Bought a used 1206 when I started farming, put over 12,000 hours on it never had head or pan off ran as good the day I got it as the day it left! One TA and one rear end all I spent on it.
We had a 560 then went to a 56 then 66 series tractor. When i was in grade school i remember the 806 being considered a heckuva big tractor. Then the 1206 just blew it away. They had good reliable engines, but that's more than I'll say for their transmissions in my experience, anyway - however, I thought their PTO design was outstanding. Ahead of its time, really, at least in my area as most equipment was 540 pto, or 1000 rpm for silage choppers and some hammer mills. With a John Deere, Ford, or a Case, you had to change shafts -
@@OfficialMachineryEnthusiastI believe pto hp is about 15% less then engine hp. So an 89 hp engine will give about 74 hp at the pto. Friction and going through drive train to its final output toull always lose some hp. Drawbar is done the same. Simply because farmers then wanted to know what it could do in the field. They didn't care what engine hp was. Which to me if I'm told it's got 89 hp, do a little math and youll see what it can do in pto and drawbar.
Overall I like this video but the hp numbers are misleading. The 706 is 75 pto hp and 89 engine hp while the 806D is 95 pto and 110 engine hp. The 1206 is 112 pto and around 125 engine hp.
My Dad and me had 706gas 706 diesel with glow plugs and 2 806s. I still own 1 806. I don't care what anybody says, these tractors were great series.
Awesome! I would love to own one of these eventually. I love the look of them especially that front grille 😩

Awesome story! Great to hear this thanks!
1206 had the best paint scheme of all IH’s. Anyone know why they didn’t continue with it?

Great comment!
I have a 706D which is great. Strong as hell and easy to work on
Awesome! Nothing beats old iron!!
Safety first always
I see these old Farmall tractors stock beating some much newer tractors at tractor pulls still in these days,
Our 706 pulled like a mule. Miss that beast
Nice! I hope one day I can drive one
Tractors are big and powerful
706 with 89 hp …? I put a turbo on my dad’s 706 and that got to 90 hp !! Best thing ever ….
I was looking at the gross hp of the engine sorry. I should have been more clear on that!

806 was 10 times better than the 706 I know had both.
Video says 806 had 2 reverse gears, I believe it has 4.
Ok thank you! Something I may have overlooked.
@@OfficialMachineryEnthusiast yes 4 reverse, technically 8 with TA option

I'd like to see a video on the IH 56 series as there are not many on YT
Yes! I am currently working on that!!
can you do a video and talk about MASSEY FERGUSON???
What about Massey Ferguson? A tractor ?
@@OfficialMachineryEnthusiast can you the history of Massey Ferguson?
I have a 606 with IH loader, someone called it unpopular. I hate to hear that.
What about the unpopular 606 which was replaced by the very popular 656 ? Back to the research.
Was the 606 a part of this series? Maybe I missed something. I can make a separate video covering that one!
I think the 606 was a rebadged 460 utility, I've never seen a 606 farmall row crop@@OfficialMachineryEnthusiast
Ok thank you! I was sure I was right on with the 06 series
I owned a 656 loader tractor most fuel efficent tractor on the farm
Nice!
Good video, but it feels like it was AI written & AI voiced.
No not ai written. I research and build the script myself. I just use ai to do the voice over because I’m not great and doing voice over myself.
444 c.i.d. used in trucks too/
I had a 806 that ran over me when I started it with a screwdriver broke my pelvis in five places
Oh wow! Crazy
