Heartbreaking Rescue of Starving Shelter Dog Who Never Had a Name

- We rescued this dog from the city pound, he was emaciated and injured, and sadly, has never received any medical care there. He didn't even have a name, just a tag number on his ear.
Timmy's journey to recovery has just started now, we will post updates on his progress. He's had such a difficult life, neglected for so many years.

This breaks my heart that this poor baby had to endure this in his life. We don't know the situation from other countries, but here in Romania city pounds are indeed horrible places. Most dogs live better lives on the streets where at least they can find some food or have a chance to be rescued by someone.
@@HowlOfADog : I know only the horrific state of city pounds in Greece, or perreiras in Spain, because I watch a lot of sites from there. The situation of the Polish kennels is also tragic, because there is constantly no money for any improvements. I live in Denmark, where there are no kennels at all, no 'city pounds', only small, private hotels, where the dog is taken, because f. ex. someone died, or cannot take care of a dog any more, but they immediately apply to social media, or advertise on their own sites and those dogs are re-homed after some days. There are no homeless dogs in Denmark, no abandoned, because of the very strict laws ; all of them have their homes and families to take care of. The Danes are really in great love with dogs. I would say; Denmark is 'heaven' for pets of all kind'. Best Greetings to You. You are the Angels. ❤

What an excellent decision to rescue him from the city pound. I am worried about his coat and whether he is a double-coated breed/mixed breed. Yes, please do keep us updated! ❤
Thank you! He is most likely a double-coated breed mix, that's why we didn't want to shave his fur. But it was too matted and tangled, we shaved only the most affected areas so that we can deal with the skin infection.

Man the fact he was skin and bones and could see everyone one of his ribs is just terrible I wonder why someone didn’t notice sooner.
A dog is such a forgiven creature, you could lock him in the boot of your car for two days and not give him food or water and when you open the boot/trunk he will jump out and lick your face to let you know that he is happy to see you, now you try and do that with your mother in law and that’s a different story 😊

Why is the city pound starving the dogs in their care, that is the important question here.
Yes this is totally barbaric, it’s better these dogs are free and can at least find food and shelter. Here they are starved.

Its great that youve helped this poor soul but to be fair, what should be done is some serious campaigning for shutting down this drath camps rather then having to post this sob stories..
Romania is in European union so take that advantage 🤷🏻♀️
Unfortunately the situation in Romania is far more complicated. The fact that we are part of the EU has no significance for dogs in city shelters, as regulations for dealing with stray/shelter dogs is an issues left in the hands of national/local authorities, EU does not interfere. Romania has some norms and requirements for city shelters, but the problem is, as long as these shelters are being under the state/ government's administrations, improvements or animal well-being is not a priority for them. The law even allows for dogs in city shelters to be euthanized after 14 days. People rarely adopt any dogs from city shelters, most of them are being saved by being rescued by animal rescue organizations and then adopted abroad. It's a problem of mentality here too, as most Romanians chose to buy dogs from shady breeders, rather than adopt from the city shelter or save a stray dog from the streets. And there's the problem of stray dogs too, many end up being poisoned or shot, the law states that stray dogs roaming freely in wild areas are considered wild animals and can be hunted. Romania didn't even have an institution empowered to punish cases of animal abuse or neglect, until about 2 years ago, when the animal police department was created.
And then you have the animal abuse shelters in the US that euthanize masses of dogs .... they're the same and worse.
