    Thank you very much for your video! It is one of the best if not The Best assembly video I have ever seen. Extremely detailed and well done. Saved me hours of frustration by replacing it with couple of hours of fun. INCRA has documentation better then most, but video is the King! INCRA should link this video to their website.

    Thanks for this. I’ve just bought the basic LS Positioner and am currently working through the best way to mount it to my custom “mft”. I’m watching your series with great interest - the more detail the better. Keep up the good work - thank you.

      +Kevin Miller Hi Kevin, if you can - use the crown moulding extension. It is an awesome solution.
      However if not have a look at this product - it gets great reviews on the Festool Owners Group. festoolownersgroup.com/festool-jigs-tool-enhancements/it's-finally-here-the-precision-plate-for-incra-positioners!!/
      If I was only using the MFT with the fence, this is how I would do it.
      The fence is awesome on the MFT, wait for the next video it will blow your mind in use.

      The Woodgrafter Thanks Andy. I did look at that plate but it’s designed for the original positioner that had holes in the top sides to screw into the plate. I think I’ll drill the mounting holes in the bench but sink them into the top (using a Forstner bit hole) so they drop below the surface when not in use - push them up from underneath and slide the positioner in place. Looking forward to part 3.......

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  5 лет назад +1

      @Kevin Miller The only problem with that solution is you fix the positioner in one plane on the MFT. I have found great use for it by mounting it on all four sides of the MFT.
      That way I can cut anything from 0.5mm to full width of the MFT AND rip to full length. I demonstrate that in the next video - if you can wait for that before you commit then it may add value.
      Also the holes on the plate should line up with the T-track on the Incra bracket so I think it should work. But would be worth a ping to the manufacturer.
      Cheers

    Hi, you show assembling the sliding fence to the LS Positioner, you mention squaring up to the LS Fence using the nylon screws. Is there a reason to square up or check the vertical squareness of the sliding fence or do the 4 rods auto square it?

    Like your videos! Which version of INCRA fence have you purchased (LS 17 430mm, LS 25 635mm, LS 32 810mm)? Do you have any recommendations or comments regarding the choice? Is a longer fence better? Would appreciate your comments. Looking forward to watching part 3. Best wishes.

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  5 лет назад +1

      +C B Thank you for the feedback, really appreciate it.
      I went for the 635mm it was a good size for my workshop in terms of overhanging the end of the table when retracted. But also to use on the MFT table. I.E. The fence can reach my parralel guide when fully extended. It also fitted well to my CMS GE with my CMS VL side extension connected.
      Ultimately it depends on what you are going to use it for. If you only want to put it on the CMS and don’t need the reach then go for the 430mm
      If you are using it on an MFT with the CMS VL connected to the MFT then go for the 810mm as the 635mm is not long enough to reach the OF or TS module in the CMS. If it’s only on the MFT then go for the 635mm.
      Having said all that, if I had a larger workshop, with more space around my MFT and CMS benches I would have gone for the 810mm As it would do the same job and give me a longer reach if I should ever need it. The longer fences are of course more expensive and less portable - so that would also need to be considered.
      I do discuss the lengths as part of the review on episode 4 - so watch out for that.
      Hope this helps.

    A question - You squared the Pro 2 fence to the table using a shim. Is the Wonder fence supposed to be automatically squared to the table after it is attached to the Pro 2 fence? My Pro 2 was square to my table with no shims. When I attach the Wonder Fence to the Pro 2 fence, the Wonder Fence is not quite square to the table. It seems to be off in the same way your Pro 2 was - it looks like it needs a shim to push the top part of the Wonder Fence a bit forward. Any experience with this issue? Thanks, as always, excellent video!

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  3 года назад

      Hi,
      Yes I have seen this issue, it has become more obvious since I moved to a different mount to fix it to my new MFT. The pro 2 sit 100% 90 degrees to my bench - when I add the super fence the face sits out of square to the bench. However I can't for the life of me work out why that should be.
      I have dropped Incra a note to see if they have any views - and will come back with an update.
      Cheers

      @@srfracer8293 I talked to Incra support. They indicated that he Wonder Fence is squared independently of the Pro2 fence, and that it can be shimmed into square with the same supplied shims.They also said that a small inclination of the WF forward is fine.

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  3 года назад

      Hi,
      Thank you for the feedback, I forgot about it to be honest.
      I am not sure how you could shim the wonder fence, and retain complainer on both sides, and the split fence feature, and the adjustability (for jointing mode). Seems a bit of a poor design.
      I also can’t understand why it wouldn’t take its setting from the standard fence.
      I do get the slight lean forward though, and so longs as you ref from the flat surface the. It should all come out OK.
      I,ll have a play this weekend.
      Cheers

    Hi there
    Re the install of the Incra. There is a mounting plate especially made for the positioner to mount directly to the MFT. The positioner fixes directly to the plate which stays on the positioner all the time and is secured to the MFT by two screw knobs so it can be removed or re positioned on the MFT. It works perfectly no drilling or aligning at all it’s brilliant. It comes direct from the USA (not available in the UK as far as I know but easy to order on the web) Mine arrived in London but was mis sorted then went to Australia before it came back but guess I was just unlucky! If anyone interested I will try and dig out the manufacturers name.

      Hi Brian - are you talking about the precision plate festoolownersgroup.com/festool-jigs-tool-enhancements/it's-finally-here-the-precision-plate-for-incra-positioners!!/
      Yes this is a great solution, the reason I didn’t go for this was I wanted to mount it on my CMS set up that doesn’t have an MFT style top.
      But for the CMS that mounts on the side of the MFT this is a great solution.
      I thought there was a UK stockist for this now - but I am be mistaken.

    Any chance of kick back using a fence like this in conjunction with the plunge saw on the parallel fixed rail?

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  5 лет назад +1

      +ShortWorx Hi, the fence doesn’t increase the chance of kick back, but there is always a chance of kick back on a track saw.
      Usual precautions reduce the risk. Make sure the work is on a flat secure surface, ensure the work is secured and ease the saw into the cut. So plunge the saw to depth and then move.
      But I haven’t found that the fence increases the risk.
      Hope this helps.

    Actually I just found at benchdogs UK a incra mounting plate for their quad base dogs that can be screwed into the mft.
    So this plate can rest of four benchdogs and is then screwed on this quad base dogs and should be therefore absolutely repeatable and removable.
    I wi test ist in the next week's if everything goes as planned.

      I agree, this is quite and old video now. Since then, I have made a plate out of MDF that uses the quad bases to mount the Incra to the MFT table.
      It works very well, as the Benchdogs version is based on that design I expect it to be awesome.

      Ouch,
      I always cringe when I see folks using table saw’s with no guards and fingers close to the blade.
      It is just to easy to make a small slip.
      I think we all need a healthy respect for our tools. In fact if you ever notice a deep gouge on my Festool 1400 rail. That was kickback with the TS55, jumped straight off the track and bounced on the track then into the bench,
      I certainly wakes you up.

    • @TheWoodgrafter
      @TheWoodgrafter  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Phil,
      I wouldn’t take this onto site - purely a workshop tool to increase precision. Not a portable solution.
      I take it off the table and refit it in the next video. Once it’s mounted on the crown moulding. It is as simple as undoing the knob on the crown moulding putting it in the next location and tightening up again.
      So less than two mins total. The good thing is that it goes back 100% accurate. Building and setting it up in the first place is a pain - that took about two hours, and taking off and replacing the high level support is really painful and badly designed (in terms of quick change).
      Attaching the super fence is quick and easy, with the exception of the high level support. And boy is it good device and so accurate.
      Thanks for the comment.
      Regards
      Andy
