carl Feigenbaum, a merchant sailor, who worked on a German ship that was docked in London on the dates of the murders. Sailors walked the short distance to Whitechapel to patronize the prostitutes, and Carl Feigenbaum was later caught cutting a woman’s throat in New York, convicted, and executed at Sing-Sing.

    • @lyndoncmp5751
      @lyndoncmp5751 2 года назад +1

      I very much doubt he was from overseas and not local to the area. Lechmere is more fitting than Fiegenbaum. Fiegenbaum wouldn't have been that familiar with all the back streets. You'd need years of local hands on knowledge for that, particularly before Google Maps hehe.

    • @yvehooson9262
      @yvehooson9262 Год назад

      I agree with @lyndoncmp5751, this area of Whitechapel was a maze of alley ways and dimly lit streets, the killer navigated his way round in near darkness and clearly knew the place like the back of his hand. That isn't some sailor with a few weeks in the port.

    • @stevephillips6309
      @stevephillips6309 10 месяцев назад +1

      You are right that they were strangled before the mutilations were inflicted. This would explain the lack of blood on the clothing. These were planned killings where the killer had been stalking the area for weeks before the killings in my view. He knew the area, where it was safest to do the killings but he took a big risk with Annie Chapman. Am still at a loss as to how he was able to do such specific mutilations in limited light with poor street lighting. The organs were surgically removed and that wouldn't have happened with just frenzied slashing?
      With Kelly, though he had the luxury of being indoors, the firelight but I always ask myself as to whether he was invited in or knew where she lived and called around and let himself in by lifting the door latch through the broken window. Is a possibility that a man was seen with Mary at around 2.00am so he could have left and left Mary alone when the killer called later and butchered her at around 4.00am that morning.

      Jacob Levy
      by Mark King
      Jacob Levy was born in Aldgate in 1856, the son of Joseph and Caroline Levy, the former having a butchers business situated at 111 Middlesex Street, Spitalfields. The 1881 census returns list Jacob as a butcher by trade, residing along with his wife and two children at 11 Fieldgate Street, Whitechapel. The 1851, 1861 and 1871 census returns list a Hyam Levy, his wife Frances, and his family residing at 36 Middlesex Street, Aldgate, again with a successful butchering business, but by 1881 the returns now list the widowed Frances as head of the household and employed as a butcher.
      Hyam and Frances Levy were the parents of Joseph Hyam Levy who was born in Aldgate in 1841 and who by 1888 had a butchers business himself situated at 1 Hutchinson Street, Aldgate, which was geographically sited at the junction of Middlesex Street, a mere sixty yards or so from number 36 Middlesex Street where Kelly's London Business Directory for 1888 lists Jacob Levy, his wife Sarah, and numerous children as residing, with Jacob once again employed as a butcher. By 1891 the census returns list Sarah Levy (a butcher by trade) as head of the household, but now living at 69 Middlesex Street. If Jacob Levy was not related to Joseph Hyam Levy then they would undoubtedly have known one another, either by sight or by acquaintance.
      On 15 August 1890 Jacob Levy was delivered to the City of London lunatic asylum, Stone, in Kent, as an insane person. Under the heading of 'address of friends', as recorded in his case notes, a man named Isaac Barnett was entered at 87 Middlesex Street, and according to the 1890 Business Directories lists he was a dairyman. Jacob's occupation was noted as that of a butcher and the cause of his illness was mania and which had a duration of `some time'. His hereditary predisposition was that his eldest brother was insane and that his expression of countenance was 'restless'. In description his bodily health was good and he stood at 5' 3" tall and weighed 9 stone 3 pounds.
      His previous history was that he was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment back in 1886, but was instead sent to the Essex County asylum. Additional observations during his term at Stone was that his wife had complained that he almost ruined her business: "he also feels that if he is not restrained he will do some violence to someone; he complains about hearing strange noises; cries for no reason; feels compelled to do acts that his conscience cannot stand; and has a conscience of a feeling of exaltation". His wife also revealed that he was formerly a shrewd businessman and that "he does not sleep at nights and wanders around aimlessly for hours".
      At 7.52pm on the evening of the 29 July 1891 Jacob finally died at the asylum from General Paralysis of the Insane brought on by the serious sexually transmitted disease syphilis, therefore indicating a possibility of liaisons with the Aldgate/Whitechapel prostitutes.
      The calendar records for the Central Criminal Court have an entry for Jacob Levy having been arrested on 10 March 1886 for the theft of a weight of meat from his master Hyman Sampson, who formerly had a butcher's business at 58 Goulston Street, and he was found guilty of the charge on 6 April 1886 and sentenced to twelve months at Holloway Prison.
      Jacob may very well have blamed prostitutes for the cause of his illness together with the impending failure of his once successful family butchering business, and he may also have believed, or assumed, that his children were now syphilitic.
      At 8.30pm on 29 September 1888 Catharine Eddowes was taken into police custody by PC Robinson of the City Police for causing a drunken disturbance outside 29 Aldgate High Street and she was finally released at 1.00am. Rather than make her way home to Flower and Dean Street, Catharine once again headed towards the Aldgate vicinity. At about 1.30am three men named as Joseph Lawende, Harry Harris and Joseph Hyam Levy had left the Imperial Club situated at 16-17 Duke's Place, Aldgate, and about four minutes later, and about fifteen yards from the club, they noticed a man and a woman standing talking quietly to one another at the entrance to Church Passage, which led into Mitre Square. Some ten minutes later Catharine Eddowes was found murdered and extensively mutilated in a dark and desolate corner of the square.
      The couple, observed in particular by Joseph Levy, had, as it appears, alarmed him to a certain degree as he had remarked to his companion Harry Harris that "I don't like going home by myself when I see these sort of characters about... I'm off!" and he further added that the Court (meaning Mitre Square) ought to be watched.
      The Evening News for 9 October 1888 reported that "Mr Levy is absolutely obstinate and refuses to give the slightest information and he leaves one to infer that he knows something but that he is afraid to be called on the inquest. At the inquest Levy admitted observing a man and a woman at the entrance to Church Passage though he did not take any particular notice of them although he described the man as having been three inches taller than the woman (Eddowes and Jacob Levy stood 5'0" and 5'3" tall respectively) and when pressed under cross examination he denied thinking her appearance as `terrible' and went on to add that he was not exactly afraid for himself". So therefore could the butcher Joseph Levy have in fact recognized his neighbour the butcher Jacob Levy as the man he had seen in the company of a woman who he may have presumed to be a prostitute that was to be influential in causing him so much alarm?
      The opposite sides of Middlesex Street were divided by the boundaries of both the City of London and Metropolitan police jurisdictions and nestling within the City boundaries resided Jacob Levy, and moreover, some 100 metres away to the east and over in the Met's jurisdiction was located Goulston Street - and it was here that the Ripper, when on flight from Mitre Square, had discarded a cut away portion of Catharine Eddowes apron inside a doorway entrance to some tenement buildings. Now this may have been purposely contrived by Jacob in an attempt to deceive the authorities into assuming the direction as to which the Ripper was heading, seemingly deeper into the Met's jurisdiction, so therefore Jacob may very well have rapidly backtracked after employing this false trail the mere 100 metres across the border and into the City's jurisdiction, and the safety of his home, for he may very well have suspected that Joseph Hyam Levy had only minutes earlier recognised him in the company of a woman believed to be Catharine Eddowes loitering inside the covered entrance to Church Passage.
      Following this episode the Ripper murders were to experience the longest gap since the series had begun and possibly not until the following year was he again to strike out on the street. The Eddowes murder was unique in one way to all Ripper, or Ripper-related, murders as it was the only one committed within the City boundaries, and so therefore an explanation possibly being due to the opportunity presenting itself, and furthermore at around the same time as Catharine Eddowes' release from police custody at about 1.0am the murder of Elizabeth Stride over at Berner Street (in the Met's jurisdiction) had fled the neighbourhood and was heading in a westerly direction towards the Aldgate vicinity.
      Dr Frederick Gordon Brown, surgeon to the City of London Police, and who was present at Eddowes' post mortem at the Golden Lane mortuary, had opinionated that the miscreant's knowledge of anatomy may be possessed by someone in the habit of cutting up animals, and some years later in 1905 at a meeting of the Crimes Club, he again believed that the cuts inflicted upon Catharine Eddowes were suggestive of a butcher. Moreover, Godfrey Lushington, a civil servant to the Home Office, had made it his opinion that the murder of both Stride and Eddowes was the work of a Jew.
      Interestingly, three days prior to Catharine's death she had returned from a hop-picking excursion in Kent claiming her belief as to the identity of the Whitechapel murderer and was constantly seen in the Aidgate vicinity within the last hours of her life, in such a vicinity to where the diseased and insane Jewish butcher Jacob Levy lived and worked, and the year 1891 coinciding with Jacob's death saw the official police files on the case finally and inexplicably close.
      Finally, and just under six weeks later, after the Eddowes murder, the witness George Hutchinson had reported that he had seen a man of a Jewish appearance accompanying Mary Jane Kelly on the night of the Millers Court murder, and who he thought as seeing once again a short time later in Jacob's street of residence - Middlesex Street!

    I really appreciate your work here. I like the manner in which you've conducted this profile, with an emphasis on not looking at the list of suspects or even possible suspects, but instead at the crime scene evidence, the environment and the types of victim. It's actually rather morbid, unfortunately for you, but please know that your work is greatly appreciated.
    I did have a question separate to this, what are your thoughts on geographic profiling? For example, Rossmo?
    Thank you for your time,

    A great, albeit frightening, analysis and profile of Jack The Ripper, thanks John. It all sounds pretty reasonable to me that he would need to blend in and so having blood on him, wouldn't be unusual or out of the ordinary for him. Psychologically, it also makes sense (for as much as someone doing such obscene things to another human can). So, that means the ladies could actually feel the exploratory cuts and removal of body parts as they were bleeding out from the neck slice. Good grief. I guess I'd always comforted myself with the thought that they had already passed away when he did the next part. It's so disturbing. I've been following the Delphi double murder and your episodes on that and I'm seeing some similarities here, so I hope that guy doesn't get the opportunity for further killing. Of course, we know so little about the injuries inflicted on Libby and Abby that it's hard to know, but there appear to be some crossovers in terms of the perpetrator. I hope not!

    Both professional investigators and amateur sleuths like to think Charles Lechmere (1849- 1920) was the infamous 'Jack the Ripper'. His route to work at Pickford Rd from Doveton Street took him past all the points where Jack the Ripper's victims were found. And, he was passing through at , or near, the time each woman was being murdered. That's according to eye witness reports. Plus, he did work as a meat deliverer, where having blood on your clothes wouldn't raise a brow. So, he could fit your profile Kelly right?

As with all serial killers I think there are probably more victims to the ripper case. Could be a different modus operandi but I think there probably are more victims. Remember, the time period. There was probably a lot of homocide victims back then. Really interesting case

    Overall a very good analysis, except, please consider this: a person who could find and remove uteruses and kidneys while working in very dark locations with next to no light (except for gaslights prevalent in 1888), was much more than just someone who worked in slaughterhouses. Also, ALL of the Ripper murders - according to previously documented research - occurred on Friday or Saturday nights. This indicates, but does not prove, that the Ripper had a regular job, working daytimes, Monday through Friday, or at very least, Sunday through Thursday.

    Hello! I've been a subscriber for years and you are my favorite profile, so I am really curious about your take on something. I'm re-reading Frankenstein and I'm wondering if Victor is a possible psychopath or sociopath ( I definitely believe he could be a narcissist) because he shows more fondness, obsession and a sort of cold affection than love to anyone. He appreciates his family. Speaks highly of his childhood, but it feels like he owns Elizabeth ever since they were children and sees her as an extension of himself like a pet. His mother did refer to her as a 'pretty present'. Also, when people complimented her, he took it as praise to him. Pride to his ego. I know you're working on big cases but I was just curious as to your thoughts given your experiences.

    I think that non of the suspects that have been accused over the years were the killer.
    The victims were the very lowest level of society and the chances that a doctor, a member of the Royal family, a freemason, a solicitor/teacher, or anyone else who was in the middle class and upper classes would have ever met or associated with the women who were murdered.
    The killer was probably a Victorian London version of Dahmer, Gein, Wayne Williams, Peter Sutcliffe, etc and were basically nobodies who were local to the area of the murders and was probably as poor or maybe just slightly more prosperous than the victims.

    He killed or almost killed them with an arm choke hold, one that leaves no obvious bruising and reduces the blood pressure before the arterial cuts, there was very little blood at any of the scenes despite what you would imagine the scene to be like. So he swiftly choked, overpowered and then butchered these women quickly and somewhat efficiently, it wasn't a professional hit but it also wasn't an out of control madman, he was very deliberate and would have had some sort of experience.

    John I once read a book written anonomously by a guy who started killing because his secretary refused him a date in the late 1800s. He said, 'he knew he was ugly but he had his own company so wealthy'. He went round London and Whitechapel killing women creeping up on them. He strangled one with a wire made in a garrot. He was traced and arrested. He killed five and made atttempts to kill more. This was around the time of the ripper murders. I can't remember the name of the book sorry.
    The ripper murders....it was written that one man POI had connections to Whitehaven in Cumbria UK and either was associated with a Dr or was a Dr. I perhaps should read more on this it's been a long time since I read these stories.
    The Yorkshire Ripper in UK known as Peter Sutcliffe was interviewed 9 times prior to his arrest. I spoke to him three times over a twelve year period not knowing I was in the presence of a killer. The last time I spoke to him was when he followed me in broad daylight in Seacroft shopping Center while I was with my mum and six year old child. He kept following us. I was annoyed. My mum said I'm over reacting. He offered ME a lift. My mum gave him my shopping and he started walking off with it. Long story short. I got in his heavy goods truck and he gave me a lift home. He seemed to know really where I lived. He brought my shopping in and we were in my kitchen. Moving towards me he said... 'So you live here on your own? At that my boyfriend's voice sounded, 'Oh your home then? The guy took off quickley, he hid his face. My boyfriend unbeknown to me had changed his shift at work. That's why he as home. There is more to this story. Shortly after this there was a murder of my BoyFs friend where Leeds University is and Peter Sutcliffe was accused. Then he was arrested in January 1981. I first spoke to him in May 1968 in broad daylight and discovered he had a ballpoint hammer in his left pocket. I asked him what had he got it for and his reply was he had forgotten to leave it at work. We had talked for a good 15 minutes or longer. He was just about one minute from my home. I knew this man who police wanted for his crimes was a Yorkshire man but the police were not interested in my info. I didn't know his name. I was one of several young females in 1977 who told police this. They didn't even bother to take a statement from me in 1977 when he followed me home then I was in my friends car. I was terrified. I knew I had seen his face before and couldn't think.
    The reason I'm mentioning this is that people in UK were led to believe this monster only attacked and killed prostitutes at night.
    This was not the case. I was never a prostitute and rarely went out at night.
    It later turned out he knew my childhood friend who he worked with digging graves. I also was surprised to learn I knew several people that was either a close friend of his or associate or related. Scary to say the least.
    I could write a book on this alone, but I won't. Just had to tell you in a diluted fashion.
    We just never know who might know about us in proximity of ten miles or twenty miles. So it's possible to me L&A killer (s) is not too far away.
    Peter Sutcliffe used to like sitting in the dug out grave in the graveyard and had been heard talking to himself by the guys that worked with him. He had told them he liked sitting in the dug out grave. They left their job because he creeped them out.
    Sorry for going on a bit.
    Thanks for this interesting video.
    I have some stories on the history of them bygone days including the modern day ripper. And other serial killers. Not read anything in awhile. Too much of that kind of reading is not good for the brain.
    Food for thought hhmm🤔

      He does a profile on Jack the Ripper on “Jack the Ripper Revealed”. It’s on RUclips. He thought it was Aaron Kosminski or someone like him. He didn’t think this man could have functioned very well in society. And lived in White Chapel because of how he was able to escape so quickly. He was put in an institution after the Ripper murders. And died there. He was a barber. But I believe barbers still bled people back then. And had immigrated from Poland. However Kosminski although he had been institutionalized, he lived until 1919. And he didn’t speak English very well. So it’s thought he couldn’t have lured the women very easily. Now it is thought he had been confused with Aaron Davis Cohen. Who was another Polish/Jewish immigrant who was known for violence and hated women. He was institutionalized soon after Mary Jane Kelly’s Murder. He was extremely violent in the institution and had to be restrained a number of times. And died in 1889.

    Mr. Kelly, ty for this. Have you looked at H.H. Holmes for Jack the Ripper? The last 10 years Holmes, ( H. Mudget ), has moved to the top spot. Ironically he was America's 1st serial killer, while, Jack the Ripper was Britain's first serial killer. Both active from 1886 - 1894. Holmes killed in so many different ways. Burning. Acid bathes. Strangulation. Disembowel. He sold the the bodies to medical schools, &, or the parts. Built a murder motel in Chicago. 1891-93. Killed an estimated 20-200 there. I know it seemed most of it was insurance scams, but, their were many very personal style killings, of men, women, &, kids. Their is an extensive record of his activity as he was a prominent businessman, ( Dr. Jekyll, mr hyde persona ). His height 5'5 - 5'7. , his looks, his age , many things matches description of Jack the Ripper. He was 27 in 1888 and, he disappeared from Chicago for 6 months. ( Holmes was listed on ship manifesto). He had a picture of 1 the Ripper victims in his private possessions, ( bag he left behind in Indiana). He had a female stripped of skin in his murder motel, ( castle), just like the last victim, Mary Kelly. ( witnessed by his employee). He went to Physician school. Was a licensed Doctor but never practiced. He had a bag of physician knives. So many things about him, its , to much ti mention. On the surface he looks an all wrong M O. But, indepth look he becomes more & more interesting. Maybe you could profile Holmes or look into it. Thank you Sir.

This appears to be the primary purpose of the killings. HH Holmes grandson says Holmes was seeking out an elixir of some sort to sell using these body parts. Which I believe matches the MO of these killings. Also, the “from Hell” letter didn’t Holmes claim he was the devil? What’s your thoughts?

      Hey Dan, I'm going to have to give this some more thought. One thing that is throwing me off is that Holmes was definitely a conman and a killer, where the Ripper just seemed to be an exclusive killer. Many thanks.

      The problem with Holmes being the Ripper is that he was first and foremost a con man and many records in the cook county legal archives place Holmes in Chicago during the Ripper murders. He was building his so-called “murder castle” during the time of the Ripper murders and he had a penchant for swindling contractors and creditors for services and goods relating to the building of his hotel. He was sued countless times and the receipts used as evidence in said lawsuits as well as the lawsuits themselves place him in Chicago during the Ripper murders. Anything said by Holmes’ relatives should be taken with extreme caution, the whole Holmes was the Ripper theory was concocted in order to sell books but it’s all baseless and any “evidence” claimed to prove he was the Ripper is pure bs.

    I think Jack himself would get a real kick, knowing we are still talking about him today. He was not only out to quench his lust for blood, but create fear and shock.He probably got off on all the attention and taunted the Police, he thought he was too clever for.But why did the killings stop?. or did they.Just my opinion of course. Great video explanation.Did he have a hate of all women?. or was it that Prostitutes were more easy prey. in the night and dark shadows.

    There was a recent documentary about a possible suspect, a guy who used to cart meat around in the early hours of the night/morning. And I agree with the assessment him being a butcher over a surgeon, because this was East London in 1888, it might have been possible, but you are more than likely going to have people in lower class occupations in the area and the Ripper blended in the area and wouldn't look out of place as a resident.

      Jacob Levy
      by Mark King

    You said the early murders are important because that's where the mistakes are. I believe that JTR's mistake with Polly Nichols was taking her on a street (Bucks Row) with only two outlets, one on each end. All subsequent murders happened in places with at least three routes of escape. I think his choice of location with Polly Nichols almost got him caught. But JTR (AKA Charles Allen Lechmere, AKA Charles Allen Cross) managed to talk his way out of it by pretending he'd just walked up on this poor, unfortunate woman when Robert Paul happened upon him standing over Polly Nichols. He lied about circumstances (saying he'd spoken to another police officer who had asked him to find another officer to help deal with a woman lying on the ground). He had NOT spoken to another officer, and he minimized the woman's situation, thus allowing himself to get past the officer. He only showed up to give evidence AFTER Robert Paul did so and reported Cross/Lechmere's presence at the scene, gave the false name of Cross during the inquiry for no apparent reason.

    A few questions.
    The Kelly murder is a wild departure from Jacks previous victim selection. He'd also shown no interest in cannibalism or seeking a spotlight previously. Why do you think Kelly was a ripper victim, and not someone else ineptly staging an unrelated murder to throw police off their scent, by trying to make it seem like the same killer? After all, murders happened in whitechapel quite frequently in those days.
    Why label him a sadist? He didn't torture his victims. The reason you cut neck arteries on animals during slaughter is to cause the animal to go unconscious as quickly and humanely as possible (before the boltgun invention anyway). It seems he went out of his way to make it relatively quick and painless. The mutilation was postmortem.
    The mutilation focused on reproductive organs until Kelly at least. Given the similarity of the M.O and victim selection previously, I would assume he was using these women to fulfil a fantasy of killing someone close to him. I suspect mommy issues. I think his victims resembled her in appearance and lifestyle. There are several modern serial killers cut from that same template.
    You say Jack was male because a woman couldn't physically pull it off, because women (working girls anyway) back then were tough enough to kick mens asses. To me thats a weird argument to make.
    I do think he was a guy, but I don't think this is an issue of size or strength. If anything, there might be an advantage in being smaller and skinnier, because the victim might feel safer, and leave themselves more open to a surprise attack. A sharp knife requires little strength, and the victim would very quickly go limp, after having it's arteries opened like that.
    I think he was a local lad with a stable job, no wife or kids of his own, at least at the time of the murders. Coming from a broken home. I suspect he'd be in his 20s. Single mom on the bottle, making a living as a sex worker.
    Of course, this is all speculation on my part, and I know I'm probably wrong. But right now this is what would best explain the case to me.

  • @Mr.56Goldtop
    @Mr.56Goldtop 4 года назад +1

    I'm not a psychologist, but it seems to me after watching this that maybe he "progreesed" because his fantasies were not being fulfilled. Most fantasies are completely different in the real world as opposed to in your head where you control every aspect of it. He may have escalated because of a lack of gratification after each murder, and was trying to hit that mark of complete orgasmic gratification, that he would probably never reach in the real world. Also, I'm not sure how readily available ice was back then, being there weren't any 7-11s around at that time. But if you worked in the meat processing industry you would certainly have had access to ice.

    • @MrPsgirl97
      @MrPsgirl97 3 года назад +1

      There are a surprising number of factual inaccuracies in this video and one of the most glaring is the comment about the ice. The kidney wasn't stored on ice but was preserved in spirits of wine. Also its thought that its unlikely that Jack authored any of the letters attributed to him, so I find it odd that Kelly just sort of takes that for granted. It was thought that this letter with the kidney was most likely a prank by a medical student who would have had access to organs and since they could only barely determine whether an organ came from a human or animal they would not have been able to tell whether this kidney actually came from the victim or not.

    • @yvehooson9262
      @yvehooson9262 Год назад

      @@MrPsgirl97 I was wondering if anyone else felt that this profile is based on a huge presumption that the 'From Hell' letter was actually from the killer. Most researchers seem united in thinking that letter was faked and the kidney may not even have been human. I have always wondered if he removed the organs to consume or if they were trophies to him, maybe he preserved them in alcohol when he got to a safe place. I think it's a huge leap to state he was a cannibal like Dahmer, who from what I understand was similar to Dennis Nilsen in keeping the bodies of his victims as company. The Ripper was usually very quick to dispatch
      his victims and then get away from the scene of the crime, Mary Kelly being the obvious exception. To me, that crime says more about his intentions than any of the others, the way he mutilated her face in particular, seemed about obliterating the woman. He seemed to want to destroy all trace and not consume. Again, yes, he took the heart, many see this as symbolic that he knew her, but I doubt he intended to eat any of his trophies, he wanted those prizes around for some time to come so that he could relive his exploits.

This makes me wonder what the police made the photograph for if they weren't going to show HOW she was killed. Some analysts claim to see the shadowline of a ligature around her throat, but that could be nothing more than the shadow of her jawline. However, though there's no indication by the appearance of her mouth that she was strangled to death, that doesn't preclude the possibility that she was pulled down to the ground with a ligature at the throat and then either gut-stabbed or had her throat cut....... or BOTH!!

    Hi John Kelly...as i said before i have been studying serial murder for years and when i researched this case i used only the facts of the case and i also looked into the weather,lighting and area of where the victims were found.I knew that i could not use what police had said because they had no idea what a serial killer was or how to catch one so i used today's tools. I then went through the over 130 suspects until i had one man left who fit in every way.This man was 28 years old was 5'7 foot tall looked like the man seen with the victims.He lived alone in the middle of all the murders on Commercial and Wentworth st.this man was seen outside Mary kelly's flat.This mans name is George Hutchinson! Most people over look him because police believed his made up statement.as you know almost all serial killers get caught because of their ego! and had police known what we do now about serial killers he would have been caught.the mistake he made was being seen and we would never even know about him had he not been seen by Sara Lewis.He comes forward three days after Mary Kelly's Murder and after reading he had been seen. So his made up statement has so many clues pointing to him because of his ego.He says he Knows Mary and that she came up and asked him for money he told her he had none and she says she must find some and walks away.He then says a man stops her and they start talking and then walk to her flat.He then says he followed them and heard her say she lost her handkerchief and the man pulls a red one out and gives it to her.He stands in a doorway and watches for 45 minutes and when nobody comes out he leaves.He gives a greatly detailed description of the man with her,he even says the color of this mans eye lashes! and a gold watch with a red ruby! Now the things he says in his statement show that he has been following what has been in the paper and on the street about the murders.when they say he looked like a Jew he gave them the writing on the wall.He knew he had been seen talking to Eddowe's before her murder because the man who saw them said he looked like a sailor and had a red handkerchief around his neck and that's why he said the man gave Mary a handkerchief and made sure to say it was red! then he hears they say he is a rich toff down slumming and that is the description of the man he says was with Mary.now on this night its cold with a light rain and the only light is gas light and the street he was on is the most dangerous street in all of London.so the clues are because of the weather and lighting he would not be able to see the color of his hair or most of the clothes he says the man had on and would not be able to see the color of the handkerchief.another clue because of the street being as bad as they say no man would let a gold watch be seen for fear of being mugged.the next clue he had no reason to follow and wait 45 minutes to see if a John left Mary's flat.another clue he dose not come forward to tell of his friends murder until he reads he had been seen. George Hutchinson was out hunting that night but because of all the police he had to stay close to home and he was running out of time to get a victim.Mary would never have become a victim had she not been in the wrong place at the wrong time,she was not the type of victim he was looking for but because she asked for money when he was hunting she became a target.he followed her home and waited till it was clear and then went to her door and because she knew him let him in,we know he knew Mary and i believe he knew Eddowes as well and the reason is as you know lust killers always target people they do not know but if they do kill a known victim they will always destroy the face and sometimes the body to depersonalize the victim only Eddowes and Kelly had this done..So most people over look him because police believed his statement but that is a mistake that police still make today look at the Yorkshire ripper he was talked to nine times before being caught,Ted Bundy was a law student and was overlooked and the green river killer Gary Ridgway passed a lie detector test and was put in the checked pile.It also does not help the case when you have authors who know nothing about serial murder writing books and picking and suspect and making him fit and its gone on for so long that the case is now nothing but a joke and a money tree.If we can find where George Hutchinson went when he left London in 1891 we should be able to find more ripper murders.and if that happens and we can pin one on him that should be enough to prove he was the ripper to the world.I believe the letters sent to police were fake but two of them the Sept.17th letter and the from Hell letter. I hope you will look into this case and George Hutchinson and tell me what you think,do you believe i have found Jack the ripper? I don't have the ins to get the evidence and track this man like you do. I don't want anything for finding Jack because finding him will stop the greed and give the victims the respect they should have. please get back to me on this thank you Joey Lowell

      What makes you think "you" 'have found Jack the ripper [sic]'? It takes a lot of chutzpah to claim the credit for someone else's work! Be that as it may, George Hutchinson has been a suspect for a very long time, although nobody seriously thinks he's a credible one. All you have actually done is to regurgitate Robert ("Bob") Hinton's work put forward in his book "From Hell: The Jack the Ripper Mystery" (first published: 1998) and Stephen Senise's "Jewbaiter Jack the Ripper: New Evidence and Theory (first published: 2017). He may well be a valid and viable suspect, he may even be *the* suspect, but you're going to need a lot more than the fact he was seen loitering outside Miller's Court on the night of Mary Jane Kelly's murder to determine that with any certainty because there's every chance he was telling the truth and she went willingly into her room with the man who eventually murdered her (and that it wasn't Hutchinson himself), just as there is every possibility that Hutchinson simply did not see that man leave again because -- judging by the extent of the butchery from the crime scene photos -- the real Jack the Ripper spent far longer inside than the 45 minutes your boy George spent outside standing in the cold.

      Hey Janie, some of these killers get extreme gratification from slashing through their victims bodies and taking various body parts. Many thanks.

    I had a couple thoughts regarding this sick individuals. I was always told follow the money, that being said the Newspapers had to have their hand in it, they gave the killer(s) a trade name, why do people not think it's not the Newspaper Industry? Secondly did Whitechapel have any of those elevator type devices that go down from sidewalk area for shop deliveries ?

    Professional profiler knows what he`s doing and some insights are very interesting but I believe that input data is not entirely correct. First: the victims were of the lowest class of the low. They were alcoholic, poor and old and they had no (except for the last victim) real qualities as women so it has to be assumed that they were, most likeley, a victims of opportunity. They were the easiest victims - which John Douglas pointed out in his profile. Second: the choice of place of killing, which would be undisturbed, was really a choice of a victim - to perform her job without being disturbed. Third: there is a real doubt that the "From Hell" letter was genuine. Fourth: There is no reason to assume that the victim knew the killer: like I said all of them were from the poorest class and they worked with their bodies as a matter of survival. For them having sex with anyone with money was good enough. But still there are some good insights: Rippers familiarity with blood, his strength, his knowing of the area etc.

      I think the prostitutes unwittingly led the killer to a secluded place to be strangled and then ripped open. The from hell letter was made by the papers, I think the mr lusk letter was genuine as it had a piece of kidney inside. I think Mary Kelly’s boyfriend was Jack the Ripper. He was a butcher and lived locally and knew all the victims from local pubs.

    This is more of a theorizing. Is I wonder if there is a document out there conclusively has Jack admit who he is.
    Jack most likely developed a fantasy building up to killing women. I am wondering if Jack the Ripper wrote an unidentified diary. With biographical data and entries developing the fantasy would be interesting.
    It would also be interesting if the handwriting in the theorized diary would have the same handwriting as the Letter from Hell.

    Really interesting profile! I don't know much about this case, but from the information you are giving so far in this video, I am thinking that I agree with you that the killer is most certainly male and probably did work on a farm/slaughterhouse, and I am also thinking why did he want their uteruses?? Could he have been a male who wanted to be female and that is why he was taking their uteruses? Could the killer even possibly have dressed like a woman due to his desire to be female??

      Also it seems like he was very focused on uteruses because it seems like on his 3rd kill, he only took the kidney to send it to the vigilance director...he didn't mind parting with the kidney, and he wanted to keep the uterus. It's just so strange...it makes me wonder if it could have been a man who wanted to be a woman??

    Why did the killings suddenly stop, and the Police closed the case?. There are many theories
    One American prolifer detective, claims, there were very similar killings, relating to the ripper, soon after, but in New York. Did the ripper flee to NY?, Is that why the killings in London suddenly ended, did the police know who the killer was?, did they get him?.

    With all the mutations and the cutting out of organs I believe that he may have had a background in some kind of medical science.

    One point that you're not covering is victim selection. Most serial killers have a "type" that they're looking for. Because it's essentially a perversion of normal sexual functioning. A normal guy might be attracted to, say, chubby redheads. Then he would look to date and/or mary surch women. The serial killer is looking for victims who are his type. The first 4 victims were all prostitutes in their mid to late 40s. That's a little old for the prostitution game even today. But in the 1880s, when the life expectancy was about 50 over all, it was super old. And prostitutes age fast. They were also all homeless. They were trying to earn enough money to purchase a room for the night. So that means they didn't shower (which wasn't very popular back then anyhow. ) they had no dental care. They probably didn't brush their teeth with regulatory. The first 4 victims had about 4 or 5 teeth each. In other words, they were disgusting! Old toothless, granies who didn't bathe and charged about 1 penny for sex, from men as gross as they were. That's why i think #5, mary Kelly, who was 25 and pretty and was also the only one killed indoors, was not the same killer. I also think the letters to the press (including the kidney letter) have been pretty much debunked. The newspapers at the time just made up their own news to sell more papers (ok, maybe some things don't change!)
