G'day, thanks for the ride down the line, thought the next video was going to be up the line to Wangaratta, do you ever wonder what bloody line they are going too switch me into when driving a train, l hope they never demolish the Seymour Railway Station fond memories for me there, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
We are on our way to Melbourne in this series of videos. Sometimes we wonder what track we are going on but the signals tell me where we are going. The Seymour station is heritage and will not be torn down thankfully. Glad you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀
Yes, it was an army siding. It left Mangalore in a down direction and curved around in a big arc to end up in a platform facing roughly 180 degrees in the opposite direction to which it started. The platform is still visible across the paddock in the distance. 👍😀
I was also thinking about that siding. I have some 1973 images (not mine) of an ARHS tour with a pair of DERMs and trailer on the Defence Department siding, crossing the old Hume Hwy level crossing with Mangalore signalbox visible in one of them.
The crossing usually 'times out' when a train pulls into the station. Here is a video of it timing out: ruclips.net/video/0FMS99wuZU4/видео.htmlsi=y6I7LMdLnwCJPxJa 1:35
Is it true that one of the standard gauge Vlocities now has automated station announcements? I saw a video about 6 months ago on one from Albury to Southern Cross and there were automated announcements by the same sounding voice as the Melbourne tram ones, but I haven't heard any on this service so far. Can you clarify any of this please?
All vlocity units have automatic announcements but they are disabled. The standard gauge units are sometimes activated but mostly not used. The conductor still officially has the job of making announcements 👍😀
Another great video! Cheers from Wagga.
@@jamescrawford9883 thank you. Very happy you enjoyed it. Cheers 😀 👍
Binge watching this afternoon 🙂 Very good, as always.
Nothing like a good binge watch in a comfortable chair and an easy afternoon. Very happy you are enjoying them 👍😀
Excellent video

Just passing thru, I have to go the doctor office and get the stitches taken out by 8 AM
That's fairly early in the day. Hope all is well with your finger 👍😀
4:41 , opposite Mangalore Station was abroad gauge grade crossing. I think it might have been an army siding.

@@emdB67 great. I know of that tour but was not on it. A bit early for me but would have liked to have been on it. 👍😀
@@driver667 A bit early for me too. I'd have been around 5 or 6. I'd have known nothing about enthusiast tours back then.
@@emdB67 👍😀
0:41 the boom gates at Ewings Road are still lowering
They are. That is the reason for the speed limit for stopped trains to the crossing. 👍😀

@@tomhenry6440 yes it does. That's why the speed limit is there. 👍😀

@@driver667 Very interesting. I wonder if they'll ever use the automated announcements full time. Thanks for that info.
