    I've had a good look at my car since then, got the air mass sensor out, coils and plugs. I did a test run if I could get the covers back on, that back part is the hardest to get right. I really love it when you can do it yourself, you only have youself to blame - you know you really want to get it right. Your hands will get dirty, but I bet you will look back at your car when it purs, and think, I saved a ton of money and I enjoyed that ride. I have done this inspired from this video. BTW mine is a 2005 SLK 350, Japanese import look AMG.

      👍 It's a pretty good car to work on... And I do love how high the hood opens makes it much easier to work on the engine... But Yes it is not worth taking this to a garage its pretty easy to work on when you know your way around it 👍

    nice video! This car is known to have a faulty conductor plate (class action lawsuit), I had to get mine changed out by Merc for $2500...
    On a side note, do you have a video on how to change out front grill merc emblem? Someone backed into my car and broke a side. Thanks

      I don't have anymore video on this car.... Its quite reliable 😳 sorry... But what's with the conductor plate you say?

    How did you know which coil terminal to attach the multimeter lead to?

    • @PXCBIKES
      @PXCBIKES  Год назад +1

      Coils have a primary winding and a secondary winding inside the primary receives the 12v dc from the battery then the secondary sends the voltage to create a spark to the spark plug... There are 3 pin coils and 4 pin coils each vehicle will have its own unique resistance specification... One pin will be pos and one negative... Usually you will find which pin to probe in the user manual and there you will find the correct resistance specification... If the resistance is high in Kohms then the connection inside is breaking down and will eventually break the circuit preventing the voltage to travel from one to another... The wiring usually indicates which pin to probe by its colour... Black is ground and red or white... Even blue will be positive

    Did the motor lamp (yellow) turn off after fixing this? Gr8 video

    • @PXCBIKES
      @PXCBIKES  2 года назад +1

      Erm you mean a fault warning light or engine management?... If so there wasn't a warning light....you usually will get a warning light with something electrical or an electrical assisted motor this was just the ignition coils that have no sensors attached to them

      @@PXCBIKES ok... my motor lamp is yellow now and The speed dial is going up and down when i drive. I connected a cpu and it said coil 1 problem. I bought spark plugs (4st) and going to change them. But u say it cant be that problem?

    • @PXCBIKES
      @PXCBIKES  2 года назад +2

      Ah if the coil is totally faulty yes you will feel rough idle and vibrations at idle ... if the coil is starting to go faulty then you most likely won't get an error code until it does ...the ecu will detect a misfire from that cylinder you are best to check the coils

      @@PXCBIKES should i replace all 4 sparkplugs first and then check the coils?

    What an excellent video. My 2005 SLK 350 does vibrate a little at idle, but I don't think the Tachometer fluctuates, at least not nearly as much as yours did. I replaced my spark plugs recently with genuine Mercedes, and the issue is still there. My car presently has 127,000 miles on it, and I was thinking what I was feeling were perhaps the engine mounts going bad, possibly they've leaked out their hydraulic fluid. But, after watching this video, I will first check my coil packs as you suggested, quite easily done. I've posted a video on how to check your Balance Shaft Sprocket for wear in ten minutes, perhaps you viewers might want to have a look. Thanks so much for this one! See: ruclips.net/video/G8HvZfxIjkw/видео.html

    • @PXCBIKES
      @PXCBIKES  3 года назад +1

      That's brilliant I will have a look at it.... The tachometer disen always have to move it just depends on how bad the coil is there is a primary coil which I test on this video and a secondary coil test.... If the car misfires at idle then its most likely to be the primer circuit and if it misfires under throttle then it's the secondary...
      The simptoms will start with a vibration at idle and as this gets worse eventually the tachometer will flutter 👍 hope this helps...

      Michael, my '05 SLK350 had the same vibration/shimmy you describe, the mechanic i see say its typical for these, the motor mount rubber hardens up. $750 later, it runs smooth as brand new - with 98K miles on it :)
