    I love mine. One thing though don't turn it off then stow it. It can potentially cause the computer to freak out then you will have to reset, and recalibrate it. I am on the chick if you can't figure out some of the tricks.

    I'm glad you are liking the Ghost so far. I too switched from an old Motor Guide to the Ghost. Bass boat electronics upgraded me to a Ghost and two Lowrance FS 9's on my 2006 Triton TR186. I love my Ghost and Bass Boat Electronics did a great job with my install. Its been about three years and no issues so far.

    I've had my Ghost several years now. There were some issues at one point (the dreaded "it just beeps five times and blinks twice quickly and does nothing else" issue) BUT Lowrance was really good about getting it fixed fast. The repair guy said it was somewhat common in some earlier models, but he's never seen one get it twice. So far so good. I absolutely love it. I call it the R2 unit. The things you can do with it in combination with the HDS units are amazing, like quickly tap out a route around structure, etc and just tell it to GO. I use it at 24v, but it does 36v as well. I can troll all morning for stripers and I have yet to figure out how long it takes to deplete my batteries, because it's never happened. A lot of times I go the whole weekend on a charge (old boat motor, I can't charge with the engine, have to charge at the dock only).

      @@bigmike19 I didn't see it performed, but apparently there is some gear in there that, in some batches, wasn't tightened enough? Either way the repair guy said that *most* of his Ghost repairs are this issue, it's a quick fix, and seems to be permanent. When I said "two quick blinks and won't do anything" he stopped me there and said "yep I know the problem". I should also add mine was fixed under warranty, but he said if it wasn't under warranty it would have been I think $170.

    I had issues with the directional arrow on my ghost not always lining up with the FFS beam and added a C-Stick. Strongly recommend adding one for accuracy. Otherwise love my ghost.

    I’ve only had the Ultrex and got the ghost with my new ranger in June, I had to get the upgraded arrow to make it match the Ultrex with the live scope direction otherwise it’s been fine, I don’t have grass I have heard the ghost doesn’t do well in grass without the addition of the ninja blade from precision sonar and the propers don’t hold up as well so I keep a spare on board

    Hates loud noises when trying to focus... Cue the airplane flyover!!! Haha
    One of the main contributing factors was the switch pedal for me as well, I operate mainly left footed so being able to switch the pedal to the right side was huge! I've been running mine for a year with no issues. The only thing I've heard people mention that had more experience with other brands is the Lowrance prop is softer compared to the other trolling motor props. I've chewed mine up a little but haven't broke it yet, I do keep a spare prop and I know you will as well.

    • @SonarFishing

      Yeah, I was really happy to be able to make that switch. I think that was a smart design feature!

    Dude you forcing me to go buy this. I have been wanting it for a while now. I have to save it up a little each month. Being disabled and drawing my VA and SS it’s hard to drop that much at once. But I’ll get one soon I hope.

    What battery settip do you use for your ghost and how much was it. Do you also use 12volts for your active 2 i think milliken said he uses 16v for his livescope did know if that was a common upgrade for them all

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  6 месяцев назад

      That’s actually the first time Ive heard of anyone using a 16-volt. I’ll have to look into that. I have three Battle Born Lithiums for the trolling motor and two AGMs for house and cranking batteries.

    What's the advantages of having your active target transducer on the motor rather then shaft

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  6 месяцев назад +1

      Ive always had mine on the motor. I find that it is easier to keep it lined up with my target. On the shaft it has more opportunity to shift and get off direction. Ive only broke one mount over the last six seasons on a stump, so overall it hasn’t been all that exposed to damage like other people expect.

    Thanks for the review buddy, really close to picking one up. Do you know if there is a way to heading lock? I troll big lakes for walleye and salmon. I use my kicker to troll but wondering if there is a way this will just steer to follow a route? I know other brands have this feature, I can’t find any info on this, thanks man!

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, although I haven’t explored that feature yet, if you have Lowrance HDS units you can create a track and the Ghost will follow it, and it does have heading lock as well.

      I use mine frequently. For me It is impossible to use without the remote. The direction it sends me when I engage is never where I intend it to be.
      You need the remote to make course adjustments but it requires many taps. The foot pedal cancels the lock when directional inputs are made

    I have the ghost, and my only complaint is that the pedal is way too responsive. I'd like to dial it down to the same feedback as the Ultrex.

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  6 месяцев назад

      I was worried about this myself, but fortunately my pedal seems to be just right for my preferences. I had been on a buddies boat years ago when the Ghost was pretty new and I thought it was way too responsive, but that’s not the case with mine.

    You like your start/stop on the right side. What percentage of your friends like the start/stop on right side like you ? Plus why do you like it on the right side ? What advantage do you have ?I have no preference right now . Just want your opinion. Especially the opinion other anglers would help too .
    Thanks

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  6 месяцев назад

      It all depends on what brand trolling motor you used the most before making a switch. Ive used MotorGuide for over 15 years which had the button on the right side, so it was my preference. If you don’t have a preference or you’re new to running trolling motors, the side doesn’t matter much, you’ll learn it regardless.

    My first impression of this thing is they are loud and when you are sitting in the passenger seat, you can feel the Boat vibrating. I was a marshal at Toledo Bend in march and rode with two different anglers with two different brand of boats. They both had the ghost and it was the same thing in both boats. Loud grinding noise and you could feel it in the boat when it was running.
