Original Snake was released in 1967 for the TRS-80. The Nokia-Version was a remake from 1998, 31 years later. That was 26 years ago.
Theres a good chance that the game Snake is older than the parents of most people who comment on this video.

Great video, Owl! Few tips for snake, tho - you don't need to regurgitate food to regenerate your venom (just need to rest, or eat poison shrooms if you've got the venom yield increase talent in the combat tree). Regurgitating food to do that on gauntlet mode can lead to a quick end if you come across a dry spell of no food. I don't know if you've come across having bleed dealt to you yet, but if/when it happens and you escape from that fight, rest and press Z to shed your skin. When it's done it removes ALL of your bleed damage accumulated onto your snake at once. Another tip is to be wary of full aquatic paleos, as they have the largest health pool out of all the sub species for snake. This was done to help them contend with being stuck in the water with mosas and kronos. So even if they appear to be the same size as you, they'll have a significantly higher health pool than you will as semi-aquatic. Glad to see you not use venom against snakes as often as the video progressed, because when you use a dry bite (no venom) you do higher base damage and can kill other snakes faster that way. Last, but not least, snakes take ZERO injury damage, so don't ever be afraid of trying to run away if the fight isn't going your way. You'll never be slowed by injury damage, and if need be, regurgitate food to get frenzy stacks to move even faster.

@Oh-Deer-God From what I've tested, and read what the community thinks, full aqua and terrestrial snakes are the go to's power wise because of their talents (for terrestrial) and base stats (for full aqua). Sub is more if a jack of all trades, dipping into both but excelling in neither as a trade off. So it really depends on what you'd like to do play wise. Be a speedy, stealthy terror on land, do decent in both environments, or be a beefy mosa level health mid tier in the water

I think because of this video Beast of Bermuda has gotten a surge of players!! It got me into it and apparently so many others. The only consequence I'm seeing is that a large majority of the servers are now snakes. Spent 3-4 hours growing a Rex and didn't find a single player that wasn't a snake on my journey. Love the content! I love the stories you have been telling.

wooow, I don't play BoB anymore but the snake is incredible, the physics and look of weight to it with the way it drapes across things, the animations are so smooth, not to mention the unique gameplay, they really popped off with this one 👌🎉

There's a brilliant platformer game called "Snake Pass" that came out back in 2017 that featured very realistic snake physics and intuitive controls. It's definitely been possible to make fun snake gameplay for a while!

This game looks fantastic!! The environments are soooo good like that underwater cave and dry cave were so creepy to navigate and felts so real.

You know I finally realized why I like Owltimes videos. Never watched or played these games before, but his videos remind a lot of FrankieonPCin1080p videos from back in the day when he would make DayZ survival videos in the same kind of narrative story way, immersing the viewer and developing a sense of care and adventure with the growth of being a fresh spawn. Its different than watching some other youtuber play these kinds of games because you dont get that same perspective.

So good! Feels like every new video is better than the last. I’ve been so interested in watching BOB snake gameplay, I was thrilled seeing the community post for a new OwlTime nope-rope video! It’s such an entertaining combination of skillful gameplay, combat, immersive cinema and storytelling. I have yet to find another creator that has as good a balance - most are split between impressive combat and documentary-esque voiceovers, rarely both. Thanks for all the hard work I’m sure went into this, it was an absolute delight to watch.

Tips in case you havent found out yet as I watch:
Creatures can chill, share gore, and share bias plays on O2, mixpacking only counts in fights, sadly.
Turtle wont gain any venom while it has shield. As such using venom bites before the shield is gone is pointless
i’ve been watching your channel for a year now and i can say that you single handedly have kept me looking forward to the next week even next couple hours when i see you’re gonna post or when i see you posted. around february i was taken into the foster system along with my little brother as well as my closer in age younger sister . a couple days ago my mom told me if i didn’t find a way to make some (quick money ) we would loose what remanence we had left behind of our not so happy anymore life. i think i surpassed the whole loosing hope but i still just wanna bed rot like i used to bed rot and watch ur videos or play them while i walked my dogs . i just took to how you’d narrate your gameplay and how strategic you are etc . i’ll be 18 in not even 3 weeks. what do i do ? im in california and my only hopes of survival i feel are moving back to the other side of the u.s. back to south Carolina where i moved from 4 years ago. where if i was still living i would have never met the people who did this to my family. but i persevere and keep faith in the fact that i will fix my family and i will heal them. i know i will have my family back and in the meanwhile you’ll post about 20 more times before i do :)

This guy has played the isle things that shouldn't fly flying wont be a suprise to him lol
He hit on it earlier, Bob is not about realism. All the playables have abilities, sea creatures have lunges and darts, sending them flying. Things can cloak, there are defensive abilities like spike shields that reflect damage, dinosaurs can send each other flying from a pachy charging down a hill or a para kicking something small, even the turtle can slap smaller things away like a volleyball with its flippers. Some throw sand in the eyes, another can roar at an opponent turning them pink while being debuffed. It’s a good time tho.
Remember that mix packing rules only counts towards battle. You can absolutely sit next to each other peacefully. You just can't fight for each other. Love to watch you playing BoB again though 😊

I think it's weird to have a rule like that on an official server when there's already mechanics baked in to enforce it, but tis their game and they can do whatever. Just means my friends and I pick same diet dinos when we want to play and our favorite dinos when we don't mind chilling at least at some points.

I got the game because of this video. I have not yet played snake but I have a frog currently just shy of 3.0 The Achelon was my first 1.5 it was fun.
Watching an owltime video within the first 10 minutes of release is a different experience

I'm a fan of the isle and am a member of the discord. I asked them about the titan boa that they are working. They claimed it'd never be playable because it'd be to difficult. A year later here we go someone did it. When ya drag your feet the competition will do it.

Snake unironically has the easiest food difficulty in the game, you could get to 10.0 on official pretty easily as long as nothing messes with u / targets u

That weather system makes me wanna play this. But it seems so much like animalia with dinos. Which isn't the worst but isn't the best animal survival game..

I now want to see a game. Where it focuses on just being a Snake. But you can evolve your snake over time. Like do things to develop your venom, water adaptability and so on. Like if you start out, and you aren't really relying on your venom for kills. Then as you evolve, you grow bigger, but your venom will start to devolve, and eventually become non-existent. Your sea fairing abilities might evolve into being a giant Serpent, but starts becoming harder to move on land. If you tend to retreat often from fights, you will eventually evolve into a fast moving strike type of snake, and if you stick fights out, you start becoming bulky and slower.
Honestly though, imagine a game with good snake physics. But has very detailed attacks. Like the developers design enemies and the fights to be centered around how snake attacks. From striking, venom, to constricting. Imagine a Dark Souls type of game with bosses. But using snake mobility as an attack.
My favorite idea is a modern setting, with humans walking into your lair, and disturbs your long sleep. Alternatively a medieval style game would be amazing.

20:12 fairly certain you were smelling yourself there if you were hanging around there for a while. the bigger you get it becomes a lot faster for you to leave a scent on the compass, and you can pick up your own scent

A tip for fighting archelons, use dry bites to breeak the shield faster, venom bites do less damage and it wll waste venom. Archelons cannot take venom if they still have their shields
