I purchased the Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in the Empreinte leather in the color Turtledove in March of 2021. Over the course of a year the lining on the bottom turned yellow and same with the additional pouch that it comes with. I went in person to the Scottsdale store and after the repair department inspected my bag they attempted to blame it on color transfer and asked me if I wore anything yellow. I declined because I do not own anything yellow in my wardrobe and then offered store credit. I ended up exchanging it for the black Neverfull but as I have so many other black bags I feel like I settled.
I bought a Palm Springs Mini from LV in October 2021 and used it maybe once…when I got it, I noticed the tabs on each side were different (one smooth and one crinkled), with one crooked as well. Unfortunately, once they assessed it, it couldn’t be fixed. Luckily they offered me another PSM that was in perfect condition. It sucks when it happens but it’s nice when stores make it right without giving you a hard time!
I got the Neverfull MM damier ebene and within 10 months I noticed the strap started peeling in one spot and there was creasing in the brown piping. This is from wearing the bag 2-3 times. I brought it to the store, initially she wanted to have it repaired for me, but later changed her mind and gave me a new one. Either way these quality issues shouldn’t happen my other neverfull lasted much longer without these problems.
LV Artsy canvas. I'd had it for years and the top started splitting. I took it in to see if it could be repaired. The manager immediately offered a full replacement and stated it was a known defect from the early releases and has since been corrected. I posted my results on Social Media. Great PR. This bag is soooo expensive for the materials it's made from. I would be livid if this happened to me. It's kind of shocking that they are gluing it in the first place at that price point.
You are definitely paying more for the name, experience, etc but, as far as the glue I like to think of it as using glue before nails in wood working. It’s like a safety measure/plan b and adds to the structure.

@@youreannoying I'm not sure that is the case for this particular bag, some definitely have intricate embroidery. This is not a knock on the bag itself, it's a stunning bag and been on my want list since it was released. Personally, I am happy to pay a premium for a bag I know my grandchildren can use if they want too because its made from quality materials with care.
My assumption is that she asked you about the summer usage as a way to gauge whether direct sun has discoloured or broken down the adhesive. This tells me, it is not the first bag that has come in with the same issues. So when you purchased the bag the seams were probably much tighter and as you have used it the seams have slowly separated and discoloured. It has most likely happened to many other bags, but given the light colour of yours it is far more noticeable. Most bags use glue as a strong adhesive before the sewing process, but those are leathers. The book tote is a thick canvas and unfortunately that bag had way too much glue. Honestly, I wouldn't buy one, not for that price point considering it is not leather.
She was definitely gaslighting you. 😒 I’m glad you are able to get a different bag! Where did you get the structured organizer that you placed in the bag? I would love to get one!
Every Luxury Store has "that" SA who feels like they own the company! I worked with one for 9 years and she would place blame to the customer all the time and it drove me nuts.
This is what happens when they cut cost and skip the lining. Seems like they didn’t think through this in the R&D stage. Exchanging it for something different is smart.
This is why I avoid luxury stores. I am literally here to spend $3000 on a satchel to carry my belongings around and your sales ppl are going to be rude and condescending to me? No thanks
I got a fendi Boston bag and after my second use of it the side stitching was coming undone, I took it in and my sa wasn’t there to help me so I was just being stonewalled. I went home and emailed him about my bad experience and he was able to sort it out for me. Some sa’s are just bad at customer service.
actually the stain she pointed out is also within the seam and it's the same color as the glue stain. It's probably the same oxidized glue used along the top seam as well which is seeping thru in some spots.
I bougth a second hand book tote - and it's seems fine so far. I also bought a new one few months ago, so now i am going to take a look all the time :) thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for posting this, Cindy! I bought the Dior Book Tote in the Toile de Jouy-pattern in light rosé a few weeks ago (my first luxury bag purchase since 2019); it's in the same size you have, the medium. Currently I'm waiting for my Samorga organiser to arrive, because, I, too want to make sure to keep the structure and protect the inside of the bag. I definitely will keep an eye out if this happens to my Book Tote, too; but I'm happy they at least offered you a new bag (the SA you spoke to first should have offered this immediately, since it's very obvious you didn't cause this stain!). I have a repair story, and funnily enough, it's from Dior, too; my second luxury bag I owned was the Lady Dior in black with silver hardware; back then this was my everyday bag, and I didn't use Twillys or Mitzahs for protecting the handles back then, so, since they rub against each other, the leather rubbed off, so I brought it in for a repair. So far, so good. It came back, and I took a first look at it when I was already at home: They accidentally put handles with light gold hardware on the bag 🤦🏻♀️😂! So now I had a Lady Dior with a silver zipper, a silver Dior-Charm, and light gold hardware at the handles. I couldn't go in the Boutique the next day, but two days later; they without questioning took the bag and sent it again back to repair, of course I wasn't charged anything for the exchange this time; the only problem was, that I had to wait again for the bag (which of course is more problematic if you only have two or three bags (my other two bags were white, and one of them the Dior Saddle, which I definitely didn't buy for regular use back then) than with a bigger bag collection. But everything turned out fine in the end 😊. 💞
I’ve seen this glue thing issue on another preloved book tote so this could happen to yours too and the glue stain can be seen on the exterior too and it was a dark bag so you can’t escape it no matter what Color I think
Thanks for sharing. I wouldn't accept a discrepancy like that with a department store handbag. So, it's HIGHLY unacceptable with a designer bag. All that money, the craftmanship should be flawless and built to last. Glad you'll be able to exchange it.
My Dior saddle bag’s stitching was off. As in the word Christian - the C was a whole level off the rest of the word. Dior head quarters sad there’s no issue. My SA took one look and swapped it for another one that was aligned 🤣
The glue oxidises during UV exposition, that's why she asked you for your usage. Yea, I love the design but I'm going for the dupe with this one, I've heard from my friends that the same happened to their bags.
Loved yours videos and all of you helpful informations. Sad to see these defect on such a beautiful bag. I’m just going through a nightmare with Louis Vuitton customer service on line. I order a speedy bandolier on line and received a rectangular empty box. When I contact them and show videos of the delivery guy coming into my house and pictures of the open box after I open it and tell them that there is no way a speedy can fix in this box . They just said to open a ups investigation and that they will do an internal investigation as well. Now I’m on the 3er two weeks open claims with ups and no resolutions yet.
similar experience with a long LV wallet I rarely wear. The broche was not closing and they wanted me to pay for the shipping to be repaired. I was disappointed as it was a defect in the item. I don't even wear it. I am discouraged to buy from LV again. Thank you for posting this video. I just got this tote as a gift and i hope it does not have any issue down the road. I love the animal patterns!
I recieved a Coach bag as a present but I noticed after about six months that all the seams were getting darker and sticky. It was the glue used to hold things together before sewing. I went to the store to ask what they could do, they asked where i got it from so I telephoned my friend and she said that she got it at a sample sale. End of story because the bag was maybe a sample the store refused to do anything!!
I bought this bag in the reverse pattern on a preloved website. It was discolored all around the top - so going darker is not the answer. At first, I was furious at the seller for taking such bad care of it and getting it so dirty, but now I think it was oxidation, too, as the bag had orange stains on the glue in the corners. I was fortunately able to protest to the platform and will be sending it back. I‘m not sure, if I will be buying another one now. Do I pay full price from the boutique to get the warranty, knowing it might still be defective? Do I buy an older preloved one, hoping that, if the color hasn’t turned after 2 years, it won’t? Or do I just accept that it’s a bad investment? I‘ve been lusting after this bag since it came out, so I‘m not sure. It’s just incredible to me that this could be an issue for a bag this expensive. Also hard to believe they weren’t able to solve this after several years of production. The defective preloved bag I got was made in March 2023…
LV Magentic Messenger! There’s cracks in the inside of my bag (the lining) that I RARELY use. LV said it’s normal, it is definitely NOT. Very disappointed with LV quality nowadays.
Hi! Do you think the bag organizer stretched the seams and exposed the glue? Something to think about so that you don’t encounter this again. So glad this worked out for you; you’re so very nice!
I have a question, my LV messenger bag was sent out for repair in August 2021. I still don’t have it back! The last email I received was February 2nd saying it was completed and headed back from Canada. My emails are being ignored and I’m losing patience! Any advice on what I should do? Who I should ask to talk to to get some answers?
The tote you have is cute and the color is prettier than the inverse version. The thing is if you exchange for the same bag whether is in this color or the inverse color it may still have the same issue in another 1-2 yrs. If they let you keep a store credit I would just get a bag vs the tote since others have had the same issue. It’s frustrating that the initial SA was not willing to assist or even ask the manager. Glad your SA came thru for you!
I have similar issue. I bought this burberry tote bag in outlet. I used it for travel in the plane and on our trip to San Diego. I noticed that the corners of the bag under were fading or turning white. It's only like 6 months ago. I didn't actually think that they would replace it considering it's an outlet store. I brought it in and ask for repair. Good thing i have the receipt emailed so they replace the bag. Though i received the same bag. Now, the bag is like 3 years with me and have the same issue. I think i should have asked for replacement of other bag than the tote bag that i bought because it will again have the same issue no matter how many times they replace it.
Ick. I was cringing throughout the story but glad you’re able to get it exchanged. It should’ve been an easier more straightforward process though. Thanks for sharing Cindy!
Okay, so I just ran in terror to check my book tote, which is grey toile de jouy. Luckily, it seems okay, and it's already over 2 years old. I'm hoping that means there was one production run where they got a bad batch of glue, and not every book tote will have this problem. I'm glad you were able to get yours exchanged; hopefully, as more people start coming in with the same issue, Dior will realize there was a problem with production and issue a recall, like LV did with the PM.
Merci. This is why I'm hesitant to buy light colour luxury bag. So I bought sandro book tote bag in black et pink. Dont worry. You aren't alone. I called dior enquiring if a stain on a lady dior bag. The staff pointed told me no.
I had the chain break on my Chanel boy bag. It was a horrible experience. They basically ended up saying it was my fault because I had been using the bag 🙈 ended paying for the repair that took nearly 6 months.
Such a shame it’s a beautiful bag. I love ❤️ you gentle spirit you handled it well. I am sure your not the only one with the defect. There needs to be training . An apology and a solution should be the first thing discussed.
I have a question Im hopeing you can help me with!!! I have a LV multicolored speedy 30 its white with the multicolored LVs and red is coming through on the front pocket. Is this something they can fix?? How do I go about getting it fixed? Please help!!!! Im so heartbroken i am so carefull with it!!!
What do you think about the all black lady D-Joy bag? (I’ve never owned a Dior bag and don’t know if they are worth investing in ) Would you prefer Chanel over Dior? Thank you and love your channel:)
I think it’s definitely made a difference that you talked to the SA you regularly shop with. Even the SA who sold it to you seemed to feel less responsible because you may not be as regular there, but your usual SA would try harder to maintain a good relationship with you. I also adore the the toile de jouy print and considered getting the book tote at one point. I’m glad I didn’t though, not only do I frequently see loose threads in brand new totes in store, this glue thing would have angered me a lot. The book totes are very expensive canvas bags! Personally i’d suggest exchanging for the reverse toile book tote for you, because ultimately you’d appreciate a darker more carefree bag, and learn to love it more. A new one in the same color would force you to have to worry about it all the time, about stains you cause and stains that are defects.
I had a defective Speedy 35 Bandouliere. One side was sewn smaller than the other. I got the run around but did not give up until it was sent off and repaired. Persistence paid off to get the resolution I felt was fair. But they do not make it easy.
A Van Cleef SA tried to sell me a defective vintage alhambra pendant worth almost 4k BRITISH POUNDS. When I noticed it has a defect on, she pretended she cannot see it (although it was so so obvious) , she was rude and acted like im being picky and have no idea how the pendant should look like although I already had couple of their alhambra products
I have the same book tote and ran to check mine under the organiser. Thankfully, no glue stains. But, though mine is in navy too, the canvas of mine is more of a dark beige whereas yours is a stark white. Now I’m confused hmmm
sorry you went through this Heated mess these bags cost so much there should be no problems also its all the messing about haveing to take the bag in.if it happens again take it back again😊xx
Lv are great for repair i have a impriente leather bag and the glazing melted and its like 3 years old bag and they replace it plus the price increase they are not producing that style anymore so they just let me pick a new one, uts the speedy 20 in impriente leather that have outside pocket and its beautiful, love it so much!
So glad your SA is helping you exchange it. Unfortunately I had the same customer service you had when you first tried to exchange your bag. For luxury items and poor service is just not ideal for me. Had to stray away from Dior since that experience. I hope your future items work out for you! Love the raw and honest content❤️
I have a Dior pink floral satchel bag from long time ago, the glue problem showed up a year or two after I purchased it and the yellow glue stain are outside. I guess , they still use the same glue after 10 plus years.
I don't see that in my book tote but mine is darker and the canvas is so thick I can't open it enough to check the seam anyway. It looks as if too much glue was applied to yours.
My limited edition book tote is doing the same thing and dior tells me its normal wear and tear. I wld have left the whole situation alone if they didn’t imply my bag was a counterfeit. I had the bag for exactly 2 years and barely used it. They told me i should have seek them out to know how to care for my bag. I’m like so… oxidation of the glue is my fault?
That’s not a stand there lol. Looks like the glue heated up, and melted through the top layer as well, then oxidized as it was exposed to sunlight (doesn’t have to be 100° weather and direct sunlight, this will happen even in a box lol). “Did you use it in the summer” aka, “We’ve had dozens come in after the summer with the same issue because we don’t know how to apply glue, we don’t know how to toss expired glues, and we don’t know how to switch adhesives”.
So what is the name of the Miami boutique you are talking about because I was looking online for that same bag that I seen for cheap in a boutique in Florida
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sorry this happened to your tote, but have you considered possibly using museum conservation techniques to lighten the staining of the glue? There are step by step instructions online that might work if your new tote does the same thing. It's such a gorgeous tote in that colourway. I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide.
Wow, that is for sure a defect. I’m sorry that one woman was giving you a hard time but glad your actual SA was helpful. I agree I like this color way much better than the reverse darker colored one. I would say if you’re going to keep the organizer in it and you don’t plan to sell it, I would get the same one if you love it :) maybe you will have better luck? Who knows lol.
I am so late to this (just found you!) but I actually work in supply chain (making abrasive material such as sandpaper, etc.) & we have experienced issues with glue from multiple suppliers within the last few years turning colors & not adhering property & falling off when in use. Have had to do quality inspections and returns multiple times. The issue I see happening here with these bags is that quality inspection would miss this upon initial inspection before they ship them out, due to the glue oxidizing over time and not initially. I’d hope for the cost they would have asked you for your serial/mfr number and tracked where the bag was glued and who that glue was from, so that they don’t use that supplier. However, this issue isn’t happening with the same suppliers every time, either. With allllll that being said, I’d go with a darker bag. There is at least a 25% chance of this happening again with your next bag, unless stringent steps have been taken at the dior manufacturing facility…
First off- glad you were able to get it resolved and your CA was able to come through for you, Kudos! But, initially I thought it was from your organizer given that it was in the seams as well as the side paneling, and the same color as your insert. Also, the dark shade slightly looks like mold but as you said it was most likely oxidation. Either way, glad they’re squaring you away. I feel some of the CAs do try to deter you from getting a free repair as though they think it’s typically your fault through neglect, and it’s never a defect from the Company. TFS!
A bad client experience can completely sever the loyalty between client and brand. Since it was clearly a manufacturing defect they should have repaired it or replaced it for you. Bad word of mouth is even worse for a brand and they will lose more customers...
Cindy it sounds like SA #1 Just didn’t want to help you! I think it is serious and I would have been really upset with this issue. I’m so glad your getting a new one!!! Happy Ending!!!
I'm seeing a lot of defective bags and it seems the quality is dropping across many designers. I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about Louis Vuitton.
I heard the LV neverfull in the turtledove empriente leather does that too....have the oxidized glue discoloring the bag. Makes me stray away from getting something in the turtledove in case all bags have that issue but won't see it until a while later.....and not sure which SA or CA we would interact with
I agree with you; the other SA wasn’t giving good customer service. She shouldn’t have tried to blame you for manufacturing defects. Do you know if LV purchased in Hawaii is the same as Dior’s “final sale?” I bought the Damier men’s passport holder and I started to noticed the canvas feels sticky. I haven’t used it much except one trip end of Feb 2020. My other canvas Sarah wallet I bought the same trip doesn’t feel like this. I am wondering if they’ll give me issues for the canvas feeling the way it does? I keep it in the dust bag, outside of the cardboard box. I don’t even store my passport book inside it.
I truly understand you... I had that on my Valentino Bag that I also barely use coz' I am taking good care of it.. . Like all over the top lining inside my bag has it. Very unfortunate though.
I’ve owned several items that were defective, all Louis Vuitton. I was only given trouble for one item at which time I simply argued a little longer and got my way. I don’t know where these people get off on arguing with the customer concerning manufacturers defects. By the way I just went to check my Dior book tote and thankfully it does not have the oxidize glue issue. I already regret purchasing this bag as it’s not useful for me at all. That would’ve been the icing on the cake lol!
Not related to luxury per se, but if I get an answer I’m not happy with, I return on another date and speak with someones else. The issue has always been resolved. It’s like a test to see if you’re determined enough. 😆
Do you think the organizer being in there somehow contributed to this? Also I think you should get the exact same bag. If it happens ago oh well. I mean you have an organizer so you won’t ever see it.
I have an LV VAP men's jacket in white , like a race car driver jacket with LV logos all over, and on the sleeves where the velcro straps are, there was the same yellow stains along the seems. It was clearly the adhesive used, but with VAP, it is final sale. So just had to take it to a tailor to get them fully removed.
For me the worst issue is patent leather that is not black turning colors. This happens all the time, for Dior and Dolce and LV...it comes from the inconsistent heat/cold around the bags when they are stored.
I was recently lucky enough to have bought the green illusion mini keepall charm from Louis Vuitton. And not a week after using it, I got a small peel in the corner. Unfortunately my ca let me know it couldn’t be repaired or exchanged since it was sold out. I was able to get a refund and a few weeks later it was available again but I have been to afraid the peeling issue will happen again. Best of luck to whatever you decide to do with your defect tote 🤞

Where did you get the structured organizer that you placed in the bag? I would love to get one!
Samorga makes them :)
That was poorly handled! LV repaired a few of defective bags for me at no cost and pochette metis was replaced.
actually the stain she pointed out is also within the seam and it's the same color as the glue stain.
I am pleased you got it sorted! It one of the benefits of seeing the same Client Advisor x
The bag is sooo pretty with that design so do try to get one with that design on it. Hopefully they have addressed the issue since then 💕
My Dior saddle bag’s stitching was off. As in the word Christian - the C was a whole level off the rest of the word. Dior head quarters sad there’s no issue. My SA took one look and swapped it for another one that was aligned 🤣
I have a Dior bag and my strap that I’ve purchased had the same issue. It was also purchased around 2020. My SA managed to replace the strap for me.
Omg the yellow glue 😦😦😦
Glad you are getting this resolved 🙂
they came out with a brown/black now its gorgeous!
similar experience with a long LV wallet I rarely wear.
Im wondering if it could be the oxidized glue used to put the 3rd party liner together
Gorgeous bag, sorry you had to go through that, the representative doesn’t sound like she excels at customer service, but glad the issue was resolved
So glad this worked out for you; you’re so very nice!
no
I have a question, my LV messenger bag was sent out for repair in August 2021.
The quality of designer bags have definitely gone downhill. Glad your client advisor was able to accommodate you on exchanging for another tote.
Wow! Same staining on my YSL Rouge tote!! Same area too!
Omg i have the same bag! I have to check if i have the stain too!
Makes me glad I never got one. Glad you were able to get some response
Now I have to go check my gray one that I got in March of 2020! I am considering the new small size and am highly considering a dark color
I really hate it when the associates interrogate you.
I think it’s definitely made a difference that you talked to the SA you regularly
shop with.
How is it now? Do you got the new bag as replacement?
I have the same book tote and ran to check mine under the organiser. Thankfully, no glue stains. But, though mine is in navy too, the canvas of mine is more of a dark beige whereas yours is a stark white. Now I’m confused hmmm
Omg. I should check my book tote lol
Glad they’ll replace it for you.
sorry you went through this Heated mess these bags cost so much there should be no problems also its all the messing about haveing to take the bag in.if it happens again take it back again😊xx
Hm 🤔 I should check mine too. I have the same one. Thanks for sharing this video/ information.
Your so calm while talking to that SA. Nice one.
My LV bag was cracked after owning it for a year. They took it back immediately. No problem. Sorry this happened to you.
I like the reverse one just because I know i won’t be able to keep the white one in pristine condition. I’ll buy bags to use and enjoy.
Thank you so much for this review it's very helpful! You said Dior goes on sale, can you clarify that a bit?
Did you check your grey bag? Any issues with that one?
The blue is beautiful, you should get the same bag again.
Why are you wearing bags in the summer🤭🤔🤭🤔 that was such a crazy question. Love your videos🥰
How dare I use a summer bag from the summer collection during the summer 😤🤪
The mention of water bottles reminded me of the Prada water bottle drama lol people are so weird getting upset over water bottles lol
From what I've heard, the quality of many designer bags is declining although the prices are not reflective of that reality.
Isnt it frustrating that we have to justify our right to own a none defective bag??
Do returns get deducted from commission?
First off- glad you were able to get it resolved and your CA was able to come through for you, Kudos! But, initially I thought it was from your organizer given that it was in the seams as well as the side paneling, and the same color as your insert. Also, the dark shade slightly looks like mold but as you said it was most likely oxidation. Either way, glad they’re squaring you away. I feel some of the CAs do try to deter you from getting a free repair as though they think it’s typically your fault through neglect, and it’s never a defect from the Company. TFS!
Do you know if this has happened with the saddle bag with this print
A bad client experience can completely sever the loyalty between client and brand. Since it was clearly a manufacturing defect they should have repaired it or replaced it for you. Bad word of mouth is even worse for a brand and they will lose more customers...
Exactly ! Especially at that price point… smh
I'm assuming you went to the design district Dior since it was in Miami? Good to know to ignore that place 👀
I ran to check my book tote immediately after I read the caption of this video…
I have an LV VAP men's jacket in white , like a race car driver jacket with LV logos all over, and on the sleeves where the velcro straps are, there was the same yellow stains along the seems. It was clearly the adhesive used, but with VAP, it is final sale. So just had to take it to a tailor to get them fully removed.
I feel that was very poor customer service. I’m glad your SA was able to assist. I was wondering what kind of purse organizer that is that you use.
For me the worst issue is patent leather that is not black turning colors. This happens all the time, for Dior and Dolce and LV...it comes from the inconsistent heat/cold around the bags when they are stored.
I would be so livid by that SA. Those bags are 3k. I love my red Toile de Jouy and wear it a lot. I would've rose hell.
