Went to this place presented in the documentary "El Patio de la Egrem" almost accidentally, the first night of my stay in Havana and oh my God!!! I love Rumba, I love Cuban people, there's something in the music and the way they dance that doesn't let you take your eye off of them.
As Jazz enthusiastic, I wanna start playing salsa or afro-cuban music. I was just like 'Okay i would study 'son' ,after that i would move on,' But end up researching deeper and deeper into more cuban folkloric and religion music, I can't believe how VAST and DEEP it has to offer. By starting to study son, and keep digging deeper, found 'changui', 'kiriba','nengon' and 'rumba', Next is Abakua. Cuba is truly a nirvana for music lover. I so fkign love these episodes.
Very good these are roots of salsa, the danza of migrants of working class that others wants to hide, but it must tell our story and we must accept that the first woman found in escalation in Africa was Lucy and we must not ashamed of who we are and where we are going to.
LOVE RUMBAS!!!! Love soloing the quinto to make everybody CRAZY of exactment. I'm Dominican learned in Puerto Rico and perfected it in Miami con mi ambia. What a beautiful way to celebrate life. Soy un mulato como la Salsa.
Just learned about this in a jazz forum class for my concentration in university. Now I am addicted lol
