Congratulations on the 300! I remember when you were at 100 subscribers and I’ve enjoyed each and every moment with you and your adventures. 🎉much love to you from Phoenix Arizona ❤
Congratulations beck, I've got such pleasure out of all of your videoes so thank YOU!!! If you gesso your paper these crayons will move fantastically, I did that for the gelatoes and it worked brilliantly
Thank you! It feels a bit like hard work at the moment, with the end of the year rapidly approaching. I hope it calms down a bit after Christmas, haha.
I love a good swatch chart! All of these types of art crayons speak to my inner child. If only they would dissolve with water better like neocolor II. They did blend nicely in your piece with the oil though! And congrats on 300 videos🎉 Im happy I have been here for most of them😊 I know how much effort and time goes into making videos and your work doesn’t go unappreciated :) can’t wait for more!
Thank you! 😊 Yes it is a bit of a struggle getting some products to dissolve in water; I always appreciate how amazing the Neocolors are! But I still had fun with these and I like how clean they are to use. Apparently they work well on gesso covered surfaces so I'll have to try that.
300! One of my favorite art RUclips channels. Congratulations! Here’s to 300 more. I’m not a big fan of these or gelatos. I don’t think their pigment payout is worth it. Hope you have fun with them.
Thank you so much! I had more luck with the Marabu crayons than gelatos, but yes they can be very finicky to work with and don't always put out the rich pigment. Rougher surfaces seem to be beneficial but really I am still not very good at using them, haha.
I had the same issue with low dissolving with wc pencils. Only Albrecht Durer did I manage to dissolve well. So when I started to look into crayons, I got Neocolor 2 and they are great, no regrets.
Congrats on 300 videos! As for the crayons, I am pretty sure that set is all the regular colors but I think they have a shimmery set also. Its good to know about the pastel mat. I find the crayons work good on paper or cardstock that has Gesso on it.
I've never seen shimmery ones! I might have to look out for those...they seem difficult to find lately though! I will try them on gesso too maybe, thanks for the tip! ❤
Lovely colours but I think I will stick with the Caran D’ache ones as they are just wrapped in paper. I’m trying to avoid unnecessary plastic. Congratulations on your 300th video Becky.
@@BeckyTregear yes, I agree with you too, it's always better to use what we already have, instead of throwing anything. I think the Marabu crayons are really quite bad but some fun textures could be achieved. I tried them on all kinds of paper and I only destroyed the paper 😩
Congrats on your 300th video Becky! I only discovered your channel a month or so ago but I LOVE your videos and I'm always waiting for the next one to be posted. 😁 Thanks for sharing with us.

I'm glad to learn about that paper and water mixable oil (never heard of that product before.) Hope to try them all out someday. I have that mixed media sketchbook BTW :)
Thank you! Yes, anything oil will break down other oil based products, so I imagine regular linseed oil would work as well, but I thought I'd better use the water mixable stuff, since I had it lying around anyway. I hope you've had more luck with the mixed media sketchbook than I have, lol!
Congrats on your 300th RUclips video Becky!!! Those crayons are so bright and colorful in your 300 picture, they look great. Here's to your next 300 videos! 😊
5:51 I was introduced to these type of crayons (1. was Faber Castell Gelatoes) in Art Journal youTube videos. They loved to collage papers, seal it with Gesso or Matt Medium and then use crayons to color their background. So when I finally bought water-soluble crayons from various brands, I tested them on paper as well as on Gesso. They glide and blend great on Gesso with and without water. I prefer this medium on a gesso-ed surface.

I don't think I sealed mine, lol. But I imagine that a regular spray sealer or fixative for oil pastels would be fine. As long as it isn't water-based, then it won't activate anything when sprayed over the top. 😊
