I've got an elitebook, battery went down to almost zero today, I tried charging it but it wouldn't. The led would keep on blinking, and a message would appear before the bios saying that it needs a charge with more wattage. Tried to reset as indicated, did not work with charger plugged in ; worked the 2nd time with charger unplugged. Now it seems to be charging. Thank you a lot!
Thank you for this comment - I was losing my mind until I realised I was trying it with the cable plugged in - unplugged and tried again, worked a treat!
@@tonyrasam Just software bugs etc. Reset gives them a good kick, just like removing a battery did on older ones. Capacitors drop their charge too when they don't get electricity, so that helps some.
Thank you! Thought my laptop was now a brick. With my Thinkpad I held down the power button and let it cycle through a few restarts and now it’s charging. You’ve saved me $$$$.
Thanks heaps, fixed my issue where the laptop (ZBook Firefly 14 G8) was only charging via the barrel connector and not via USB-C. Windows would detect any USB-C devices (dock, monitor etc.) but wouldn't show charging unless I plugged a power supply directly into the laptop via the barrel connector. The following fixed it: 1) Disconnect all power supplies. 2) Shut down windows completely. 3) Press and hold power button for 15 seconds (caps lock light blinks once or twice). 4) Plug in USB-C power source. After this, the yellow charging light on the side of the laptop came on and when booting windows, it now shows as connected to power and charging. Thanks again!
Thank you so so much. I had purchased a cheaply made GaN PD charger with multiple usb c & a ports, that "flickered" or Flashed (turned off and on the entire power supply) each time any device was added or removed to any of the usb ports of the charger. While adding a device, my HP laptop flashed/ rebooted and stopped charging via usb c port. With your solution (hold power button for 20s) the usb c port is allowing devices to charge again. thank you, you saved me un-necessary repair bill!
This works.I had a similar problem with my Elitebook Bang & Olufsen, after listening to you on youtube,I applied the lesson learnt from here and it started charging. Thank you so much.
Saved my life. I am on a work assignment abroad, non-English speaking country. Suddenly my laptop not charging. I’m glad I found this video. Thank you!
God bless you :) G8, G10 and even G11 are affected, all on Windows 10. In the last 2 weeks we had maybe five or six issues like that. Your solution seems to work.
@@GMODISM It really helped. We've started with updating the firmware and installing supplimentary drivers. For a period it helped. Then you came and helped an entire IT support department, overwhelmed by this issue :) The solution have no logic but it just worked :))
Videos like this is why I love youtube! Had this exact laptop, fixed the issue after hours of me trying different cables and updating drivers and messing with bios settings! thank you!! :)
Thank you so much! 2 years after yr posting, your solution is still a lifesaver! My wife's laptop ran down completely and refused to charge through the usb-c port. You really saved her from a lot of anxiety!
It's crazy that this actually works. After severally uninstalling and re installing drivers, running diagnostics and even playing around with the BIOS settings, this was what worked. I actually thought this was crazy and almost skipped it, but it did work.
Thank you so much! My computer randomly had this problem so I reset the battery and now it’s working!(btw I had it plugged in while it was turning off and then unplugged it after it holding the button for 20sec. Idk if that’s necessary)
Brother, you're a lifesave!! I had to deliver a project by tomorrow morning and was literally in the final phase and i thought i was done for. This worked like magic. THANK YOU!!

That worked! Amazing. The only thing is concerning me is that in 2021 on a brand new HP laptop I have to do a little woodoo dance to make it charge the laptop from USB C. Come ON @HP
Thank you!!. Suddenly, a few months ago, my thunderbolt port stopped charging and since I've been using both thunderbolt cable and charger simultaneously. Now I am back to a single cable for everything. ;) Thanks!
Although it may be a very small issue for many of you techies out there in the world, however, I was not able to fix my HP laptops battery not charging issue. After looking at multiple videos on RUclips, I stumbled upon this one and lo and behold. It started working again. This video is absolutely in good order, understandable, easy to comprehend and very helpful. Kudos to the video maker and I wish you all the best in life.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!, I've been using my J5create for about 4 years.....I don't know how to use the type c port to charge my laptop using the power adapter until I saw your vid. You're a lifesaver!
Thank you, I was hoping a fix was out there, glad I googled it and your video popped up. Great video and a very easy fixed. I did not realize I can reboot the battery, now I know, thanks to you.
Just tried this on my HP EliteBook 840 G5. As someone already mentioned, it did not work for me with charger plugged in. But after many trials, I attempted the reset again with the usb-c cable disconnected and voila, it worked and I am now charging again. Advanced HP voodoo indeed.
Thanks a lot! My laptop is "Acer Swift 3". The display of my second screen is connected via "c type to HDMI adapter", and today it didn't work for some reason... Thanks to your tip, my 2nd screen is now back! Thanks a lot, bro, u did a really big favour for me! :)
Thanks. This worked, after days of frustration with an HP laptop which got mostly bricked by an AMD firmware update. After spending all everning yesterday just getting Windows to install (you have to turn off the built in WIFI and Bluetooth for WIndows to install, for some reason), I finally discovered this morning that the laptop was now not charging. It was seconds away from going back to HP before I saw this.
Thank you, author. I connected both USB-C ports with one cable to see what will happen) My laptop started charging itself as expexted) But after I connected original charger - Windows 10 started to show me an alert about "slow charger". I thought I broke USB-C port(s). This alert did not dissapear after reboot. It did not dissapear after battery reset without connected charger. Only after battery reset when charger was connected. Thank you again. All the best. (HP EliteBook 850 G8)
Dear brother, I had an issue "plug-in not charging"! on my HP EliteBook. then I went to the servicing center they said it might be my battery fault or must be charging IC was dead. however, my laptop is pretty new so I search on RUclips and found this video then I reset it as you saw, and voila it starts charging. Thank you so much, bro. 😍😍😍
I have a problem that needs help. I bought an HP laptop, the product code is HP Probook 455 G7, according to the announcement, this laptop can be charged via USB Type C 3.1 Gen 1. I have tried many 65W chargers from many different brands. such as Baseus, Anker, Ravpower, Thinkplus, Xiaomi, however, there are cases of battery error. After plugging it in for a while, the power is still in the battery, after I unplug the charger the laptop always says it is charging even when I reset it. Then I continued charging via USB type C or AC of the company, the power did not enter the battery even though it was still charging. I have to discharge the battery to 0% or remove the battery and reinsert it then charge it via AC normally. There are many people with the above error but do not know how to fix it. My pin has code is RF03XL with 3cell 45wh. AC parameter 19.5V 3.33A
