I LOVE this bike! Outside of it being far too large for me, it’s exactly the kind of touring bike I’d make for myself. I look forward to seeing how your journey went!

That's a great piece of hardware! I'm a fan of the Pinion transmission and have a gravel bike with one. I've looked a Co-Motion and think they are a great builder.

I'm at 3k miles now and loving the Pinion and the Co-Motion build. I'm finding the Pinion gets even smoother as it ages and breaks in. Thanks for the comment!

Man, that is SHARP! Very nice setup you have there! Love the color! Looking forward to seeing your next adventures! That may be a bit pricey bicycle but it's only money. Money isn't any good if you don't spend it!Go out and have some fun, that's what it's all about! 😃
    Take care my friend!

The spec of this bike is to die for. Pinion 18 spd / Gates belt is the very best of bike transmissions. Truly low/no maintenance. I wouldn't worry about loss of efficiency in the transmission you won't even notice it once you start riding and enjoying your bike tour. But what you will notice is the almost complete lack fo maintenance save for the occasional/annual oil change of the Pinion gearbox.
    A very nice bike indeed.
I have several Rohloff hub bikes with Gates Belt. The maintenance is next to zero save for the oil change of the Rohloff every 5k km. Would never go back to a primitive high maintenance derailleur transmission.
I contacted Co-Motion several years ago about buying a similar spec bike but on a different frame but NEVER got a response even after sending several emails. So f**k 'em. However they seem to have built you a nice bike.
I do like those Ortlieb front fork bags. Very neat.
The colour you chose for your bike really works.
Enjoy riding your new bike and tour.

Thanks for the comments Alex. Good to hear positive feedback from another cyclist with a belt drive and internal gearing. I seriously considered the Rohloff option, as it would have saved some money but decided to go all in with the Pinion as this is most likely be the last bike I'll ever need. Well, until I need an e-bike when I get old(er).

Crazy $ I know, and first time I tapped my retirement account, it’s kind of embarrassing, I’ve never spent anything near this much on a bike before. But I know of Road bikes and MTB’s that sell for similar, and those are made offshore and aren’t custom. Plus this is a 60th bday / retirement present to myself! Thanks for commenting.

@@TheOutsidePerks More power to you. I mean, a custom fitted frame, and top shelf components are totally worth it. It's like the difference between a stereo and an audio component system. LOL
