well, they are. But compared to the nether update and what they intended the caves and cliffs update to be they're not that big
a lot of people often forgot that 1.16 was rushed and the team at Mojang was overworked, so don't be expecting any large scale updates that is on par with the nether update, nor am I expecting future updates to be as large as 1.16, unless you want a large scaled end update to be released in 2025 or 2026, plus 1.16 released in the middle of the pandemic, it was released in 2020, so there's that, even though no one never expected the pandemic to be as big as it is.
I'm gonna say this now, but PLEASE people, keep you expectations low for 1.22, it may not be an end update or a new dimension either (uh... why are people asking for it now when even when the Overworld doesn't even feel that it's complete or that we didn't even have the end updated yet?? but seriously, people need to understand that developing and making video games is a LITERAL JOB, and all jobs are hard, even something as simple as video game development, lots of jobs, including video game development, on a professional scale, at least requires you to have a college degree in tech related fields like computer science, WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY WHERE ALL JOBS ARE NOT EQUAL AND PEOPLE ARE LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES.. sorry for the caps, I just want people to understand that most jobs, including adding a mob, is hard as hell, especially in this society...)

Overworked? 70 developers with half a year for 4 new biomes and like 3 new mobs?
@@pigwhaleg theres actually less than 50 people working on the base game, split between Java and Bedrock, most of the 500-600+ employees at Mojang works on either the business stuff and other spinoff games, plus other games aside from Minecraft, so only about 1% of the employees work on Minecraft itself.
@@DusklightZeta still, 50 people for like 6 months can create great things. The problem is that they think every idea needs like 15 pages of concept art before just adding something good 💀

minecrafts code is hard especially with 2 versions its hard cause if one thing doesnt work on one device they have to change the entire code again and again until it works may be 50 people and they are probably split in half to work on the 2 versions but thats still alot of work
Ever since Mojang made that update,the rest of the updates were not of the same quality as the previous...It's kinda sad,they peaked at the nether update.
Side note,the best update was 1.15 because they added bee's.Simply astonishing and game changing.

another thing about the nether update is scale, an update to an empty dimension is going to be way bigger than adding things to the pretty much complete overworld, (another another thing is 1.17 1.18 and 1.19 came out about 6 months after the other, and 1.15 was only about 6 months after 1.14 itself)
the only thing i'll ever criticize mojang for is getting rid of the furnace minecart. I loved that thing.

Very true! it's impossible to make an update everyone likes. i actually really like 1.21 and even though most people would disagree with me i don't like the nether update that much. i think the nether was really nice before (most ppl say it's boring and i'm just weird lol)

@@SleepingCrimson nether update made the player powerful and now this mace Minecraft always makes the player powerful, they added warden who was hard to defeat and now they added mace and density 5 and we can one shot warden.
Now even if they give a buff to hostile mobs, we have mace with wind burst 3, we can continuously hit them with mace and moreover we have elytra.

While yes, nether is an awesome update, but it was too good to the point where everyone compared every update to the nether update, and hate it for not being on the same level of content that nether brought.

I'm alright with the Nether Update, but I don't like how they're trying to make it more livable when the Nether is meant for a temporary expedition. The Forest biomes kind of ruin the aesthetic of the Nether's hell-like appearance.
Keep hating guys, but hate for what Will make the game better. and dont do any death treats, thats How we, as a community, help shape the game for a better Future. By giving It criticism and not letting mojang do stupid choices and put slop into the game

i think the issue is they havent been able to beat the nether update and caves and cliffs really the only way to top them is to light up the portal in the ancient city and add a new dimension or a end update
I don't think they have to top the nether update, I mean if they do, great, but I think that's not really necessary
The Nether update made the Nether a lot easier. Minecraft has been getting easier day by day since the bed got added in the Wolves Update in minecraft Beta. Back in the day, Ghasts were the most annoying mobs because their fireballs were hard to hit back and bows didn't reach up to the ghasts. If anyone would ask me what the greatest update was in all of minecraft, i'd probably say Infdev. Infdev came after Indev and was the first row of updates having an infinite world generation. The best game version is Beta 1.7.3 😉.

nice job! you pointed out a lot of necessary stuff in this video and i agree with pretty much everything.
the main thing for me is that 1.21 would have been MUCH better recieved by community if it took 1.16's place. people are constantly saying "you made much bigger and better updates during a pandemic" but a lot of us know that mindset is unrealistic and greedy. the developers have also stated 1.16 was SUPER stressful for them to make as well.

@@Nomi924 oh lets goo mate, that is so sick. One thing, whenever you start something you're not gonna be good at it immediately. Just as you said, you need time. Also, you're gonna fail a lot (probably) but if you just learn sth from each failure then failure will become a teacher, in a way. Just thought you should know that

The Nether update added 4 biomes, Netherite, and like 3 or 4 Mobs. It wasn’t even that big, 2 of the biomes are copy paste. They should be able to make an update of that size every year, just scrap the team behind legends and dungeons and put them on the main game
uhm, they added 36 new blocks, 15 new items, 5 new mobs, 5 new structures, 1 new echnatment (and 4 new biomes). Not to forget that most of these fearures are all very unique and still match the "minecraft style". And they are also implemented in a way that makes sense: they're not too op (except netherite maybe), not too diffiucult either, they don't "destroy" the nether ambiance but rather enhance it (oh and they also added a new music disc and new nether music) and they also look good (biomes, netherite, ...). Then they also added some new, very unique mechanics, like netherite and pigglin traiding.
And don'r forget that they had to come up with ideas for all of that, create textures for all of that, test everything (probably multiple times), get rid of some things again, ...
And then there's also all of the "behind the scenes" stuff, like bug fixing and all that stuff
(I'm not mad btw, it's just that game development is probably really diffucult if you consider everything. And most ppl don't realize that)

@@pigwhaleg yeah, that might be true. Maybe they should start trying to make updates like notch did. That was so much better
im glad they spend time fleshing out their concepts making them fun instead of throwing the first idea in and bloating the game, the game isnt as new as it was when notch was developing, and theres less and less obvious additions.
