You have no idea how emotional the fandom was when this collab dropped because we know how meaningful it is for Jhope. He calls Jcole his muse. He personally met him during Lollapalooza when Jhope headlined. And a friendship grew from there. It is one of the most wholesome relationship BTS have in the western industry along with Coldplay.
@@Lovmyself they text each other like they have each others numbers. Hoseok wished him and his family a happy new year, calls him hyung then on insta Jcole congratulated him for on the street, wrote how he learned what hyung means and said for him to be safe (something along those lines. it was very sweet) good vibes good people
@@littleponeybeyts5420 I know Hoseok was geeking hard and smiling from ear to ear when he heard that part fkfjfkfjd 😭🫶🫶🫶 it's kinda like when Jimin was listening to on the street during one of his livestreams and he couldn't help but laugh and hit the wall when he heard the "Jhope Cole world" line😭😭💜
I couldn’t stop smiling throughout the video. I wanna tell something to Varnell. This collab didn’t happen out of the blue. J-hope started as a street dancer very young and he has been very passionate about hip hop since then. He admires old school rappers because he used to dance on their songs but his ultimate admiration has always been J Cole. I guess, J hope first met Jermaine when Jhope headlined Lollapalooza in 2022 and that year, J Cole was also performing at Lollapalooza and Jhope met him at the backstage and after 4-5 months, we got this collab announcement. You can see Jhope’s admiration for Jcole in this song also. He didn’t try to outshine Jermaine out of respect. Jhope had very less bars in this song. Did you notice in the music video that when Jermaine was rapping, Jhope was dancing. He tried to recreate his teenage days when he used to dance on Jermaine’s song. So you can understand how special this collab was. Oh and because he has been a dancer, his knowledge of beats is unmatchable. His songs always have outstanding beats. And to cherish his pen game and word plays, one must have a good command over Korean language. Translator Armys help us with that and we’re grateful to them. Can’t wait for your reaction to his albums 🤩
Wonderful observation about Hobi dancing throughout J Cole's whole part as if he was back in his early years! And you would expect the main rapper come back and do another verse on their own song but Hobi didn't.. and actually J Coles verse is mindblowingly amazing and emotional... I get chills! From the hope, lyricism, and respect bursting from this song! ❤❤❤
Thanks for this great comment giving Varnell the full context! Very helpful! It may also help to add that this isn't BTS' first interaction with J. Cole - as they wrote/released "Born Singer" shortly after debuting in 2013.
@@girondellecd and they finally cleared the song born singer from Jcoles born sinner in 2022 as it was released officially with their anthology album Proof
RM said "fuck the algorithm" and here you see why... 32 bars from Cole, Army knew we got blessed. But we also know Jhope deserves that acknowledgement. This was really fun, much love to you both for giving us this.
The thing about the algorithm is that the big three streaming platforms (RUclips, Spotify, Apple Music) are always trying to coerce BigHit to pay money for Discovery Mode and ads for BTS members' music, but since BTS has one of the biggest fandoms in the world, Discovery Mode is neither necessary nor organic. So, in their desperation to get that money and to not lose any, streaming platforms try to supress and shadowban BTS in the algorithms. That's why people mostly find out about BTS music, especially the members' solo projects, from their friends, relatives, co-workers, etc. It's still mostly grassroots, despite how big this group is.
The moment when jhope and jcole first met in person at lollapalooza is recorded in the documetary 'jhope IN THE BOX'. I've never seen jhope so starstruck and shy, it's actually adorable. He named himself after jcole. I actually recommend watching the whole lollapalooza concert live, jhope on stage is hypnotizing.
Hobipalooza was another level. I was there and will NEVER forget 100,000 of us singing Hangsang at the top of our lungs. The energy was INSANE - it permeated my body. It was like transcending. After standing in the heat all day, I questioned my sanity, but J-Hope’s performance made it all worth it!!
BTS should have been included in the 50th Hip Hop Anniversary Special that The Roots leader directed to showcase how far hip hop culture reached worldwide and how it spawned the creation of the Worlds Greatest Group, BTS....all the way across the world i. South Korea. Please check out the tv reality series, American Hustle Life, where Warren G, Coolio and Tony teach young BTS about LA hip hop culture.....and they have their first concert of 200+ people who they begged on the streets of West Hollywood to attend. They also received vocal training from Iris Stephensen, who Sister Act 2 was modeled after. Fyi, Whoopie Goldburg later met BTS on the Graham Norton Show where she gave JK a shirt off her back whose sales supported an Africain aid charity.
welcome down the rabbit hole Bro, you're about to go on a wild ride full of thrills, buckle up. Welcome to fam baby army 😏 Love seeing your honest reactions, takes me back to when i discovered them too. We get it, we do, welcome
Jhope is the shadow/2nd leader of BTS. Whereas RM takes care of the more business/PR/music visions side of leadership, Jhope is the performance leader making sure the team always gives their best in their performances and leads the boys during practices.
J hope is the dance captain aka like the co- performer director. Like if the director is not there jhope takes the lead. Their performer director is their OG choreographer. So jhope said that he would like to be a performer director in the future. Also apart of Bts performances , his experience for that is being in charge of his stage in Lollapalooza
I think watering namjoon down to the business/pr leader is a little redundant cuz he is very much at the centre of bts' musicality and artistic story. He writes the artistic journey as well as makes his members artistic desires clear to the company/teams involved
@@mev9752 yes like Son Sung Deuk, their choreo director from the start. Also Jhope is their main motivator during practices, remember Jimin was like Hobi hyung dont get sick anymore for my sake..hehe when Jhope was absent they just didnt have the same drive when Hobi is around.
Varnell is every person who gives BTS a fair chance listen - and then wonders, incredulously, how he was never exposed to them before. The truth is a combination of things: 1) People automatically passing them by because they assume they're (only) bubblegum pop music 2) BH not payola-ing them into everyone's ears ad nauseum 3) Inherent unacknowledged societal bias/xenophobia. 4) Automatic dismissal of their music because folks assume ARMY is mostly teen girls, and they don't want to be associated with what teen girls like. All that to say we're back to Yoongi saying everyone would be a fan if they'd just listen without prejudice.💜
Also algorithms putting them into Kpop category, though especially with their solo work we know they are clearly Rap, Hip Hop, Indy etc. It's really annoying bc, yeah while your points absolutely apply, some ppl might still give a chance but it really NEVER crosses their timeline or recommendations
@@skarbuskreska I've always shown my indignation about this... in everything they do they are categorized as kpop even though their album is the total opposite of what kpop is. It makes me very upset because they deserve to be known as their true style of music. That's why I say that kpop shouldn't be considered a genre, for me this is just a way of keeping BTS inside the kpop bubble because the group's members are the only ones who can "threaten" the music industry in the west. I've known BTS for 3 years and over time I've come to understand the real reason behind this type of behavior towards them.... I hope that one day we can break this system and that they can receive the recognition they deserve
@@Auroraarmy All these points above apply, it's very hard explaining this to people new to bts or baby army but once you get in deep you start to learn. Most days I think it's a good thing that I know what they are up against and how they still need army's support fighting against it but occasionally I wish for the ol' ignorance is bliss or my baby army days when I was clueless to it all lol.
I agree with the algorithm. If you're just casual listener of music esp Western, BTS would never pass by! Though the most common reason I witnessed personally is "Ah Kpop, ok!" It's bc others were "payola-ed by their companies so they've seen the other grps and already have an idea as to what Kpop is so they don't give a thought bc they don't like the prior grps" and annoying people label our boys as kpop alone, fnkc them! Second, A lot of people don't like feminine men or soft men. Equating men as always with muscles and macho, masculine things. And Kpop is known for versatile men, who can do both! Honestly, fnck them all mofos!!!
I'm so sick of this copypasta, it clearly comes from someone who doesn't undertand any of the BTS rappers well. And you, OP, just come up with your own opinion. It's gonna say more than this copypasted load of nothing.
A heads up on a couple of Easter eggs in this mv. The opening scene is the same alley featured in J.Cole’s SIMBA mv. The subway platform jhope is dancing on is For the Bowery where JayZ Got started. The subway exit is the one JayZ took his name from. Of course, jhope would do his farewell mv in NYC where hip hop got its start. 💜
Thanks for sharing such details with us, I'm rather belatedly starting to find out more about these iconic rappers that influenced BTS. For instance, it's because of RM's new album that I heard about Tyler, the Creator and I'm rapidly falling for his music.
In the j-hope lollapalooza documentary, Hobi talks about "Higher" being his fave song growing up & a strong influence on him. He was fan-girling hard about meeting Jcole in person.
I love this. Hobi is the one that snatched me into the rabbit hole with his amazing dancing. As a childhood dancer, I needed him in my life and he took me to heaven musically by taking me to his insanely talented brothers. Love seeing other people get snatched up too.
Almost one year to their June 2013 debut, the rap line attended the Eminem concert in Seoul during June 2012!!!!! I know Suga admires Eminem, Jay-Z, among others!!!!!
Good point on the comment of “why hasn’t the algorithm shown me this?” Army has been working HARD to get mainstream recognition of all the guys but harder for the rapline to get their credit for being the talented artists they are in their own right. Until ppl like these two respected producers finally stumble upon - our boys work goes unnoticed and it’s a shame. Thank you both for seeing and hearing what we do! And for explaining the “why” so much eloquently. 💜💜
Cole called himself hyung (how korean guys call older friends, means older brother) on insta too which was so cute lol and also they keep in touch, hobi said Cole sent a message about military before he enlisted
The whole song started from J Hope whistling he does it a lot and he decided to use it as part of the melody. When J Cole sent him his lyric's J Hope didn't want to cut any of them as J Cole is his Muse so he put them all in. There's a behind the scene's where J Hope is writing a card to J Cole and gets really nervious and asks., "Is this how ARMY (Fandom) feel when they write letter to us". There's also BTH were at Lollapalooza J Hope with Jimin are walking and there's J Cole waiting to meet him. They talk and J Hope is fanboying. It's so lovely to watch this lead to J Hope Featuring J Cole on his song which was a see you later to ARMY before he went to start his military service which ends in 3months. We'd love for J Hope and J Cole to have time to do another track together.
Jhope used to dance to JCole since he was 13yold, you have to check the making of the video, you will see a very humble JHope very excited to collaborate with his idol!! . The 7 boys from BTS are multitalented, very different and above all Kpop usual sound, they are full of different textures, styles and they all can DANCE!!! JHope is a street dancer super talented!!Love this reaction!!! Borahae!! 💜
I think it helps that BTS don't seem to view the people who inspired them as competition to just be beaten or bested. Every time they've met someone they looked up to they have been completely honest about that without trying to "look cool". There's a behind the scenes short of Hope and Cole meeting for the first time at Lollapalooza, when they were both performing, and you could tell how excited J Hope was to tell Cole that he was his muse and that "higher" was his favorite song. That genuineness goes a long way to building real relationships. Especially when people seem so concerned with being cool to the point that they either hold back on telling someone what they've meant to them as an artist and just giving them their flowers, or they only view their idols as artists that need to be surpassed in order to prove their own greatness. My top 5's will usually be filled with artists who understand that the greatness in others cannot actually diminish the greatness in themselves, and that increasing the number of true "goats" with unique pov's is a net positive for a culture that they themselves loved enough to make them want become great.
"for j.cole to collab with you, he must like you." hobi is a sweet, lovely, talented, passionate, and charismatic guy. The only way in life is to like j-hope. 😂
I am THOROUGHLY enjoying Varnell's journey into ARMY-hood. 😄 And he isn't alone in wondering why he didn't notice BTS sooner--but as they say, when Bangtan decides it's your time, they will find you. This feature parallels how j-hope approaches dance--he does his thing, but then takes a step back and gives the other artist space to do their thing. After noticing this in the "On the Street" documentary, I could see it in this song and how he treats others with respect. But make no mistake--his flow is 🔥. And he can sing and dance too! Can't wait for our sunshine to be back in 108 days. 🌞
JCole is such a nice guy too, he was very lovely towards hobi who is a HUGE fan, and the rap he sent was so good and profound, many people see a collab with BTS as a low effort thing.
There's a behind the scene video of them shooting the MV. And 80 percent of jhope & jcole's interaction is basically them hugging each other over and over again. And I'm all for it 😍
People keep rating J-Hope as a dancer but forget that he is just as good a songwriter and producer as RM and Suga. RM even stated that J-Hope has the greatest feeling for a good melody. This is proven by his album JITB, which was highly rated by all the world's most prestigious music media and Rolling Stone magazine included the album in the top 10 for 2022, while the Grammys named him artist of the month, along with Beyonce.
My new found happiness is coming on youtube and seeing Sleep uploaded a new BTS reaction with Varnell, not just for the fun of seeing his reactions but because i learn a whole lot from both of you. I'm super grateful that i got suggested this channel❤❤❤
I always enjoy reaction videos of people finding BTS but their perspective is priceless. It isn't from a music fan but guys intimately involved in music. Can learn so much from watching these!
On top of whistling, 32 crazy (and touching) bars, and harmonizing, J Cole was also kind enough to shoot the MV with our precious J Hope. And "J Hope. Cole World" which led to Hope World
J.Cole is one of J-hope's earliest musical influences. His stage name 'J-hope' and his first mixtape 'Hope World' which pays homage to 2011's 'Cole World' are J.Cole inspired. J-hope started as a freestyle underground street dancer listening to J.Cole's music. And 'On the street' MV says it all as you can see him dancing freestyle in the street to Cole's rap. So it's more like J-hope's Tribute to J.Cole than a collab. Im so glad I found your channel 💜
It’s UNREAL! I know I’m new to a lot of people, but me and ARMY have been having extensive convos for over four years now. A lot have even met me in person at shows, even in Target 🤣. We’ve been family, so this just feels like an extension of our amazing relationship 💜💜
Their solo albums have allowed some of them to collaborate with their idols. Hobi’s idol is J.Cole. He’s always been vocal about that so we were so excited to see them meet at Lollapalooza when Hobi performed. It’s great for us ARMY to understand how big a deal this collaboration is. It’s a bomb song. That’s the great part of stanning BTS, they bring all kinds of beats, genres of music to their discography and always surprise you every time. Their solos really showed the world how individually different their styles and musical preferences are plus how they are so incredibly talented on their own but their synergy together is like Varnell said, Ultron. 😅 Loved this reaction.
Exactly! I recall Sleep telling Varnell about Jin’s collab with Coldplay, and I was just going to say this is kind of the same situation. Ever since 2022, BTS members have been on a journey of self discovery, their first solo endeavors, and the HARD work they’d done for 10 years really paid off, because almost all of them had the opportunity to do their literal dream collab.
i always thought this is a rather long feature - which i really loved for J-Hope, considering J.Cole is the rapper he's looked up to. and you explaining that often it's around 16 bars and J.Cole had double that. but it makes sense. i mean, if i was an artist and got the chance to collab with one of my role models, i'd make it as much about them as i could. to show my admiration, appreciation, everyything. so i love for hobi that he got to, that J.Cole wanted to, that they got to film the MV together. sadly, that doesn't always happen with collabs. but they both took their time and made it work. i think this was a beautiful "gift" to hobi as well as army.
I know right!! J-hope needs to be exposed to actual hip hop audiences!! Thank you Sleep for doing this💜 it's really sad that western labels and streaming services just club hip hop from the rapline as "kpop"
exactly this! I'm not surprised why the algo didn't bring Hobi, RM, Suga to Varnell's tl....so much gatekeeping, shadow banning, miscategorizing and blackballing of bts occurs.
j-hope gave birth to that beat and whistling. j.cole saw how j-hope is truly authentic with his music. j-hope is the one that can do it all. From writing his music, producing and conceptualising. Watch his stage. He is the most powerful there. j-hope’s musicality, lyricism is under appreciated by many. The fact that j-hope can switch flows unique to his own shows how extremely talented he is.
J Cole must really appreciate Hobi 1000%. He even called himself j-hope's Cole hyung (older brother). As a fan, i would die of emotion. He not only did the collab but also DELIVERED. And then showed his appreciation towards Hobi with open arms, embracing his culture with a simple "Cole hyung". That's respect.
By the way back in 2013 right after J. Coles song "Born Sinner" came out BTS made a cover of the song with their own lyrics /stories and called it "Born Singer" to my understanding J.Cole got made aware of it at that time and was positive surpiesed that this group in SK did a cover right after the song was released...years went by and BTS performed the song 3 times once in 2015... Once again in 2017 during their wings tour final and than in 2022 thought not for a live audience (cause of covid) but in a filed live performance in a desert setting as part of their "Proof Live" Clip which was part of their promotion of their than released anthology Album called "Proof" they performed 3 songs in that live clip ( Born Singer, Yet to Come and For Youth) which are all part of the Album and yes for their Anthology album they got the special permission from J. Cole to release the song "Born Singer" officially!!! Also the first song they sing on the live clip is "born singer" so maybe that's an option for a reaction later on! Fun fact RM changed up his verse a little to fit his current age /situation more (so maybe reacting to the live performance from the "BTS begins Live tour from 2015 with sibtitles and than to the 2022 Version might be an interesting comparison...I am not sure if the live performance from 2022 has the lyircs trans in the subtitles but if not a fan uplaod propably has (thought I would check out the original source on bangtan TV first)
@@annettedixon5902 oh I see thank you! 💜It's been awhile since I last watched the performance...so I wasn't so sure anymore since the microkosmos performance from a concert that they uplaoded for one of the festa celebrations didnt have the lyirc translations sadly and only what the members said in between (I wanted to show that one to someone new to bts and it would have been sooo perfect if the lyircs too were on the video to follow along the performance) not long ago .. anyways time to watch that "proof live performance" again... 😁
They have to be. I can’t think of a simpler explanation because my account is virtually dedicated to BTS and YT seldom recommends them. I keep having to search for “recently added” content.
BTS has been shadowbanned from RUclips for a long time. I have been subscribed to their channel for years, and I never ever see new releases in my suggestions.
I love Varnell saying that Cole including the current conversation on his verse is including j-hope in that larger conversation. Yeah! They SHOULD be included. Only reason they're not, is bias, prejudice, and a world whose navelgazing blocks any outside views. I'm really glad musicians of all kinds break out and look up, because the world is here, and j-hope is part of it.
I, too, thought that was a really important insight from Varnell And likewise, this isn't just your typical reaction video. The fact that our dear Sleep, an artist within the industry, is presenting BTS to Varnell, another industry artist, also includes BTS in the bigger conversation. In other words, this is an historical moment. It's about time BTS' hip-hop is recognized for its value/place, and that's exactly what you gentlemen are doing. Thank You!
💜🇧🇷JHooe it’s just unbelievable talented and he was just so happy and proud to have JCole collab and give us this amazing present for ARMYs before he goes to to Military. A lot of respect for JCole. Thanks for the reaction!!! You guys should watch The Guide to BTS to realize how Big BTS is all over the Planet 🌎!!! BTS and it’s members have a lot amazing artists collab with them. Check RM (Rap Monster) mixtape Mono and his album Indigo, and his song with Wale called Change is also amazing.
If someone hasn’t mentioned it, when j-hope and Cole met, j-hope said his favorite song was a deeeeeep cut, and you could see Cole and his whole team were extremely impressed. I was floored when they did this, ultimate seal of approval. Also we tend to say that j-hope doesn’t ride the beat, he is the beat. I. Can’t. WAIT to see what he thinks of “What if” 😎 THANK YOU SLEEP THANK YOU VARNELL!!! And don’t worry, I kick myself all the time that I didn’t find them sooner, I think many of us do who weren’t here from the early days 💜 It’s fun to see you having fun 🙌🏾
The amount of happiness we collectively as a fandom experienced when we found out about this collab was magical!! I am so happy for and proud of Hobi, and all the BTS members 💜
I have watched this so many times now 😅 I even just put it on in the background while working because even just hearing Varnell's reactions brings a huge smile to my face 😁
Sleep, thx for dropping this! Varnell, you are a real one! Also Suga’s featured in Juiceworld Girl of My Dream which you need to checkout! Actually BTS worked with Juiceworld back in 2019 for the track All Night!
This fandom has immense love and respect for Cole hyung and how he embraced j-hope. They say never to meet your idols, but so far Cole (and Coldplay) are true exceptions.💜 Looking forward to the continuation.😊
God I love Varnell. He's so hype next to calm and collected Sleep. This contrast kills me everytime!! I wanna see that ARMY meter going high on this guy. He just cracks me up 😂😂😂
Something you have to understand about the algorithms is that BTS is put in this kpop category which makes a lot of people not get exposed to their music even when they collab with people like jcole. Next is that they get bare minimum when it comes to playlisting. Last is that when people try to share in rap communities like the r/hiphopheads reddit, people will either massively downvote or posts will be deleted simply because it's BTS and "kpop." Annoying af.
Every artist's comment about Jcole collab is like this. He rapped longer than expected and that's amazing for both of them. This was truly an emotional time for every one of us.
I'm addicted to video reaction (of BTS) and you guys are specials in this game! I like to learn new things about music and hip hop and you speak about new things I didn't know, that's so satisfying. I feel even more proud to know who are the bangtan boys, to know their story and to listen to them. By the way today THE Diana Ross said “I really like his songs and his videos. MJ is coming through all of the moves. I just think he’s great!” while speaking about Jungkook so I cannot wait for Varnell to listen to our super pop star boy. But let's him listen to the masterpiece Jack In The Box first, that's the next step of the staircase to BTS WORLD
I feel really sad that MJ couldn’t be here to know him, I’m sure he would’ve loved him. I even think they would have done something together. That would have been JK’s dream collab the way Cole was J-Hope’s. But Usher was a wonderful choice instead.
@@joymaripau4 that's so true !!! I'm a big big fan of MJ and I'm pretty sure if he was still alive he would love BTS because it's the same vibe : good mind, real artists, music lovers, hard-working, try to surpass themselves, always innovate, try to make the difference, try to change mentalities, fighting against racism and negativity... Before falling for BTS I saw someone on twitter said "BTS is like 7 MJ in one group" I laughed so hard because it was impossible for me to compare the king of pop to anyone, let alone a "boyband"... But now I understand it, they are GOLD for real. I'm also a big Usher fan so I was so excited when the SNTY remix was realized 🤩🤩
can’t wait for you guys to check out HipHop Phile/ HipHop Lover.. J. Cole is j-hope’s muse.. hence his name, & the name of his 1st mixtape Hope World. excited to see the Jack in the Box reaction.. 💜
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers indeed! Jin, the eldest member, just got home from the military and will be the Olympic torch bearer for South Korea! They’re amazing and it’s awesome to hear both your take on their talent! Welcome to ARMY
Everytime I'm here, Varnell always represents me lmao.. I was so clueless too when discovering BTS rapline and hey yeah he reminds me of my reaction while listening to their music.. LOVE all the discussion and yes it's valid being mad of the YT algorhitm cause YT love messing with ARMY and BTS, idk what beef YT has for always hiding BTS under a rock when its algorithm should push them out
I 100% get how Varnell hadn’t come across them through YT recommendations. My YT activity (on a new account even) has been 99% BTS-related for over a year and YT is still trying to convince me to join a far-right conspiracy cult or something. 🤦🏻♀️I keep having to search for BTS content specifically.
anything BTS is specifically shadowbanned on yt since like 2022 lol it's hilarious rly because a bts mv would have views and like ratio that doesn't make any sense meanwhile other groups/artists would have less likes but 2-3 times more views....... them ads and payola be doing wonders for them kpop groups lol. Anyone who has been paying attention can clearly see this. also add in that yt deletes views at the tens of millions for no reason not just for the guys new solo mvs but even doing so to old mvs which aren't new releases. it's actually so mf sick ://
it is precisely when j-hope dances (on Vlives for ARMY, on Hope On The Street) where you can see his rap influences, the music he dances to, the music he draws his inspiration from. To me he's a CLASSIC hip-hop artist.
J-hope is so underrated ngl. The guy was always in the shadow of other BTS rappers and then BOOM he released a record featuring some of the coolest ICP throwbacks in hip-hop period!! Arson was produced by clams casino too. the whole record is just banger after banger. such a shame it’s so short
I loved this so much! On The Street (solo version and JCole version) are two of my favourite songs. I'm so excited for you to discover the rapline and their incredible music!! This was such a wonderful video. Thank you! JCole was incredibly kind and respectful towards JHope...I'll love and respect JCole forever now.
Had to watch this reaction twice because Varnell’s bright joy at this surprise is infectious. We get so spoiled with so many songs that this feels like a distant memory now. Thank you for bringing the feeling back of how great this moment was.
I know there’s the other version of this song that doesn’t include the J Cole feature, but this is THE song. Cole’s feature was so meaningful, what he was saying was just… so meaningful. I was so happy for J Hope that this happened. It really felt like some kind of destiny. The song was such a gift to music lovers, from both of them.
We're so proud and happy for J-Hope. Cole has been his idol since the beginning as he mentioned in their 2014 track "Hip Hop Phile" where they talked about their early rap influences, both from Korea and the US. I'm so grateful to Jermaine for being so down-to-earth and respectful to our Hobi. On The Street was released before he enlisted to the military as a gift to ARMY so it kinda hits hard.
As a jhope fan and J. Cole fan this song release had me in literal tears. Especially the respect Hobi gave to his mentor and idol to have that many bars. Cole harmonizing was my favorite part. Touches the depths of my heart. This collab was so special. It was top tier frfr.
I can’t wait for him to discover vocal line.. like cause they really are SEVEN ACES! Each with their different flavor but together it somehow WORKS and WORKS well!
Oh you giving us teaser song reactions now too?! Sleep you spoiling us 😹 can't wait for the reaction to Jack In The Box ~ 💜 Edit : Oh and to Varnell, just like you were in shock seeing J Cole we were too, to us we knew Cole was an inspiration musically to Hobi; as during his verse on BTS' song Hip Hop Phile he says "Hope, hope world, before I made my own world, Cole world" and Hope World later on being the title Hobi gave to his first mixtape (and first track on it,) so to us it was such a happy surprise that Cole wanted to collaborate with our Hobi 💜 ...sorry I just realised I was saying Hobi out of habit, we call J-Hope Hoseok or Hobi ^^;
It's so natural to use "Hobi", we don't even think about it. Varnell is going to have some studying to do: Yoongi/Suga/AgustD, Hoseok/J-Hope/Hobi, Namjoon/RM (Rap Monster), Taehyung/V.
@@girondellecd Also RM/Moni/Joonie/Joon, Jin/Seokjin/Jan/Seokjinny, Suga/Yoonki/MeowMeow. JK/JungKook/Kookie, Jimin/Jiminni/Jiminshi/Mini/Chimmy/ChimChim/Mochi, Tae/TaeTae/Vante, Hobi/Hoba I could go on
@@SleepDeezand a reply?? Letsssss goooo!! 😂 are you gonna show him the song with Becky G as well?? (I’m not saying the title cuz he might be lurking here somewhere in the comments👀)
Personally, I don't watch reaction videos, but you guys are very educational, fun and genuine. And Jhope and Jcole's collab was a life changing experience. As Vernall said Jcole aint be doing 32 bars for anyone he won't like and that's where I cried. It's true. Jhope loves, admires Jcole so much and he deserved the collab. And maybe i am bawling right here cuz that's how BTS mean to me as well.
One thing for sure... Cole see something in j-hope that he likes and respect . As much as j-hope sees in Cole i think it's not hard to say Cole feel the same way towards j-hope. I know for sure j-hope is one true special artist himself. i can't wait for u to hear his music cuz he made it himself and it's unique. His way of rapping and making bars is make himself so special.
It's not only about talent, it's about sincerity towards music. If you really love something, you have to be real towards it. To have 7 talented people staying real to their music for 11 years... it's not something that i witness oftnen lately. I'm sorry english is not my first language so i can't explain myself better. Thank you Sleep for this reaction i'm learning a lot.💜And Thanks for introducing Varnell to us, he seems a real one too. I will take a look at his work for sure. ☺
Voltron, Transformers, Power Rangers, lol. I love this video and am so glad I found your channel. This song was such a moment for j-hope; dream come true to work his muse. Love from a BTS ARMY.
J Cole is J-hope's biggest inspiration and this was his full circle moment. You could see he just gave the song away to J Cole to do his thing and the respect. Also Jack in the Box is a beast album but the live version of the songs is on a whole other level! He performed them at Lollapalooza
Not a single throwaway bar!! So true. I think this is my fav verse from him in a longggg time. Mad respect for JCole. This was his 2nd best business decision. His first best decision was a couple months ago lmaoooooooo 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Varnell's reactions - facial expressions and showing his excitement / wonder/ amazement with his body is so much like our Hobi (Jhope). Varnell exudes full body joy and excitement like Hobi haha I have a feeling that Varnell will find Hobi to be a kindred spirit 😂 Just imagining him seeing Hobi dancing hiphop with the incredible Henry "Link" in the Hope On The Street Documentary will make him flip. Oh so much stuff to watch and enjoy! Thank you Sleep Deez sir for introducing your friend to our beloved Bangtan Sonyeondan. Thank you so much for being so proud of them, supporting them and sharing your insights about their incredible music discography. More power to you.
oh shit i caught this so early, i've been waiting for the next installment of varnell's journey and this was perfect!! i am SO glad you kept the feature a secret, his reaction had me reliving my own first time seeing the mv. i got goosebumps like it was my first time seeing it again and everything. and sleep sounds like me when i talk about jhope lol, like "oh so he's good at dancing, ok", "no no you don't get it, he's not just a dancer, he a DANCER dancer!!"

I didn't get concrete sense of a friendship formed, for sure a mutual respect and sense of colleagueship but did they really form a friendship?
Don't forget Halsey, she befriended BTS back in 2017 and has probably collab'd with them the most.
@@Lovmyself they text each other like they have each others numbers. Hoseok wished him and his family a happy new year, calls him hyung then on insta Jcole congratulated him for on the street, wrote how he learned what hyung means and said for him to be safe (something along those lines. it was very sweet) good vibes good people
When he said “Jhope Cole world” I legit cried.

Hobipalooza was INSANE!!! Varnell needs to watch that!!

This is an excellent recommendation! J-Hope's performance at Lollapalooza is iconic & that behind video w/ J. Cole is a MUST for Varnell !

Loved your reaction!! We can’t wait to see if they will perform together once j-hope is out of the military.

Jhope is the shadow/2nd leader of BTS. Whereas RM takes care of the more business/PR/music visions side of leadership, Jhope is the performance leader making sure the team always gives their best in their performances and leads the boys during practices.
Yes! Members have stated that if RM couldn’t be the leader, J-Hope would take his place
Never saw someone describe Jhope as the shadow lol but def tru about him being the 2nd leader 👍🏻😄

Thank you for explaining it so well.

I didn’t know about JayZ, that’s amazing
Thanks for sharing such details with us, I'm rather belatedly starting to find out more about these iconic rappers that influenced BTS. For instance, it's because of RM's new album that I heard about Tyler, the Creator and I'm rapidly falling for his music.
I love it! Thanks for sharing
Wow, thanks for the info. 💜
In the j-hope lollapalooza documentary, Hobi talks about "Higher" being his fave song growing up & a strong influence on him. He was fan-girling hard about meeting Jcole in person.
I love that Hope properly made J Cole the biggest part of this song. Respect and love.
Absolutely! It's a wonderful show of respect and admiration... it makes me tear up every time.lol 😢❤
I love this. Hobi is the one that snatched me into the rabbit hole with his amazing dancing. As a childhood dancer, I needed him in my life and he took me to heaven musically by taking me to his insanely talented brothers. Love seeing other people get snatched up too.
He would go nuts with BTS' song Hip Hop Phile (Hip Hop Lover). BTS studies and respects the greatest.

Wow!!!!!! This was a beautifully expressed opinion!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
"for j.cole to collab with you, he must like you."
hobi is a sweet, lovely, talented, passionate, and charismatic guy.
Thank you to the person who suggested keeping the feature secret!!LOVED his reaction
💯 Such a fire suggestion!!

Love that 99% of your viewers that like also comment. This is highest percentage I have ever seen!
Omg, his first introduction into BTS as a complete group NEEDS to be Born Singer!!!
j-hope gave birth to that beat and whistling. j.cole saw how j-hope is truly authentic with his music. j-hope is the one that can do it all.
Fun fact RM changed up his verse a little to fit his current age /situation more (so maybe reacting to the live performance from the "BTS begins Live tour from 2015 with sibtitles and than to the 2022 Version might be an interesting comparison...I am not sure if the live performance from 2022 has the lyircs trans in the subtitles but if not a fan uplaod propably has (thought I would check out the original source on bangtan TV first)
The 2022 live version has subtitles. That’s my favorite “For Youth” performance so I’ve watched it hundreds of times 😁💜

@@lotte9327 Exactly. I come searching for them because I learned the release date through other platforms. It’s not even subtle.
I love Varnell saying that Cole including the current conversation on his verse is including j-hope in that larger conversation. Yeah! They SHOULD be included.
But let's him listen to the masterpiece Jack In The Box first, that's the next step of the staircase to BTS WORLD
100% agree that's also why I love Sleep Deez it's not just entertainment, it's also very informative
@@mrgxthvn MJ would have loved the tannies so much ☹️☹️😕 he's gone too soon
I was refreshing my RUclips this whole weekend. Finally
Same😅
Same, same 😂
Saaamee🥲
Same lol
Yes!! This was a great treat to wake up to!💜
can’t wait for you guys to check out HipHop Phile/ HipHop Lover..
They come together AND FORM VOLTRON
🤦🏻♀️I keep having to search for BTS content specifically.
because BTS doesn't want to pay for the ad (I read in Twit), that's why now most BTS mvs have fewer views even though they have more likes
anything BTS is specifically shadowbanned on yt since like 2022 lol it's hilarious rly because a bts mv would have views and like ratio that doesn't make any sense meanwhile other groups/artists would have less likes but 2-3 times more views.......
them ads and payola be doing wonders for them kpop groups lol. Anyone who has been paying attention can clearly see this.
also add in that yt deletes views at the tens of millions for no reason not just for the guys new solo mvs but even doing so to old mvs which aren't new releases. it's actually so mf sick ://
FR!! I have to search for bts content, while yt keep suggesting me a girl group that I’m not interested in and keep tagging it as “not interested”
@@7Flowers1Dream me too, I keep getting weird recommendation, mostly kpop that I never intent on listening to lmao
it is precisely when j-hope dances (on Vlives for ARMY, on Hope On The Street) where you can see his rap influences, the music he dances to, the music he draws his inspiration from. To me he's a CLASSIC hip-hop artist.
eu assisti esse vídeo 3 vezes. me emocionei com a reação dele. senti orgulho do jhope, do BTS, de ser ARMY.
obrigada por esse vídeo!!!
Introducing j-hope with this collab is just so... 😮 the poor guy didn't know what hit him 😂
Varnell was glowing while he watched, and I got to witness it. 🔥
Had to watch this reaction twice because Varnell’s bright joy at this surprise is infectious. We get so spoiled with so many songs that this feels like a distant memory now. Thank you for bringing the feeling back of how great this moment was.
Varnell seems like a fun person to hang around with. I like him 💜
I know there’s the other version of this song that doesn’t include the J Cole feature, but this is THE song.
Jhope idol is JCole. He really wanted to have Jcole Rapp in his mv. So Jhope gave Jcole the most Rapp lines. Jhope we miss and love you ! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
i think i read somwhere that this video was shot at the same place j cole's simba mv was shot . talk about paying homage and respect !
Re-watching all these because I watched your first one with my friend, and DUDE! I cannot WAIT until Varnell hears "Hip Hop Phile"
I can’t wait for him to discover vocal line.. like cause they really are SEVEN ACES! Each with their different flavor but together it somehow WORKS and WORKS well!
Cole DID NOT skimp on this, he definitely laid it down this track 🔥 🔥
This was the best introduction to Hobi👏👏👏 I can't wait to see his reaction to the albums/mixtapes and YESSSSS the harmonies!!!!!
Oh you giving us teaser song reactions now too?! Sleep you spoiling us 😹 can't wait for the reaction to Jack In The Box ~ 💜
Edit : Oh and to Varnell, just like you were in shock seeing J Cole we were too, to us we knew Cole was an inspiration musically to Hobi; as during his verse on BTS' song Hip Hop Phile he says "Hope, hope world, before I made my own world, Cole world" and Hope World later on being the title Hobi gave to his first mixtape (and first track on it,) so to us it was such a happy surprise that Cole wanted to collaborate with our Hobi 💜 ...sorry I just realised I was saying Hobi out of habit, we call J-Hope Hoseok or Hobi ^^;
JK/JungKook/Kookie, Jimin/Jiminni/Jiminshi/Mini/Chimmy/ChimChim/Mochi, Tae/TaeTae/Vante, Hobi/Hoba I could go on
@@tylavidal1481 Yes! I was only mentioning stage names, but we have so many pet names for them!🥺😍
10:05 ayyyyy that’s me🙈🙏🏻💜
Immortalized 😂 you famous 💜
@@SleepDeezand a reply?? Letsssss goooo!! 😂
are you gonna show him the song with Becky G as well?? (I’m not saying the title cuz he might be lurking here somewhere in the comments👀)
The ARMY and the suggestions been killing me…oops I did it again, “ARMY” 🤦🏾♂️😅
Varnell's playlist getting longer😂💜 Great to see you back ! Thanks you Sleep!
Jhope is such an incredible talent. I’m so glad you guys are enjoying your BTS journey. 💜
Not a single throwaway bar!! So true. I think this is my fav verse from him in a longggg time. Mad respect for JCole.
This was his 2nd best business decision. His first best decision was a couple months ago lmaoooooooo 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This reaction brightened my day. Varnell reacting to JHope dancing with a big smile and then his excitement and respect when JCole came into play. 💜
it makes me so happy to see people being genuinely surprised and admiring BTS's artistry
Jhope’s version of In My Feelings is even featured at the end of Drake’s MV!
I like the way you roll. Using J-Cole as a surprise secret weapon. 💜
