    This has been your best video yet. You’re a wonderful, mature and kind human being. You have been the biggest help in my ED recovery and thanks to you I’m 7 recovery periods in and I’m finally myself again, living my life and enjoying moments with friends. It’s amazing to see how much you matured and changed. You’re a beautiful butterfly and I’ve been feeling that you want to move on with your life and start doing something new. Even though you’ve helped immensely so many people, I think you owe it to yourself to go another path. You will do great in anything you’ll set yourself up for. Good luck Alice ☺️❤️

      LA girl thank you, but I recently have stopped watching recovery channels and listening to recovery podcasts (besides a few that I feel sentimental about, like Alice). Similarly to Alice, I feel like I need to move away from the recovery content as this is no longer my reality. Now suddenly there’s so much more to do in my life than think about food and my body!
      I wish you good luck with your recovery. It takes so much energy both physically and mentally. I wish you all the best 💚

    I love how clearly you break down the shifts that happened over the years.
    If you're sick of talking about recovery, maybe you'd consider doing some videos with a slightly different angle, talking about anxiety and that obsessive (or food-obsessed) mindset and how it can change? I'm a year into my recovery right now and still relate to the anxiety and hyperfocus on food so much.
    Also, where can I find the private FB support group? The link in the description just leads to your personal page...

    My interest in recovery topics remained high for as long as I was still disordered. The topic also does not interest me as much anymore and maybe it's because I've stopped restricting and stopped thinking about food so much. Sometimes I wonder if people still create this kind of content because they're personally still recovering like you can just see that maybe they still have disordered eating in their lives by creating eating challenges for themselves. It sounds like you're totally recovered as you've mentioned and set to move on. I'm happy for you and I hope you feel that you can talk about anything else too.

I am active in recovery and I have watched a handful of your videos when ever I felt even an ounce of a trigger after a meal, to keep me grounded and knowing I'm in the right direction! Everywhere I go, I'm plant based Trippin! Also, combine your loves! Take what inspires you of your life and journey, and create art from this!!! Maybe it'll carry this plant based abundance eating message into art! Maybe it'll carry fasion inspired art! Maybe you can help others with art! The things you believe in, that call to your spirit, make art of this!! Do what calls to you :)

    hey Alice, I think it would be a shame if you didn't do some kind of work in this industry. You could maybe incorporate the two by helping women to love themselves through their recoveries by teaching them how to look after themselves, (e.g. how to dress well regardless of their weight and how to focus on their passions instead of calorie counting). I guess most women hide out during their recoveries, which is really sad. I'm really interested in your story. I'll be studying nutritional science over the next 4 years and I would ultimately love to help stop the calorie restriction (yo yo dieting) mentality and change this so people think more in terms of long term sustainable weight loss over years instead of months (by eating in a "calorie surplus"... according to calorie counters). Your story has really inspired me to want to focus on this area and it provides great anecdotal evidence. I don't think there's too much research out there in this area...

    In regards to your changes to your macros.. Do you think a high carb approach (80/20) is still essential for recovery? I have come from a high protein plant based calorie restriction diet (for body building comp) and am now currently going though the recovery / overshoot weight phase. I have been allowing myself to eat between 2500-3000 cals of a balance of all three macros... do you think I should try to reduce protein and fat to help
    My body recover and weight to settle down again?

    hi! you are really inspiring. a main question I have is if you had legitimate intolerance when trying to recover? I have reactions to random food I used to be able to eat that have ended me up in the ER making the recovery process I want to start even more scary and challenging. if so, how did you navigate this?

  • @eveeexx

    If I'm not going to overshoot my set point by eating a lot but still eating the amount of food that my body enquires by intuitive eating, I'll be gaining weight and I can also go back to my set point? Or it would be just like a side effect of ending a diet? (Just gaining weight)

    Does the four years include the time when you relapsed? I remember you mentioning in a video that you dieted again and lost weight only to gain even more the next time. Was this part of the 4 years or is the 4 years just the second time?

    I've never heard an ED recovery advocate talk so much about weight loss

  • @vv1323
    @vv1323 4 года назад +3

    Hey Alice I like your content and I know you mean well, but telling others your weight loss didn't come from a deficit is simply not true. Goes against the laws of thermodynamics. That's like those people saying they gained weight because they "didn't eat enough.".. no. Calories = units of energy. If not used, they get stored. Fat doesn't come from the abscess of energy. You either ate less than 2.4k or are more active than you think you are to burn about that in a day. I remember in a recent video you said you switched to a more active job so that could definitely be it. Just wanted to clear that up as lately I see a lot of misinformation in ED recovery channels (despite it coming from a good place). Edit: To clarify... girls with EDs or extreme dieting histories SHOULD be eating more and healing their bodies/relationship with food BUT they should also be properly informed about it so as not to set themselves up for a future relapse.

    • @alicewatts
      @alicewatts  4 года назад +1

      Hey :) Yes, calories do matter but for the past 4 years I have been eating eating a bare minimum of a net of 2400 calories. So if I burn 400 calories, I will eat a bare minimum of 2800 calories. I increased my metabolism dramatically through my recovery. But yes, calories do matter! If I ate 5,000 calories a day now, I would gain weight at this point. However, my body maintains on a dramatically higher amount of calories than it used to. When I was dieting, at this same weight, I was eating 1500 calories a day. Now, when I am working an active job, I need to eat ~3,500 calories a day to maintain my current weight. ruclips.net/video/VNC2pqPm6Wg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/rnYMlzNv5K4/видео.html

    • @vv1323
      @vv1323 4 года назад

      @@TT-sp5st Sorry, doesn't work that way. It's factually incorrect. It is always calories in, calories out. Where does the rest of the unused energy go? Bodies will absorb the necessary nutrients and the rest is either expelled or stored as fat. You're either grossly overestimating your calories in, "eyeballing" your meals, or are more active than you think. There is no disagreeing with science, it's not an opinion piece. I'm all for people eating however much they want, especially those with an ED background, but I would never do it dishonestly.

    • @ivanalol7512
      @ivanalol7512 4 года назад

      @@vv1323 @VV I don't agree it's just "calories in vs. calories out" - every calorie gets used differently by the body. Say, for example, half an avocado vs. a bar of chocolate. Both may have the same amount of calories but the body uses the healthy fats from the avocado very differently than the saturated fats of the chocolate (nothing wrong with chocolate though!). Now you may say the law of thermodynamics is indisputable because it's science, but what really makes science SCIENCE is that it's falsifiable (see theory of falsification by Karl Popper). Not to mention the fact, that especially in nutritional sciences there have always been a lot of misconceptions (see the theory on cholesterol and how eggs are "bad" for your health - though they don't actually influence the cholesterol in your blood).

    • @vv1323
      @vv1323 4 года назад

      @@ivanalol7512 girl... we’re talking about weight loss. You can eat your weight in either avocados or chocolate, and it will still cause weight gain if in a surplus. Sure the avocado is more filling, but if the body doesn’t use the energy, it gets stored as fat. That’s indisputable.

    • @ivanalol7512
      @ivanalol7512 4 года назад

      @@vv1323 there's no need to get hostile, "girl", maybe you should work on your discussion skills. If I were to eat the amount of calories in 30 chocolate bars in form of tomatoes, I would not gain the same amount. The body simply breaks down nutrients differently. If all this was just plain energy, there would be no such thing as macronutrients.

    Yeah, you can tell you lost a whole lot more weight than a couple years ago, when you were around 137, and I was reading how a lot of people saw you on Instragram and thought you were restricting again....uh, are you sure that you're not going back to your old ways? Ya kinda look like you are...just sayin'...
