In Canada the Ghost and Minn Koda price difference is approximately $1,300.00 more. Needless to say, I’m not a tournament guy. Hard to convince the wife I need a $4,800.00 trolling motor …
What do you do with the extra cable from the 3-in-1 transducer? I have not been able to find a 3-in-1 transducer with a short enough cable to fit into my ghost trolling motor.
creds to lowrance for matching the mounting bracket holes of the other brands. the saltwater in the estuaries is the same as the saltwater in the ocean n u void warranty if u go out to the ocean, makes no sense. anyway i will stay with my minn kota ulterra. gud review Byron.
Good work mate. I didn’t know these were available is Australia yet, but now I do 😂 I’m not sold on how bulky the unit is though, the deployment unit is big but I liked that you can stand on it, if you needed to. In built transducer though 👍🏻 but as you say, you’ll normally use it in creeks and probably useless, same for me. Cheers for the review 🤙🏻
Great video. But i'm reading on the lowrance ghost warranty on website and it doesn't show that. Still says void of saltwater or brackish water. And did you have to use an adapter to connect the Ghost to HDS LIVE. Heard Ghost is a 7 pin and live is a 9 pin. Thanks.
Hey mate, check the install video out for those details - I don’t remember needing an adaptor. You are right, I’d say the website was the original sales information. Like I said, literally just changed.
@@ByronTeaHill Thanks for the reply. as i'm waiting for Ghost to arrive i went ahead and ordered the prop shaft anode. So can put that right on. Sure website will update sooner or later but that was great info. You are the only one i've seen that with. Not even on Lowrances you tube. Ha. I think i had bad info on adapter. Well its a adapter it seems to be in box. Not a 7 to 9 pin. Foot pedal has a 9 pin mini plug. So i seeing its a 9 pin mini to the sonar 9 pin connection and thats suppose to be in box. Is that was you had? Great info. Thanks.
I agree that the 3 in 1 would be preferable, and it is only a couple hundred for the transducer in the motor, but there could be a big cost if the person doesn’t have the latest electronics that can run that transducer. I’m pretty sure I was told that I can’t even run that transducer on my HDS gen 3, so if you are spending 5k on a motor and you already have sounders you are happy with, then it might cost a bit too much to change over to the newer units. That’s what I would be thinking anyway. I have always been happy with my HDI up the front, and am running 4-5 units on the boat- 3 on the dash and 1 or 2 at the bow- so if I was to upgrade my Xi5 to the Ghost and it only had the 3 in 1, then instead of just 5k for the motor, I’d probably need to spend another 5-10k on new sounders. That would be good for Navico, but not so good for my pocket 🤣🤣
Great review! Very helpful! Thanks
I love that your reviews are honest and not driven by sponsorship
Another great vid mate. Living the dream!
Thanks Coopzie13, easy to do when the product works. 👍
Great review, it is good to see a manufacturer responsive to Australian conditions and usage.
Mate the team at Navico was quite good to me with the information. They helped answer the questions I had and were really accommodating

Nice

the 3 in 1 transducer on the motor doesnt have cable off it. it's a new nosecone on the trolling motor

What kind of mount do you have for the hds 12??
