Nice video Josh. Been doing cad for a while for 3d printing and cnc and find working with mesh files a huge pain, which is why I also share step and sat files when I post things and wish more people would as well.
That’s what I’m saying. I just got into printing and there’s a niche JB could fill. I’ll be been watching so many videos and they’re more frustrating than helpful.
FPV is not a super big community. He could probably branch out and do tutorials on a lot of things, but he is all about FPV. And good for so many new people to the hobby because FPV is pretty complicated for a lot of new guys. He is a good teacher.
I find taking aspects that I want from other models and redesigning the model to how I want it or just designing any object from scratch is very addictive, Blender is what I like to use for this, and the printing is just the last step.
Well, I do everything, even combining of different STL object in Fusion360. Moreover, designing, measuring and merging is very convenient and quite simple in Fusion360.
This is actually pretty handy, I have just used this in bambu slicer to join some 3D labprint planes together. fusion 360 is not fun when it comes to mesh models.
But for complete Noobs like myself I only received my 3D printer for Christmas 2 weeks ago I always thought I wish I could do this but didn’t know how until you my legend showed me this is why RUclips is so valuable to the world of makers and builders in our time I thank you for all of your help and can’t wait to see more thanks 😊
Agree, cad is time consuming! But it’s so satisfying if you can design things in onshape. But yes, took me a few weeks in total to get it to feel intuitive ;) Orca is great. Been diving into 3d printers myself lately. Have 5 currently in my small hangar ;) Greets, Mario
A new bambu printer sure does get the creative juices flowing,.... I have the X1C. Didn't order it with the AMS,.. now that's on the way. It is so cool the way it just spits stuff out so perfectly. Even "slow" nylon carbon fiber prints are fast and easy.
@@likwidkool I didn't get it originally because I tend towards functional prints and a lot of carbon fiber. But the other day I saw that their PaHT-CF filament will work with the AMS. So I mostly want it as more of a filament management system, and maybe I'll also do some occasional multicolor for the kids.
@@rcrdps8144I want to get into that too. Printing random shit is fun but I want to use it also to solve things. Printing my quad parts is the best part. The ams is handy to store 4 rolls as well.
Dude...... serious game changer!!! Thanks a bunch for sharing this knowledge!!!! I am brand new to 3d printing and this is very powerful!! Thanks again!!!
Awesome. This is a very informative and helpful video. Recently got my first 3D printer, the A1 mini. This would been a big help. I did find a video tutorial by mute fpv using Tinkercad. It worked, but your way seems easier. Made a fin for my Apex using two different files. 👍😎
LOL, Josh, you have the A1 on the brain! You must secretly want one. You mentioned that you had an Bambu Labs A1C a few times in your video. Honestly, I have an X1C and I'm thinking about getting the A1 myself. 🤣
Fusion 360 has a free hobbyist license. Just can't sell things you're making. Would be perfect for tinkering and sharing knowledge on your youtube channel.
Im looking forward to ai being able to be used for creation in much the same way it can be used for art. I can do CAD just fine, but well... Others cant. I WANT others to be able to make whats in their head real because thats what 3d Printing is FOR. AI is a tool to get the image out of your head via text, for people who cant draw, or who cant CAD or who cant 3d model. Basically when we combine AI and 3d printing we get the democratization of object creation. Just for now... I want you all to know CAD is pretty intuitive these days and you can definitely learn it if you spend an hour or even a half hour a day over the course of a month or so. Just do a RUclips tutorial each day, you can use fusion360, it's free.
That was awesome. I have Orca slicer but didn't know it could do that. Just what I need after looking at many other mind numbing programs. Thank you :)
I forget, doesn't MS 3D Builder have this capability as well. Seems does, though has been a few years and invasive things in my mind controlling that don't help. Neat to see the capabilities integrated into the slicer apps now a days.
It's not that hard to learn how to CAD. Fusion 360 will give you a free version that's powerful enough to make with any hobbyist will make. I learned cading in about a week. And have gotten way better over the last 9 years. Don't be afraid to jump into it. However this way here that you showing you is really a hack for people that don't want to learn.
I don’t even fly drones and I haven’t missed a video in 6 yrs. I have no idea what PID tuning is. But he’s so nice. Ha. Jokes. I fly. But how can anyone dislike Bardwell? He’s solid
12:50 there is a free version of Fusion 360 for personal use as long as you don't earn over $1000/yr using it. ie. a hobbyist license. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it can do pretty much everything that you need for 3D printing and it's pretty easy to learn enough of the basics to sketch up parts like this.
Quick note you know you can use fusion 360 for free as a hobbiest right. It's a bit if a pain to set up because they try to hide it to force you to buy it, but iv been using it for years. I don't sell 3D parts I just enjoy making functional parts for around the home.
Learning Fusion 360 isn't that hard, you would get the hang of it pretty quickly. It is really easy to modify existing cad models in it, if you want to get rid of a hole you just click on it and delete the feature.
This is amazing! I always wanted to do this but thought it was to cumbersome and I had to learn what everything did to understand.Thank you so much JB!
This is good to know, but it's still worth learning the other programs. I've been using Blender so long it's just easier for me to do it there. Good video.
This will help me so much as i want to sculpt the shapes for my car dashboard in VR, but i need to fit them perfectly in correct scale to other parts.. i did not think i could do it in slicer! One problem less to solve!
Can i mesure things point to point? Because nice to if can when you want scale up and want to see holes parts if the right size ,i want to see slicers to do more cad thing in the software, cura can't cut models if you don't use plug-in like banana split

Ok but I spent zero hours going through tutorials, didn't download or install any new programs, and just banged this out in like 10 minutes. So like, it's got that going for it.
Joshua, if you ever wanted to get back into trying your own 3D models, fusion 360 is free. It just has a few restrictions in how many projects you can create at a time but it's fully capable.
LOL, Dammit Bardwell you did it again! I have had my P1S since Nov and I have used it quite a bit since. It shows the cylinders with the infill showing. What am I doing wrong?

I only do the occasional 3d print and didn't know about combining models in the slicer. Very helpful, thank you.
Tinkercad does everything u said but much easier and more precise
I did learn something today I went straight to fusion 360 didn’t know you could do this in the slicer. Thank you.
Thanks for making this. I needed it for a crawler. Would I be able to just download the file and use it on a different slicer. I have an ender 3..?
I use Blender with boolean modifiers for remixing STLs.
Bambu A1 C printer? Not the mini, not the A1, but the A1C? Wich one is THAT?

Good enough for the girls we go out with.
Great video, love my bronco and will be doing this
