We love our 2023 30BHS! Like you, not sure why they did not plumb the sewer drains together. Also, we had major issues with our auto leveling system which are being fixed right now. Great floor plan!
We just bought the 2024 of this model at the Tampa RV Supershow! Love it! As we were walking through it, hubby said "look, it's the FBI listening device!" We sooo appreciate your reviews on these rigs! It helped us narrow down to what we actually wanted (plus we really enjoy all your explanations and antics! haha! )!
Hey Josh! Thank you for making this video! We are actually coming up to your home Bish’s location in Coldwater Michigan and pick up our new Cougar 30bhs! We are so excited! We have been watching your videos for years and are so thankful that you are doing what you are doing for the RV community! We would love to meet up with you when we pick ours up on Saturday if you are going to be there! Thank you very much for what you do!
I'm a huge fan of this floorplan. Other TV that's useable for the bunks as well as the seating is great for movie night. The electric fireplace is always a plus and the double entry is great. This is one I'd highly consider honestly.
Second door into bedroom gives you bathroom access in road mode…great idea for this floorplan! Still passing on the pass thru bathroom. Really like this floorplan overall!
I’ve watched your videos for years and I appreciate you showing the good with the bad. Because, of your videos my wife and I made the trip to Coldwater last week. So, this week we are heading back to Coldwater to pick up up this very same model. Just wanted to say thank you for what you do.
@@tommieingle last Friday I think. Sorry h missed you! That was a last minute thing where our new store needed a hand so I offered to help with that transport
I cannot deny. I like this floorplan. look the bunks look like big people capable. The little L shaped dinette with the table that moves and the ottoman., ..chef's kiss. I'd take the theater seat and the full solar package. I'm also going to look at the fifth wheel
Love it! Ok fireplace or storage? Storage please. Also square off that counter top . Also hang dual curtains for uper and lower bunks . Because I would probably use top bunk for some storage and keep that curtains closed lol. Got to have a place for the cra... I mean stuff
The two sewer lines being next to each other is a little odd but fine. The two doors is great because it allows access to the bedroom if the bathroom is in use and you can access the bathroom and kitchen on road mode. The living room is great, everything about this is awesome. I was looking at the 2025 Jayco Jay Feather 27BH until I saw this one. I like this floorplan so much better.
Remove rear bunk mattresses, use top platform as a desk, place for electronic piano keyboard or ham radio station. Install shelves along back wall and use that space as huge pantry Top rear bunk could be removed then utilize the bottom bunk platform as a karaoke stage... This thing is awesome sauce!
I love this trailer! It is a bit big, I wouldn't want to tow it with a half ton, like you said. But other than that, it's fantastic. I like the unique bunks, and I really like the dinette setup. And yeah, I got your references right away, surprisingly. My way back machine actually came through...for a change! LOL
I must be learnin something cause when I seen the fireplace I immediately thought 'they coulda made that storage', then Uncle Josh inserts 'Fireplace or storage?" on the screen :)
Another cool trailer that's using some thought instead of a pre-fab floorplan. The dual sewer outlets isn't great because you still need extra dump parts, but as someone with a 5W that has dump pipes at opposite ends of the trailer, having them so close together is nearly as good as having just one, in comparison. This TT really looks like a near-total package purchase given many of the extra-mile features it's got. I did notice 1 quality issue: the wall laminate layer separating from the wall itself in the rear pass-thru storage, as you pan around.
I have seen this floor plan before (probably a Cougar but can't swear to it) and my passing reaction is "too big" and "too expensive," especially for a future solo camper. I checked the price...and even the MSRP wasn't as bad as I assumed. The features and functionality is surprisingly nice! The storage potential is pretty amazing. All around I like this a lot!
I'm on Team "Square Off That Counter" under the TV. Also, a simple curtain could provide enough potty privacy to negate the walk thru bathroom. Is there a way to reverse the fridge doors? The left-hand swing makes travel stops unnecessarily more challenging. On the subject of travel stops, I'm not a fan of stable steps, and especially so with dual entry rigs. The bedroom entry could be conventional folding steps and add an assist handle. Kudos on the windows, door shades, that great j-lounge with floating table & ottoman, and just an overall fine floorplan. Another fine #NerdHerd production, Uncle Josh.

It would be cool if you could adjust the dinette table legs to lift it to countertop height. It would kind of serve as a pseudo island, giving you more kitchen prep space.
Hi, Josh, hope you and family are doing great. Love this camper, first thought on the rear bunks was (WOW) what a cool space. Love the way the bunks look and all the storage space is great. the L- shape dinette is great for a large family or for a get together will friends or family members. Then after supper perhaps a game of twister, anyone, lol, I think there is enough space for it. Can you tell me what the 5th wheel with the office space from cougar was called so I can look at it, thanks. Have a great weekend and stay safe take care.
I like the 2nd door. One thing, I wish they could put the side valances on the windows in the bedroom, like the living area. It makes sense to block the light in the bedroom where you sleep.
Great video Uncle Josh!!! - HUGE Cougar fan here. I am fortunate enough to be the proud owner of the VERY sadly discontinued Cougar 29BHS. Auto-leveling is a must for me & the wife and it works great!!! Sooooo stable when parked too!!! Different stokes for different folks, I just prefer the 29BHS over the 30BHS for a laundry list of reasons. Both have awesome junk in the trunk, pony storage. Will always prefer bathroom entry door over bedroom entry door. TV viewing from the bunks in the 29BHS is far superior. Walk in pantry in the 29BHS and storage behind tv is incredible. The cheapest part of my camper I feel, and they have not updated it I guess, is the HORRIBLE dollar store fart fan in the bathroom. Such a cheap feature in a luxury trailer. The double headed sewer monster has never bothered me. Keep up the great work and I CANNOT wait for the RV Nerd merchandise to go on sale. I literally check everyday hoping you drop it SOON!!! Nate from Buffalo, NY
I’d like the counter squared off and the fireplace removed. I’d rather have storage there. Otherwise this is a great floor plan and I love the king bed!
very interesting question re the 2 doors. I never used to like that until we got our current Cougar 26RBS with 2 doors. Suddenly I am fine with it. In fact we have often slept with the bedroom door open and just the screen shut, and the window on the other side open as well and gotten very comfortable breeze of fresh air flowing through the bedroom. Would not necessarily do that everywhere, but most of the places we camp it is just fine to do that. Certainly still just as secure as a tent after all... As always, safe travels.
I really think making the dump hook ups close to parallel to the trailer vs pitched down catching any road debris, would do great. And completely hate dual headed sewer monster setups. Now that trailer would be great if the lost the rear L shapped seat and shortened the trailer by 4ft. 300lb hitch weight on the back is nice too
This would be really cool if the bunk room had an optional patio drop-down ramp.. kind of like a non-toy hauler toy hauler if you will.. Just my opinion. But I like the space in this. I know 3/4 ton is the best option, but I am wondering if my F150 which weighs 5K lbs 3.5L Ecoboost, Suprvrrw, with a 1402 lb. payload & 11,300 towing cap rating would, at least give me an option to tow & move this while only slightly or unloaded. This Delta and Valor T21 could be hime based, fur a single or couples set up on some recreational property.
Wouldn’t it be good to have 😂a way to open the top screen on the door? Otherwise, you have to physically go outside to adjust the shade. I’m thinking framed and hinged. As it is it’s not ideal for those disabled. 🙋♀️ I’ve thought this for a long time. This is the only disadvantage I see with the door window and shade. This unit has a great layout! I like the ones with the bath next to the bedroom. Very informative video, as always! Thanks Josh!
yeah that's the case with those window shades MFGs used to offer a version you could close indoors and people hated it I still cannot understand it to this day
Josh when do we get to see a 2025 28bhs the new model...looks like the perfect bunkhouse with actual storage too like keystone did years ago...can't wait to see it
I wonder if they angled the counter to reduce the amount of wasted space behind the fireplace? I like the openness of the floor because of it, but, I think the additional counter space that would have been had if not angled would be useful too.
Just reviewing similar models and I came across a bullet 312 BHS that is extremely cool. And it’s even nicer that Bish RV sells them as well. 👍. I did not see any video from you for that specific model. Maybe that could be one of your new videos.🤔
Love this floorplan. Are there any 5th wheels adopting this open bunk? Grand Design did with the 268bh, but it used a Schwintek for the slide 👎. And It looks like they discontinued in 2023…..☹️.
Hey Josh...we have a 2012 Cougar 30RLS (flat deck 5th wheel). In this video you mention that the floors could develop soft spots due to the material that was used to build the floor. We have a soft spot as you're coming in from the main door. That is a concern of mine. It's just from wear, I believe, not water damage. We're trying to figure out what is the best way to fix it. BTW... we love your videos...keep 'em coming! ❤...Donna
Uncle Josh! Is there a way I can get paid for some ideas and how can we make this happen? haha. Anyhow I think the rear bunk setup is pretty sweet and they could make a u-dinette, my son (and maybe most kids on earth) would absolutely love to nascar the seat. However I don't particularly care for pass through bathrooms and trailers longer than 30'. As I want to be more boon docking, however I'm learning that most RV Trailers seem to not be made for offroad, even light duty ruts & bumps. Anyhow I agree with another comment that I love watching your videos. Hope to see them for years to come!
This is a really cool family camper. We currently have a 2022 whitehawk 29bh but thinking about switching to this. What are the differences in a 2023 and a 2024 model cougar 30bhs? I notice the price is lower for the 2024.
I'm surprised it's under 35 feet. I like the L-shaped dinette, floating table and the ottoman. Needs a closet slide. For the bunkless version of this I would have liked to see them keep this plan, putting a closet where the stairs are instead of going with a u-dinette.
Sweet floor plan no doubt and if anyone is smart and not wanting to gamble with the lives of their family or others family nothing less than a dually 3500/350 style truck with this size unit. If not your going to be getting pushed around by the trailer and that’s not a good thing with all the weekend warriors who are also speed freaks pulling campers down the highway
It's right the below the specs. Like the layout but on more of a budget? Try.. ► Transcend 265BH: ruclips.net/video/ERcqUP3g35w/видео.html Don't want the bunks? ► Cougar 25RDS: ruclips.net/video/_sczz7muqLI/видео.html Want a fifth wheel OR true private office? ► Cougar 29BHL: ruclips.net/video/C_navEk6EJ8/видео.html
Genuine question. The hitch weight and the total weight are well under the max tow capacity of most half ton trucks with max tow packages. Is it the length that’s the issue?
Having done this a while I've seen such variances on half-tons that I exercise a lot of caution with my advisory there. Length is a major factor not included in most towing guides. The other thing here is this is a bunkhouse. You're going to have more people-weight in the truck eating into the CCC. By the time you load a family in the truck and cargo in the RV you often challenge many half-tons It's not impossible for some half-tons to handle this. I just don't want to offer the idea that "if you have ANY half-ton, then you're okay"
How would you compare the build quality of a Cougar compared to a Rockwood? We were originally going to go with a Cougar bunk but it was just too heavy. We've found a Rockwood with a similar Floorplan. The problem is there aren't any Rockwoods nearby for us to go look. I don't want to drive 5-6 hours to find out it looks or feels cheap.
Both are gold level DSI award winners several years running but I would personally give the fit and finish nod to Rockwood though I don't feel cougar does badly by any means
Great floorplan, but not enough kitchen storage. I find the fireplace in any rv to be pointless. A little space heater is fine for my family to gain storage.
Is the bathroom vanity counter solid surface or that thermofoil stuff? I have a 368mbi with the same bottom mount sink and the thermofoil counter. It was not caulked along the sink/ vanity transition at the factory and after only 3 trips it's delaminating and the press board is swelling. There is no way to mitigate this unless you caulk that transition at the factory. Truthfully, they should only do solid surface with bottom mount sinks and thermofoil with drop in sinks... Signed, an architect 😂
It is 0-110 degree rated which surpasses most RVs yes Understand no RV is "truly four seasons." One winter in south dakota will quickly prove that point
I leave a link in the video description to check pricing on anything in stock. Pricing could literally very on these by over $10,000 between option cost of shipping car so I really cannot leave an approximate price that remains valid for any given. Period of time. Especially with manufacture pricing changes Unlike an Amazon listing were represents one specific thing these are almost like car commercials I could represent a variety of vehicles
I still don't want to have to drop the spare tire carrier every time I want to access the storage area. As a result the area is not very usable for regular use items. Being a family oriented floorplan I would go with a sofa over the theatre seating. It looks like a nice sturdy table compared to the scissor style legs. I would prefer a squared off counter and storage over the fireplace. In a trailer this length I want two doors for emergency egress. It is much easier and safer to exit via the door than an escape window. Then there is travel access which requires a 2nd door. I don't like the king bed. Yes you can put in a queen but you never regain the lost wardrobe space. I notice that Cougar doesn't tend to put drawers in the bed side stands. These are a must for us. The addition of drawers would also eliminate one more area with carpet.
I loved this right up until the bathroom. I cannot stand the split bathroom. But I love everything else about this RV. I think it's fantastic I wish the privacy curtains were actually not see-through but that's something somebody could fix. Did you just say a dollar store fart fan?? Lol. I love this. The auto leveling in all the cougars is really attractive to me. Honestly the only problem I have is the name. Single woman my age with a camper called cougar... I'm not one but the name has always bothered me lol
Do I want this big of an RV? No. Do I want a bunkhouse? No. Do I need my daily dose of Josh the RV Nerd? Oh, yeah!😂
😊 #humbled

I would like to see a comparison between the Cougar 30BHS and the Catalina Summit Series 271DBS
Hmm.. kinda apples and oranges. Very different rvs
I appreciate the request but I’m not sure those two really stack up for comparison
@@JoshtheRVNerd different class/quality, but very similar layout. I'm interested if the added cost of the cougar is worth it.
❤...Donna
Keep the hair from the last review. 😂😂😂
:)
Does cougar make a 5th wheel version of this like grand design
yeah and it's got a great surprise: ruclips.net/video/C_navEk6EJ8/видео.html
Are there cheaper models with that type of bunks that are good for a half ton?
Any rv this size will challenge most half tons btw. But maybe try transcend 265bh
This is a really cool family camper. We currently have a 2022 whitehawk 29bh but thinking about switching to this. What are the differences in a 2023 and a 2024 model cougar 30bhs? I notice the price is lower for the 2024.
Big price drop came when they stopped forcing $1,800 of batteries on them. They’re more similar than different.
Tweaked decor. Improved solar.
I'm surprised it's under 35 feet. I like the L-shaped dinette, floating table and the ottoman. Needs a closet slide. For the bunkless version of this I would have liked to see them keep this plan, putting a closet where the stairs are instead of going with a u-dinette.
#NerdHerd 😊 🎉 ❤
Sweet floor plan no doubt and if anyone is smart and not wanting to gamble with the lives of their family or others family nothing less than a dually 3500/350 style truck with this size unit. If not your going to be getting pushed around by the trailer and that’s not a good thing with all the weekend warriors who are also speed freaks pulling campers down the highway
Josh, do you know if those cargo doors are big enough to put in a Predator 3500 generator?
I don’t know their dimensions apologies
Why is the fan upgrade in the bathroom go for a couple of hundred bucks?
Where is the cougar 29BHL? Not on description.
It's right the below the specs.
Like the layout but on more of a budget? Try..
► Transcend 265BH: ruclips.net/video/ERcqUP3g35w/видео.html
Don't want the bunks?
► Cougar 25RDS: ruclips.net/video/_sczz7muqLI/видео.html
Want a fifth wheel OR true private office?

Professional looker atter and talker abouter of RVs - now I believe new business cards are in order…or maybe just a different email signature.
😆
Does anyone make something in-between this and the Transcend Xplor 265BH, pricewise? (Over the Top, best movie of all time)
If you don't need "new," try checking out the 2021 Grand Design Imagine 3110BH. It's the one I had decided on before I got my pusher.
Cherokee makes a version of that 265BH but I don't yet have footage of it
Genuine question.
By the time you load a family in the truck and cargo in the RV you often challenge many half-tons
It's not impossible for some half-tons to handle this. I just don't want to offer the idea that "if you have ANY half-ton, then you're okay"
@@JoshtheRVNerd hey thanks for the thorough response. Totally makes sense and I appreciate it!
you bet
Two sewer pipes that close together doesn't bother me in the least 😊👍
TY. Great input
@JoshtheRVNerd
Thank you Josh 😊 👍
How would you compare the build quality of a Cougar compared to a Rockwood?
We were originally going to go with a Cougar bunk but it was just too heavy. We've found a Rockwood with a similar Floorplan.
The problem is there aren't any Rockwoods nearby for us to go look. I don't want to drive 5-6 hours to find out it looks or feels cheap.
Both are gold level DSI award winners several years running but I would personally give the fit and finish nod to Rockwood though I don't feel cougar does badly by any means
thank you for the feedback sir

Yes, "Over the Top" was indeed Stallone.
💪🏻
Great floorplan, but not enough kitchen storage. I find the fireplace in any rv to be pointless. A little space heater is fine for my family to gain storage.
That’s fair. Ty
Square off the kitchen counter, and storage instead of fireplace
👍🏻 ty
I’d prefer storage over the fire place.
Ty
Is the bathroom vanity counter solid surface or that thermofoil stuff? I have a 368mbi with the same bottom mount sink and the thermofoil counter. It was not caulked along the sink/ vanity transition at the factory and after only 3 trips it's delaminating and the press board is swelling. There is no way to mitigate this unless you caulk that transition at the factory. Truthfully, they should only do solid surface with bottom mount sinks and thermofoil with drop in sinks... Signed, an architect 😂
No solid surface in these
Is this a four season trailer?
It is 0-110 degree rated which surpasses most RVs yes
Understand no RV is "truly four seasons."
One winter in south dakota will quickly prove that point
Can you state approximate prices
I leave a link in the video description to check pricing on anything in stock. Pricing could literally very on these by over $10,000 between option cost of shipping car so I really cannot leave an approximate price that remains valid for any given. Period of time. Especially with manufacture pricing changes
Unlike an Amazon listing were represents one specific thing these are almost like car commercials I could represent a variety of vehicles
Sewer isn’t a dealbreaker but I’d like to see cougar update this on the cycle refresh.
👍🏻
I prefer a single "crap tap" .. 2 headed sewer monster is only acceptable on giant 5th wheels
Love the phrase lol
@@JoshtheRVNerd you're welcome to use it!
🎉#NerdHerd
Great points here. TY once again
Besides Cougar and Transcend 265BH, does anyone else make same floor plan?
A few brands do yes. Here's another I've recently covered ruclips.net/video/UNqTG8JXzMk/видео.html
Storage always wins out...
fair enough
I loved this right up until the bathroom. I cannot stand the split bathroom. But I love everything else about this RV. I think it's fantastic I wish the privacy curtains were actually not see-through but that's something somebody could fix.
Did you just say a dollar store fart fan?? Lol.
I love this. The auto leveling in all the cougars is really attractive to me. Honestly the only problem I have is the name. Single woman my age with a camper called cougar... I'm not one but the name has always bothered me lol
Yes on the fan 😆
