Genetics and different approaches to lifestyle in earlier years. Dr Youn is a plastic surgeon. He started earlier with scientifically effective skincare, healthy eating and Botox. Just comes with being in the field of medicine and aesthetic medicine. Brian has told in one of his video his life story and why he became interested in reversing the aging effects. He created his own start up and made millions. But essentially he had no life. He sacrificed everything for his professional and financial goals and at that time he didn’t understand that it’s not right to live like that. So eventually he became rich and successful but at what cost to his physical and mental health, his personal life and happiness? So he thinks he lost on life. I do things that are considered healthy but it is my life style which I enjoy. I don't think I would want to live a life the way he describes. His goal in life is looking younger which seems to be taking over his life in my opinion. I want to focus on other pleasurable things such as being around friends and being active.
He just does a scientific experiment where he is the guinea pig. I doubt he will live that all the time, once he gathered enough information. His goal is to understand what works and what doesn’t (he’s testing a lot of new, experimental methods, methods which have been only studied in small studies etc. he doesn’t want to wait for full-scale clinical trials for each of this methods bc full-scale clinical trials may never occur for some of these approaches. Clinical trials are expensive, so they don’t always happen). Once his experiments on himself are over, he will have information for others so that people a) will know what works and what doesn’t; b) can choose which measures to take for themselves (it’s not necessary to follow everything he does); c) have instructions on how to implement said measures correctly. He also has a financial interest as he plans to monetise his “blueprint” for anti-aging in the future. He already sells some things. I think his own scientific interest comes before any financial interests (considering his life story and how he lost so many of his years over-working and basically having no life) but it’s definitely a new start-up venture for him as well. I doubt he will live like that all the time. Once he figures out what works and what not and achieves certain goals, there wouldn’t be a need to do so much on a regular basis. he will probably stick with some measures and ditch the rest. His mindset is similar to a lot of ceos and start up guys I’ve seen irl. They get high off goals and achievements and challenges. It’s hard to explain but life is less about the process for them. Personally, I wouldn’t be able to live like Brian does even as an experiment. It’s important for me to enjoy my life and actually live. But I appreciate him sacrificing himself and investing so much of his own money and taking such risks with his health just to test out different new procedures and approaches.
@@Casualphilosopher-db9gy I hear you. I get what you're saying. I do agree with @caroljeanscott5571 also. I guess I wonder where that "line" will be. Like, at what point will you decide that you have achieved the goal of "looking 18 again"? Because, aside from me questioning the actual goal of looking 18 again, (I mean he looked good at 46 🤷🏾♀️), I feel like the TRUE results of what he has done so far may take some time to really be apparent, meanwhile during that SAME time he is still aging and getting further away from his 18 year old self. Wasn't he the one that also did blood transfusions with his kids too to rejuvenate himself? It certainly seems like an obsessive course that can have no apparent end.... But one cannot knock his dedication to said cause. Because if the "secret" to everlasting youth is out there, I would probably put my money on HIM finding it! Lol.
I've been eating a low calory diet for 6 months now (1743 calories per day as a 42 yo woman). I've lost 35 pounds, am no longer obese (still overweight but still loosing weight) and I never feel like I am starving myself. I even still eat junk food when I feel like it, but in reasonable quantities and not every week. It's quite doable.
He'll probably live a lot longer. Or at least, it'll seem like it. I may be on my deathbed wishing I hadn't passed up so many Snickers. But I won't regret the ones I had.
Why are people so angry when people care about their appearance? I have no idea why it inspires vitriol. He's clearly intelligent, doesn't seem to be particularly rude or egotistical. He just cares about his body and that also includes his appearance.
It's not hate. I think people are more confused. He's promoting this idea of health and youth while not quite being able to embody it. He looks 40+ and has an unnatural complexion, like too much concealer or Data from Star Trek.
@@houdinis_tea you don't think so? I think his stats and physique say otherwise, I don't know too many men in their late 40s who look like him. I think it's important to remember that he started off not so long ago and much worse for wears, this isn't something he has kept up with his entire life or something like that, so a short term transformation took incredible dedication even despite the money. I would agree he has quite a pale complexion but I bet that's just a side effect of some of the other cosmetic work that perhaps he will rectify! We will see. :) 🙏💞 anyway I think he looks pretty great. Definitely captured a youth that he lost somewhere along the way but that's my hot take. Also, aesthetics are important to me personally, and I think it's stigmatized as vanity often and I don't think it boils down to that. I just think it's okay to care about your appearance, take care of it, cultivate it, and it doesn't make you a shill yanno 😅💞
@sara-lv3xs I think it's very important to take care of health. I see nothing wrong with people who do. This guy looks like someone you'd see as a patient waiting for lab results.
For real! But I would assume it’s better for him since he’s so rich and has more than enough money to waste on “turning back the hands of time.” He has so much money he wants to be “younger,” so he has longer to spend it all.
Trying to jump back into your old skin just isn't possible. Be healthy and youthful *FOR YOUR AGE.* We all have our time, make sure you enjoy it. I feel like the people who desperately want to be young again are people who missed out on their lives. Brian admits that he spent a lot of time working on his life so much so that he forgot to enjoy it. Michael Jackson is another good example of someone who kept undergoing plastic surgery, and he missed out on his childhood because of his father. If you're in your 20's and 30's right now, enjoy the living sh*t out of it, that way you can continue to enjoy the living sh*t out of your 40's, 50's and so on without constantly looking back.

@laurencolburn5495 Sun makes a big difference along with genetics and diet. Stress and sleep I would think are also important. He looks like he is one foot in the grave missing all of his body fat. If he becomes ill, his body has no fat to break down. His body will break down muscle. Just one flu and he will like like an aging vampire bat who is being starved to death.
@laurencolburn5495 you have good bucal fat which makes us look youthful. I do too, thank God. As of right now, I don't have wrinkles. I use retinol. I have used retinol for about 20 years. My skin had so much colagen, when I cut my face, they could barely get the needle through my skin. It was as tough as steel. I fave begin applying it to my neck. That's kinda is fragile. Get some retinol.he would have been better switching to a mostly vegetarian diet and using retinol. (Maybe he can give some pointers to Elon Musk who looks like an aging woman going through menopause.)
I actually look quite a bit younger than I am... From what I can tell it just comes down to lucky Genes, I have a naturally round face so that helps me. I never smoked, so that helped. Eat relatively healthy, I cook my own food. And only drink moderately. Oh and sunscreen of course. At least in Summer... I live in Denmark so right now it's just dark most of the day. There is no sun. I need to eat that D-vitamin. Only very recently did I begin using a retinol nighttime routine, but that is more to prevent things than wind back time.
I'm woman age 33 and people tell me I look 10 years younger. I'm also short 4'9" and look like a kid too lol. People ask me what I do. I tell them it's probably genetics cuz I don't do anything lol I also don't smoke! 😁

So I just grinned, I am already highly aware I look young and I am not complaining lol. but yeah I don't think you should underestimate just NOT smoking. Smoking absolutely ages you prematurely, and so does smoking weed regularly. So just by NOT doing that, by NOT consistently binge drink... You're doing your future self a massive favor.

I find it sad that he is so desperate to fight aging. Of course it is his life, his money etc, but aging is a privilege in my opinion. Mind you, I've fought hard to get to my age of almost 36. I've almost died more times than I have fingers to count with. I need to have physical therapy for life and I need a ton of medications to keep a relative comfort in life. To me, it is worth the pain of living if I can grow old. I would have loved to have a healthy body without pain, but I can live with that pain. I cant have kids which is a big sorrow, but Im alive. Life is precious. I get to wake up every day and Im so thankful that I can create new memories and enjoy things. I look forwards to so many things. If I had had just a fraction of the money this guy had, I would explore the world, pay it forward to everyone who has helped me along the way, make sure they have the best lives they could have and create new experiences and memories as much as possible. Alas, disability doesnt generate that kind of cash so I save as much as possible and allow myself a trip every few years and spend what time I can paying it forward in other ways.
The good thing is he's making his own body as an experiment and making the result available publicly for free. This is good for the advancement of science.
Everybody has their own thing they are passionate about, and staying young seems to be Johnson's thing, though it does look more like an obsession. What I like about him is that he is sharing the data from his self-experiments with the public, since it might in the future lead to meaningful advances in public health.
Brian doesn't actually really care much about looking younger....he just care about how science n biology of the body work....he is mindful of the experiment he did to himself n his dedication is admiring.... He was a curious human being n I'm all for it...i want to see through to his experiment...😌
I have to carry epi pens with me for allergies which I didn’t used to have so that’s decided for me that I can’t inject my face with anything just in case 🤷🏻♀️
Ive practiced the intermittent fasting my whole life due to culture reasons, anti aging is definitely something ive noticed the older i get, today im going on 41 and ppl on average still mistake me for a 20 year old man
In intermittent fasting, contrary to Doctor Youn's statement, when your body has adjusted to not eating (takes several weeks), you will not be always hungry. On the contrary, you won't even look for food and in my case, I sometimes feel that eating is a chore I'd rather avoid.
@ ashassassin The first thing Brian Johnson talked about in the video is that he got Sculptra injections on his face to get volume and to increase collagen production. You obviously didn’t pay attention. He also did a separate video showing the sculptors proceduce and the before and after photos. I think he’s pretty upfront about what he has done to stay feeling and looking young. Most of us don’t have the means nor the determination to do what he’s doing but it’s interesting to know what could be done and where the boundary is.
I can’t imagine spending millions of dollars to marginally extend my life. This is either a vanity project or a manifestation of body dysmorphic disorder. Think what genuine good that man could accomplish if he got over his self obsession and devoted some of that time and money to helping those in need.
I am not sure about calories restrictions. I heard that if you starve yourself, the moment you stop eating normally again, you will balloon and gain weight because your body thinks you are starving. Starving can not be good for anyone. Eating healthy: ok, but restricting calories does not sound so great.
The only good thing Bryan Johnson is doing is intermittent fasting IF. There are different kinds of IF the most popular one is 16:8 where you are not eating 16 hours and eating everything within the rest 8 hours. So in the end IF you do end up calorie restricting without even realizing. Also if one is eating between 12pm to 8pm or 11 am to 7 pm, they are eating as per the natural circadian rhythm so the body does lose weight. Also when you have dinner early you do have a good sleep, you sleep deeper and I find you even wake up more rested even with lesser sleep. IF works as body clock reset. So IF works when one is eating properly in the eating hours. Like a good salad low amount of simple carbs, good amount of legumes/lentils, other proteins like chicken or fish, vegetables fruits seeds and nuts. Basically eating unprocessed whole foods as much as possible.
I just want the energy I had in my 20s and 30s. My physical active life (I was very fit) caused injuries that wasn't a big deal back then. Now, in my 50s, I'm paying the price.

I thought it looked a bit suspicious and since some have used other medical professionals via AI for their ads i thought id spread the info just to be sure. maybe somebody else knows more/can contact him?
My Italian Mamma always used to say “as you get older be plumper. Your face will look better. No wrinkles.” I for one would rather live a shorter happier life than a long and miserable one.
He may have got compared to her because he dyed his hair red also. He had blonde hair as a youth, dark brown hair up until he started his program, then dyed it red after his transformation. If he's trying to get healthy,he shouldn't use toxic dyes that absorb through the scalp.
Although I think he understands that he is doing an experiment on himself, that is why he uses extreme options. But cosmetic facial modification does not really fit this concept, because little fat in the face does not mean that you are less healthy than at 18. It is the same as trying to stay the same height as at 10 years old.
@@JasonEyermannThe truth is that probably little to none of what's discovered will be affordable to the average person. Anything learned will be turned into high dollar treatments. Just look at the multi-billion $ cancer "industry." They still are going on the assumption that cancer is genetic although Otto Warburg showed in the 1920's that it was metabolic in origin. Thomas Seyfried has continued Warburg's research and expanded upon it, thus confirming that almost all cancers are metabolic rather than genetic. But do you ever hear any about that. No, of course not. The health/medical industry is a huge money making operation and they're not going to give up control. The monster has grown large and hungry and requires constant feeding.
I wouldn't think of doing this to myself but it's interesting to see other people trying to retain their youth. I myself restrict my caloric intake by not eating after 10 am.

Lol.
He's a lab rat
Right!! He should be studied. He’s living for his outward appearance and I would rather LIVE AND ENJOY MY LIFE!!!!!!
It's quite doable.
it's almost like he did all of that just to learn that its not healthy to do one extreme or the other. It is about balance and we already knew that
I love his dedication. I will stress that he can't reverse telomer damage or mutation errors we accumulate as we age.
Not me here eating two chocolate chip caramel cookies, some cheddar & sour cream chips and cleansing my palette with a dr. Pepper. 😂
💀 💀 Good for you! YOLO 😂
And he looks creepy.
@@tracamazon I'd have to disagree.
Something about him looks unhealthy, maybe because I prefer 60 yr olds that look like Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein from The Misfits. This guy looks like someone you'd see as a patient waiting for lab results.
What can't people just grow old like a real person? This is creepy, gross and stupid.
Some sunlight please, he looks as "figura de cera" i don't know how its said in English
Es "wax figure".
@nydiaalicea6286 Muchas gracias!!
Figura de cera...? Osea pálido? Yo lo veo normal, pero bueno siempre habrá algo que decir sobre la apariencia inevitablemente
You're right!! If he stood real still, he'd look like a wax figure😂😂
Data from Star Trek
I don't see that he looks better. He just looks different to me.
My thoughts too....
I think he looks better. The guy looks great!
@BenMaslow-n5xwhich is why it’s defeating its purpose. He is
40 something.
Why does anyone want to live longer in this sick twisted world?
For real! But I would assume it’s better for him since he’s so rich and has more than enough money to waste on “turning back the hands of time.” He has so much money he wants to be “younger,” so he has longer to spend it all.
No fn clue
Rich people
I wonder if he takes such care of his soul to live forever as well?
Ha ha...great point.
Haaaa no. No work on character all on surface.
This 💯
Yes thank you!
Well, if you believe in life after death! Nice idea, but I strongly suspect it's just wishful thinking.
Very interesting. Thank you for covering this.
I’d love to know Brians thoughts on the movie The Substance
My mom said that I turned slightly orange when I was a baby because I ate a lot of carrot baby food. I thought she was bullsh*tting me till now!! 😂
I cannot imagine being this terrified of growing old! What must the inside of his head be like?! It's really sad
He is building 2 communities. One on his channel and one irl. So its looking good
@@Maderlololohiolol what does"building communities" have anything to do with this?
I agree with the OP. He's basically obsessing over the thought of aging and can't really truly enjoy life because he HAS to do all the preventative measures daily. No thanks.😊
@@Maderlololohio I guess you missed the point. He's growing older no matter how are he tries not to. It seems to be his worst nightmare.
So incredibly sad to me. I want to be healthy, but I also want to enjoy my life and the people I love, not focus on how my body looks constantly!
@@Maderlololohio what does building communities have to do with it? I can't imagine how exhausting it would be to obsess over something like aging.
My favourite Japanese artist is 41 years old, but he looks like he's in his early twenties. There are quite a lot of people wondering if he even ages. lol He's big on eating healthy and loves to exercise, though, but I also think he simply had a lot of luck with his genes.
What’s his name?
@ianjarrett7449 they're probably talking about Hirohiko Araki, the creator of jojo
Asian gene😊
He has a lot of luck with his genes? He's Asian, of course he has. They don't age😉
Wow our current society is so obsessed with not aging. I am in my 40s and can be hard on myself even though I don’t want to be!! You know what- HUMANS ARE NOT PLASTIC!! It is ok to have creases and crinkles in our skin!! It’s an amazing thing to age. I wonder if we will be studied in the future for our obsession with not wanting to age
I'm 31 and look like a 16 year old. Yet, he looks way older than me since doing these tests 😅
I'm 33 and I'm told I look like a teenager as well. I guess it's good genes
He is too skinny. And like we say in Mississippi. He is shaped up funny.
I’m in my mid 30s and I feel like I look quite a bit younger than I am, and have totally not taken any care to do so lol
He looked younger before he started trying to look younger. 😅
His skin quality is way better now. He's just too skinny
Seriously.
How does he do it? He looks both super healthy, and terminally ill at the same time! It's truly bizarre
Does this treatment give him back his natural hair colour and does not allow him to go grey?
I tell them it's probably genetics cuz I don't do anything lol
I also don't smoke! 😁
@@what.the.whatever Funny story, I am currently taking a new education as a masseuse.
Legit last week we were told when we were going to have a test exam, this December, and I said. "Oh that's the day after my birthday!"
Another student asked. "Oh how old is such a young lady becoming?"
".... 35."
She looked SHOCKED, just going. "I thought you were at most 26!"
Most people who say they look younger actually look their age.
@Toni_Snark it's just what we are told, everyone has their own opinion 🤷♀️
@@Toni_Snark someone's jealous, nobody told you that?
I did biostimulators and had an intense reaction and swelled like him, but it went down in like a week and the results were fantastic. That was two years ago and I’m getting ready to do it again.
So he sits all day in a gym swallowing pills and getting injections. Why doesn't he work at a building site at the same time, or as a nurse, to show us, that we could become younger while living a not-a- millionaire life?
Because he has money he didn't steal from anyone, and he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. It's his experiment and, as long as he doesn't hurt others, he can do what he wants.
Because it's not possible to do all that with a normal life
@@Miss_Wonderful1 we all know it's impossible to turn back time. What we know is one with lots of money can look decades younger, but "looking" is not "being". And he doesn't look younger, he looks sicker

My dad loves papaya so much that he included in his diet 24/7 ;several times a day.😮So his skin color changed from Italian dark olive to orange! The brassy points: tip of the nose ears and hand feet palms & feet soles😂.
How can I say dad layoff the papaya when he makes those big brown puppy eyes! @t the end he left the papaya 4 a while, but got started on ripe mangoes 😅
How does one get rid of joint stiffness?
Alas, disability doesnt generate that kind of cash so I save as much as possible and allow myself a trip every few years and spend what time I can paying it forward in other ways.
no body cares
The good thing is he's making his own body as an experiment and making the result available publicly for free. This is good for the advancement of science.
I’m more appreciate people like you than people like this guy
Your comment is very touching and I needed this today 🥺. I’ve been feeling down, tired and defeated due to my pain and health problems
Handsome, healthy, attractive man. for me he looks really good .
Everybody has their own thing they are passionate about, and staying young seems to be Johnson's thing, though it does look more like an obsession. What I like about him is that he is sharing the data from his self-experiments with the public, since it might in the future lead to meaningful advances in public health.
You doctor looks younger than him 😂❤
His journey is super interesting
If I had money I’d do shir like this too it’s nice he’s documenting it and showing us. Mad scientist things u know
Brian doesn't actually really care much about looking younger....he just care about how science n biology of the body work....he is mindful of the experiment he did to himself n his dedication is admiring....
He was a curious human being n I'm all for it...i want to see through to his experiment...😌
He kind of looks like Max Headroom.
Hey doc I am 25 years old and have lines on my forehead but now they are turning into indented scars what is this? What can I do
I have to carry epi pens with me for allergies which I didn’t used to have so that’s decided for me that I can’t inject my face with anything just in case 🤷🏻♀️

I think he was a good-looking man when he was heavier. However, I hope that he is now happier within himself as that's what really matters.
What cracks me up is the guy clearly has had procedures but pretends its some kind of blood therapy. It's bizarre and a bit unsafe
He has tons of videos of the procedures he does. Shut up and think before commenting
He's already got the voice of a 14-year-old. 😂 I wonder if he is going to change his voice.
I can’t imagine spending millions of dollars to marginally extend my life. This is either a vanity project or a manifestation of body dysmorphic disorder. Think what genuine good that man could accomplish if he got over his self obsession and devoted some of that time and money to helping those in need.

So no to prf?
Brian needs to wirk on his voice. He sounds in his 70s😂
Dr. Young, you are handsome and healthy and inspiring ❤🎉💯
He doesn't look young. He just looks weird.
I am not sure about calories restrictions. I heard that if you starve yourself, the moment you stop eating normally again, you will balloon and gain weight because your body thinks you are starving. Starving can not be good for anyone. Eating healthy: ok, but restricting calories does not sound so great.
Burning more calories than you eat is literally the way you lose weight. This is common knowledge.
By basis of of caloric restriction, I’m 75 thousand years old
I just want the energy I had in my 20s and 30s. My physical active life (I was very fit) caused injuries that wasn't a big deal back then. Now, in my 50s, I'm paying the price.
What a tragic character - spending all his time and effort to seem younger. Think of the good he could do in his community with all that expenditure.
But how come it looks like he recorded with lens filter?
Where can I sign up to be a fat donor??
I do look a lot younger than my 46 years old, i had fat transfer to my face and neck at least 4 times!
How was your experience with fat transfer? Was it good? How long do the effects last? I am thinking about it

It's just the most public midlife crisis in history. It's seriously sad to watch.
I'm a MD. Use something immunoreactive as renuva just because u don't have enough fat is mental.
Expensive and risky.
Just wait some time to put on some fat.
How did Brian gain 15lbs while still being on a calorie restricted diet? 2150 calories is still under his maintenance caloric intake.
dont know if this will reach Dr. Youn, but theres a Qure Skincare advertisement (about microneedling) using him as advertiser on RUclips. I thought it looked a bit suspicious and since some have used other medical professionals via AI for their ads i thought id spread the info just to be sure.
maybe somebody else knows more/can contact him?
My Italian Mamma always used to say “as you get older be plumper. Your face will look better. No wrinkles.”
I for one would rather live a shorter happier life than a long and miserable one.
He may have got compared to her because he dyed his hair red also. He had blonde hair as a youth, dark brown hair up until he started his program, then dyed it red after his transformation. If he's trying to get healthy,he shouldn't use toxic dyes that absorb through the scalp.
I think Brian is doing well. He is healthy and we can learn from him.
learn what?? taking 100 PILLS daily? nope, not me
He needs to accept the fact that he's going to age no matter what you do to your body...
He keeps saying "we decided to..." how many doctors is he employing?
4 million on his face? Why not donate to UNICEF, veterans, homeless and animal shelter? It’s immoral.
Well it is true what they say. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I bet he's got another 4 million in his pockets.
Although I think he understands that he is doing an experiment on himself, that is why he uses extreme options. But cosmetic facial modification does not really fit this concept, because little fat in the face does not mean that you are less healthy than at 18. It is the same as trying to stay the same height as at 10 years old.
The guy is a freak. His face always reminded me of Commander Data from Star Trek.
A bit harsh. I say good for him
Same here
@@JasonEyermannThe truth is that probably little to none of what's discovered will be affordable to the average person.
