    Nice review! I am sure once the hype is over for The Ordinary their supply and demand issue will resolve. It is simply impossible for any company to accurately assess supply during the hype stage of a product. Hype can go on for months and then just die. At some point if the sales persist, The Ordinary can adjust accordingly. This is speaking purely from my experience and knowledge of business, supply and demand in this case.
    As for spending the extra $ on DE, I think I would have to literally do a side by side test on my face to see if the benefits outweigh the cost. Honestly, I think it would be most advantageous to simply have both tested. I do think DE has quality products but struggle with their pricing. Not because I cannot afford it, but rather I maddens me to see how much they are charging for say their DE C which costs no more than $10 to make. Yes, I am including all cost here. Have I paid top dollar for products I think are effective? Absolutely, but only if I cannot not get a similar, just as effect product elsewhere.
    There are many raw cosmeceutical sites you can visit to simply get a feel for cost. Check out lotioncrafter.com for example.

    Hi! And thanks so much for your fabulous videos 👍 I just found your channel last week thru the 3-way colab and hit subscribe so fast lol. I just ordered Marla oil with my Vitacost order last night (I forget the brand). I'm almost 57 😱 And my skin is dry (Retin-A user). Pixi's rose hips oil never fully sinks into my skin so am looking forward to trying marula oil. Now ....on to your other Ordinary reviews (I love their products) 🤓

    So basically the only difference is how fast they absorb? I know Drunk Elephant's is probably technically better (less refined, more nutrients) but is Ordinary's as "special" for your skin? Would you say it gives you e.g. 80% the results as the Drunk Elephant?

    • @catepi
      @catepi 6 лет назад +4

      Aden J Purcell the ordinary is really dedicated to using good ingredients so I'm sure there's is just as cold pressed and "pure" I've tried and have both for several weeks and truly think they do the exact same thing. The only difference is in the experience of putting it on, the DE feels more "lux", and like she said sinks in to the skin more, but I really don't mind the oily look for sleeping lol and I have dry skin. So sticking to the ordinary

    I tried the DE marula oil based on your recommendation - I'm not even joking - this stuff has changed my skin for the better. You're absolutely right - this has balanced my skin and my skin absolutely makes my skin look younger. Thank you so much for this review. I'm very interested in trying the ordinary brand marula oil - if I don't love it as much as DE, I'll just use it on my body. I want to bathe in this stuff!!! Will you do a review on the TLC Sukari Babyfacial? I'd love to know your thoughts before I consider purchasing.

      I always get the e mails as well when things are back in stock. I even out in for the new foundations and the same day it came out I was able to buy 8 of them and I also got the serum foundations as well. They did say 2 weeks for before getting it so hopefully this week I'll get a big box. I actually did a review on their skincare. Not everything I like. The Marula oil is just like the drunk elephant but a little thicker. The Drunk Elephant goes into skin faster. It doesn't sit on skin as long as the ordinaries but for the price it's close enough. Everything she said i agree with.

  • @KarbonElement

    I think they both have their uses. The DE is better for the face because of the fast absorption. To me the Ordinary would be better for the body, since treating the wrinkles ONLY on your face to me is dumb.... You should look good from head to toe, not just your face. Just saying! :)

Also, my concealor goes on so much better! No more crepey undereyes or eyelids! I recently had an AT&T technician say there was no way I looked old enough to have kids that are 25 and 29! I swear this Marula Oil is the answer to my prayers! Hope your order comes in quick! I look forward to using it every night after I take my makeup off! I don’t want to be one day without it! Guess I'm one of the lucky one cause I did get notified from the Ordinary that it was in stock. I even got an email letting me know that their foundation was in. Placed my order for both types, can't wait to get them. I've heard great reviews about it. Love the Ordinary line but I still use the Vitamin C from Drunk Elephant and switch between them and the Timeless Vit. C. Being on a budget with these budget friendly sites is amazing. I do splurge now and then. Just found your channel. Your hair is lovely, is that your natural color? I'm 63 and my greys are so bad, getting tired of having to pay once a month to get them dyed and what they charge is crazy plus it doesn't last but a couple of weeks then I'm having to spray the roots till next appointment. I was thinking about having my hairdresser to die it like your color so I don't have to color greys anymore. I have dark brown/black hair. Thank you

    Hi,I m a bit confused....they say you should apply oil as the last step of your skin care routine but then they also say you should apply skincare in order of consistency...from the lightest to thickest. I use cerave moisturizing cream and this Marula oil and I m not sure how to apply it correctly.
    Also,if I want to use it in the morning where I apply sunscreen too,how should I go about it? Thank you 😊

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  2 года назад +1

      Oil after moisturizer as the oil is more occlusive than your moisturizers is. In the morning you have to put the oil on before sunscreen. Sunscreen is always last. Make sure you let the oil fully absorb first.

    Woo Hoo I'm doing this too...well sorta LOL I don't have The Ordinary one in my possession so it's not a comparison per se but just about Drunk Elephant in general. I do have a question for you :) I'm using DE and love it but what is it about DE that would make you repurchase it over saving $62 and getting The Ordinary one instead since it's a pretty close dupe? I personally love the packaging, the reservoir dropper and the feel of DE brand but I do not have another brand to compare it to...is it really $62 better? It would be hard to say positively unless you used one on each side of your face for the same amount of time and then compared the difference in how they behaved I suppose. Thanks Melanie :) xoxox Mary

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  7 лет назад +5

      For me, I really do think I would repurchase the DE in the future. I know there are people who say otherwise but I do think there is a quality difference in the oil. There is a difference in the purity of the oil and the extraction process. I believe DE's is actually patented from what I remember. Packaging is also a plus with DE. That being said, if I was put on a super strict budget tomorrow and could no longer afford the DE, I would totally 100% get the ordinary one. It would likely give roughly the same results in the long run. I totally get the trend of backlash against companies overcharging for stuff. But I do believe that often times there is a quality difference, obviously a packaging difference and its just a different market these companies are trying to target. Its a luxury product. Not everyone wants that or needs it. I like to have some luxury stuff because I think its special. That's not a popular opinion but that's ok, luckily I don't really give a hoot what others think lol. Not everything I own is fancy or expensive. Nor do I want it to be. But I do like to treat myself. I work very hard with my business and if for me something is worth splurging on, then I will :)

    • @GlitzyFritzy
      @GlitzyFritzy 7 лет назад

      I agree...so tell me this...I really love this stuff. How long does the product last you? I'm using 5 drops at night only right after the Framboos and then after it sinks in a very small pump of the LaLa to seal it all in. It was something I had to save up for (the line) and if I could get the line to stretch to the 6 month mark I might be able to continue using it LOL I don't think I'm imagining the amazing results I'm seeing with my skin even though it's just been a couple of weeks.

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  7 лет назад +3

      I am still on my first bottle that I got in December. And still have a huge amount left. I only use about 4 or 5 drops as well. I expect a bottle of it to easily last me a year if not slightly more. The shelf life of the DE is also longer than other marula oils. I think it has to do with the overall quality of the oil and again, packaging.

    • @GlitzyFritzy
      @GlitzyFritzy 7 лет назад

      Yippee thanks Melanie!! That means I can most likely afford to stay with it! I heard somewhere in my research that it has a shelf life of 3 years though I think the bottle says 2 but that's a incredible!

    I currently have a oil blend from Oskia which is ok. I feel like it's going to last forever but I will try The Ordinary when it's finished. Do you also use a moisturiser? If so, do you use the oil before or after a moisturiser? I've heard that nothing can sink in after an oil but it might depend on how well the oil is absorbed.

      I do :) I will use moisturizer first. And really make an effort to give each product a minute or so to sink in before applying the next. I always put oil last. Not much can get past the oil once you apply that.

    I used the drunk elephant oil and it's great. I'm currently using the ordinary rosehip oil and I like it (but not more than DE) Have you tried UFO from Sunday Riley?

    Where in your routine do you use your oil? I'm very oily but I think you've convinced me to try one. Thanks Melanie 😀

      @MrKongsMom  7 лет назад +1

      I use it at the very end and in the evening only. It's the last thing I apply before going to bed. I did do a recent evening skincare routine a couple weeks ago that might help :)

    Last comment, haha. I noticed you have the Marula oil that we got in our boxycharm a while back. I have yet to open mine. What's your opinion on it?

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  7 лет назад

      I like it a lot. Still using it frequently in rotation with all my other oils.

    Hi, new to using oils. I've started using cold pressed olive oil and noticed skin tightening and firmness. Also, gives my skin a hydrating look without any oiliness. As a photographer, I recommend the models use it.
    Is this oil better than olive oil? Have you ever used olive oil?

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  6 лет назад

      I don't use olive oil on my face. I don't care for the smell of olive oil so I would never use it on my body personally.

      I use quite a few different one's. Murad, Dr. Dennis Gross, Biossance, Tula. I also love squalane oil currently, more so than marula at this point in time.

    Hi. I've only just discovered Drunk Elephant products and your channel! I got the mini products to try. I have very oily skin. When you apply the marula oil, does your skin look oily? Mine does, even when I use it sparingly. Is that normal?

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  7 лет назад

      That's normal. It takes a while to sink into my skin, which is why I prefer it only at night. But it does eventually absorb into my skin.

      Photo aging is damage done by repeated exposure to UV rays. It's sun damage :(

    I'm really confused. there is an article on line by Paulas Choice that debunks 5 myths about using retinol and AHAS or vitimin C together. This article says the opposite of what you said. it goes into detail about the PH issues and everything and states that these products work great together, and increases the effectiveness of these products when combined. Thoughts??

      this ? is in response to your last video about what not to mix...

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  7 лет назад

      PC does have differing opinions on certain things. The info in that video is a collection of generalizations I found in the vast majority of blogs and different websites I read. I think something to keep in mind is if the ingredients are specifically formulated to work together in one product, then its probably safe. But I don't think in general most brands keep in mind that people may use several ingredients from across differing brands when formulating. Use together what works best for you. If you find your retinol and AHA work well together, use them. I play the better safe than sorry card because I use so many different things from different brands. I like to alternate evenings for products anyway so this works well for me.
