I grew up with this in the 90s I had the VHS but it snapped I was so devestated I always loved this movie and this is my most favorite songs I really miss my childhood who agrees give me a shout out.
I met with Cory Feldman at a local Comic Con asking him about his work on the film. He said he was surprised I knew about it and it was pretty much a quick and easy check for him. Despite admitting the film being an insult to history, he had fun working alongside the late Dom Deluise in the recording sessions and on the songs especially this one since he loved Dom's work in both comedy and animation.
If you watch it in its original Italian, the song is a joke number. It basically the characters being so naive they don't take the compliments as insults. It's basically dry humor about how these characters are so dumb as not to know when something could be an insult.
No way... my grandpa bought me the VHS when i was a little girl... this took me back to the early 90s

"I feel smarter just by looking at you." I never realized until now that that line could be seen as an insult. XD
Hence why I said it COULD be seen as an insult. :) I know that it wasn't the intention - just an unfortunate side-effect of the way it's worded.

Insult to history?!
That’s so cool!
R.I.P. Dom DeLuise. He was an awesome American actor, an amazing author, a great comedian and a good cook. Plus, he was super funny.
I’ll always remember when I learned he died. I was in a college classroom, saw the headline on a student’s laptop, and softly went “Aaahhh!! 😩”.
He was a director once too.
There's no other song like this sung by Dom and Corey.
Childhood Memories.
RIP 🙏
Dom DeLuise
1:37 that sounded like an insult

0:18 I guess that's why Columbus needed 🛳. He honestly couldn't have expected to go anywhere in that.

Same voice actor. Dom DeLuise
Despite that I hate this movie, the song feels so relaxing. Especially the opening classic music!
Killjoy
I think my first Dom Deluise movie was between an American tail and Oliver and company
I think mine was between The Muppet Movie and All Dogs Go to Heaven.
This makes me laugh lmfao also this song has different variations
Today is the 31st Anniversary of The Magic Voyage.
