I don't think we realise how great this snake is done for a survival game (I've literally never played BOB before). From the fluid moves to the fact they EVEN included a tree climbing mechanic for it is just nuts. I can only imagine how hard this thing was to code and animate. Amazing work.
@wonderessfox4452 they added that, snake can eat its shed in the test server! But it doesn't give much food, for balance reasons. But its absolutely insane that they thought about it and added it!
I’m genuinely impressed with how realistic they went with the danger noodles. The regurgitation, the climbing, perascoping, even your comment on “venom is a resource you want to save”-which is why venomous snakes don’t want to use it on things they can’t eat and only inject it if they feel their lives are in danger. They did a crazy good job!
Despite its lower popularity of the “big three” I think Bob has the most fully fleshed out gameplay loop and most varied roster in the genre. From digging chickens to its ocean giants, and now… it gets a snake. Good video too, I wasn’t expecting choice of three biomes to specialize in but I assume the sea snake must have a dart.

I doubt it will, if PoT's one is good it'll be maybe similar to ark's, but more likely it will have static animations that won't always track to the floor.
Venom bite should definitely do more than just drain ability in my opinion. I was hoping we would finally get a game that makes venom do what it's meant to do, something like draining stamina and health but only minutes after the initial bite and gradually getting worse for the next few days (of course, it wouldn't drain enough of these things to guarantee death, but definitely enough to bring you close to it at the end of those days. There could be factors to determine whether you live and how much damage the venom does, like how much your animal weighs and whether or not they're eating well. This makes it so smaller creatures like mice that the snake is SUPPOSED to hunt get worn out fast by venom, whereas larger creatures are inconvenienced the way they should be.) The venom could also decrease their max health over those days, and your max health goes back to normal as it wears off. This effect could hasten for each bite the snake makes, but the duration doesn't get longer because even I know a few *days* is kind of pushing it. But the point is that this will make people not want to bother fighting snakes even if they can kill said snake because they're concerned about how the venom will affect their ability to survive afterwards, just like in the actual wild. Of course there'd be some that don't last this long and drain as much health too, but I just wanted something different since this game seemed to be doing every animal justice up until now. I love that venom is a resource you have to manage, but it only draining stamina or ability meter is....really underwhelming for that. It makes it so snakes are only really a threat in swarms, and snakes aren't really swarm animals.
snakes are aids to create in a survival game, like genuinely almost impossible. itll take years for the isle to implement a snake playable and make it work the way they want it. even though BoB did it really well, it still has its many flaws.
@@insappyit’s really not that hard. There are probably dozens of way you can go about it. You could make it so titanoboa can take out just about everything but burns through its energy insanely fast. Or make it so that the snake doesn’t do much damage but instead requires biting an enemy to wrap around them and slowly knock them out, then if you keep the grapple you’ll suffocate them to death. Make venomous snakes capable of inevitably killing any animal so long as the venom matches the enemies body weight and will be slower depending on the body weight to venom potency ratio. You could make it so that the snake can climb up anything that is rounded and trunks are 50/50. Could make it so the camera is closer to the head and the body follows where you are moving and looking to make programming movement easier.
I mean I can see why Isle and PoT are confident in not wasting the time and money on a playable snake. BoB is the most fleshed out or "finished" game of the main 3 thus they have a decent amount of time to work on this. It took them 2 years on and off to make this, and it's still very wonky so it'll probably be getting many passes until it feels better. Lastly the terrain alignment and animations would need to be very fluid for PoT and Isle their games just have far different requirements for animals I really can't imagine them putting a snake in as a playable until their games are really close to "done". (None of these games are ever "done" they're always updated and overhauled over time). They put out some basic unusable nest spots probably to gear up for nesting. The game modes are on their way for the deathmatch servers and almost ready. TLC for the older dinos have been happening. Directional attacks are being tested on Kentro. Alot has been changed in PoT. Isle, well it has a while to go. I don't think they'll be ready to mess with a snake playable for a long time. At least not until dinos AND everything for humans is done and ready which isn't even close to PoT or BoB whatsoever. I think it would also be the most nitpicked thing if it ever came out on Isle because the models, animations and movements require so much extra work for their playables. I also don't know the time-line for their mutated dinos if those will ever be released since dinos are still the only playables and that roster isn't filled yet. The humans need alot too since they're gonna have all those human crafting systems and such for survival games. Would be nice to see them add one but I highly doubt that can be even thought about until they start finishing up the rosters for their dinos, humans and mutants if those are still planned. Needless to say I think PoT and Isle probably shouldn't waste any time on a snake playable until their games goals are finished. BoB has had alot of time for adding playables since theirs is so far along. It's also kinda nice to see what challenges the playable has since BoB is the only one with a playable snake to look at. That could help streamline any future attempts in any future games.
@@zzodysseuszz It's not balancing that's the issue, it's the actual coding for the physics of the body. It's very hard to replicate the way snakes move.
that movement is soooo good i love it!! worth the time it mustve taken to get it that good. also the concept of body contact to the tree affecting how well youre holding on is so cool and a great way to implement the natural behaviour of coiling around trees to climb them!! i dont know much about this game but i gotta check out more this is awesome :D
The best thing about snakes is that the only thing you have to work on to get realistic movement is the side to side flow of the body. Snakes run, swim, and fly with the same movement (they technically glide but yk) and their muscle mass is so insanely powerful that real life snakes actually do climb trees Just like in the game! They can also stand, again like in the game. I think that side winding (fastest snake movement, goes up to about 15mph if iirc, and used by desert snakes such as the aptly named sidewinder) and blue (cloudy scales and blue eyes before shed, indicating loose skin to lose) would be good features to implement to flesh out the gameplay. The only gripe I have with this showcase is the fin. Sea snakes dont have fins. You were right about the land speed. Its the same stuff across all snakes, with size and strength factoring in, of course, but its relatively the same. Wish there were multiple different snakes other than sea snaes, grass snakes, and Burmese pythons. At least that's what was shown in the video. A hormone or a water moccasin (cottonmouth) would be cool.
Also, it might be unfair to gameplay, but it would be really nice if the snakes didn't eat too much. In real life, they only eat once a week, any more than that and they get fat and unhealthy. Low metabolism n all that. I feel like the tradeoff would be that the player lowers their guard about eating, and doesn't check the hunger only to starve? And more predators.
1. snake venom does not effect other snakes. Seeing as these creatures are so the same species (and the no aquatic ones aren't even fucking venemous) you shouldn't be able to die from snake venom in this game as a snake. 2. The blinking effect in The game ANGERS me so. Snakes do not have eyelids. They have a clear scale over their eyed that comes off when they shed, and it protects the eye from dirt and water. The do not blink because they cannot blink

im disappointed they gave it the ory blind ability. I was hoping the venom would eat away stam or paralyze creatures. Nope, just gave it a lame ability.
(it does eat away stam, and at points will halt ability power regeneration as well. You can optionally use dry bites or venomous bites, which determine base damage and venom yield)

Like any other open world multiplayer game doesn't have that. Ironically, I had that problem in The Isle, but never in BoB😅 I guess servers don't hold out...
Why?? The acro should win this fight. The snake didn't use anything to his advantage here. He could have blinded him, and climbed the trees using venom bites along the way. Snake can win vs acro but you can't out muscle it. Use strategy to win

im disappointed they gave it the ory blind ability. I was hoping the venom would eat away stam or paralyze creatures. Nope, just gave it a lame ability.
(it does eat away stam, and at points will halt ability power regeneration as well. You can optionally use dry bites or venomous bites, which determine base damage and venom yield)
The ranged attack blinds. If you bite with the venom it's very devastating to a creature reducing their endurance and ability power
Killer Noodle
Snake Pass is much better!
so how about a 3d snake game, yep 3d the normal 2d snake game.

THIS
This right here is exactly why I will never buy this game.
Like any other open world multiplayer game doesn't have that.
Ironically, I had that problem in The Isle, but never in BoB😅
I guess servers don't hold out...
Why?? The acro should win this fight. The snake didn't use anything to his advantage here. He could have blinded him, and climbed the trees using venom bites along the way. Snake can win vs acro but you can't out muscle it. Use strategy to win
Why would anyone play beasts of bermuda when there is something like The Isle around.
Wtf is the point of this game?
