In this video I am playing with Marabou Shimmer Art Crayons! These buttery, smooth, colorful, opaque art crayons will mark on top of slick surfaces, they do not need any tooth. Marabout Art Crayons can be blended with water or your fingers. I'm laying down a heavy layer of color, blending it with my finger, and then wiping out a stencil pattern with a wet paper towel. Since the art crayons are water soluble, they wipe away beautifully to reveal the pattern of my Gustav Klimt inspired Forest stencil from Joggles, creating a wonderfully unique background.

A question beautiful Elizabeth should l seal the work? and if l do what do you recommend? I am asking this because is there any sealer that you recommend for charcoal, pastel, this shimmering crayons, gouache and watercolors ONE FOR ALL THESE.
I use Spectafix on pastel and charcoal. I use spray varnish just enough to “set” the rest and then brush varnish.
Hi. I have been thinking about getting them, but I wonder, since they look so creamy, I worry they go out fast! My Neocolors II seem to last forever. But these Marabu seems to be more plastic package than actual product. Am I wrong?

@@veystone2580 I don’t use them all the time. I have tons of mixed media supplies and the only thing I use consistently is glue. Whether or not they wear out fast would depend on how much you use them.
How do you set the crayon?
A bit of spray varnish and then brush varnish

@@minnahumble2294 As long as you were using acrylic products you can always layer them over each other. Yes!
Did not r,realize they are permanent……
They are not totally permanent t but they are much LESS moves le after 24 hours and then you set them with some spray varnish

Once they dry are they waterproof?
No they are not, they will need to be sealed with a bit of spray varnish and then brush varnish
Are these similar to Tim Holtz metallic crayons?
I’m not sure, I have not used those. :)

That's a cool technique; I've bought these but never thought of using them that way. What do you use to SET these crayons?? I suppose only a spray would work as anything else applied with a brush would reactivate and smear them.
I set them with spray varnish and then brush varnish, both acrylic

Do the crayons become non soluble when they dry or do you need to put something on top to set it? I loved the background
They are not permanent, they will move much less after 24 hours but they will still move. I hit them with a little bit of spray varnish to set them, and then I brush varnish over all of my work
