SJ is an assh ole. He once implied that Arsenal's lack of trophies, good performances during the late Wenger's eras was somehow due to the rise of the AFTV and its fans as if those people had some say in the running of the club. However he can say the similar thing about Spurs.

Souey talking about the dressing rooms he was in is irrelevant. For two reasons. 1) his dressing rooms were never the Tottenham in this equation. They were the Manchester City. So he does not have that same direct experience he alludes to. 2) The world has massively change since Souey retired. It was possible in the 80s and even 90s for players to be largely ignorant of what fans thought beyond the atmosphere in the stadium. Now with social media, with 24 hour sports news it is almost impossible that those Spurs players are not hearing their own fanbase say "please do not win this game." It's okay while the game is 0-0 or if Spurs get in front but I promise you if City score first there will be players on that pitch for Spurs who feel a sense of relief at that and their desire to press for an equaliser will not be what it would have been if this game was 6-8 weeks ago. That is just the reality of the world we are in. Keown was right.

The fans, yes, woudl not want it. But Ange didnt' grow up a Tottenham fan, did he? Did Son? or Van der Ven or Richarlison? It won't mean much to them. Souness is right, players are professionals and it's a job. people in any job generally want to do it well, if not only for the money.

As an Arsenal Fan I must be somewhat odd.For myself, just as long as Arsenal beat Tottenham and finish higher in the League that is enough.I am not anti Spurs or any other Team for that matter.Interestingly, over the years, several of the players have had very good Friends in the opposing camp.Hoddle and Graham Rix come readily to mind for one. Interestingly I thought that Manchester United were trying against Arsenal Yesterday.Particularly so when looking at their recent performances. What is the difference then between them and City viz a viz the two London Clubs.

Simon wont dare speak about Keown this way if he was in the studio.... An Article he wrote 18months ago has nothing to do with Spurs lacking ambitions of their own.
Chelsea players and fans also dont want Arsenal to win the league but they still gave a proud account of themselves against City in both legs.
Everton dont want Liverpool to win the title but they played their best game for about 75mins against City and Arsenal this season.
Even United despite their poor state and not really being in a top4 race anymore gave Arsenal a strong game last night.
The conversation about downing tools was never had by the players or fans of any of these clubs, especially when you have the possibility of getting CL football . I think that is Simon's point.

I have to disagree a bit with Simon and even more so with Graeme. I think the latter sometimes forgets that the players of his day were actual warriors who fought tooth and nail for every point. This generation of footballers are diva types who, whilst being competitive in their own right, are also dealing with the lifestyles of modern footballers. It simply doesn’t mean as much to players these days, especially considering the influx of players to whom local derbies and historic rivalries are meaningless. Which of the Spurs players actually HATES Arsenal? Skipp? That’s about it. Also, I do agree with Simon that the ownership and a number of the players will care more about winning than preventing Arsenal from winning the league, but to use that to undermine Martin’s point, someone who actually lived the NLD for decades, is odd. Far too many Spurs fans care more about Arsenal than their own club. Their measure of success is Arsenal’s failures because they have no success of their own to celebrate. Spurs could be in a UCL final but would be more worried about Arsenal finishing 4th. That’s their mentality. Small club and pitiful inferiority complex

    In 2016 european championship
Italy let ireland beat them so irish fans would support the italians playing spain in next round
Ireland beat italy in last minute
Italians let ireland beat them, so irish fans would support italy against spain, as spain had the hoodoo over italy at the time
So such things like teams doing things in there interests, does happen, even today
After that game, italian players were celebrating with irish team, as like i said italians wanted the irish fans to back them playing spain, as spain had the hoodoo over italy at the time.
Just told you something none of you know, to prove souness wrong, when he says teams do not work out ways to get what they want even if it means losing themselves.

In all honesty Arsenal should have beaten Villa. Then they wouldn't be in this predicament. It is all being well analysing Spurs' stance on this, from players to the fans. But Arsenal fans and players should not be relying on Spurs doing them any favours as much as Spurs fans should not be worried if they manage to beat City tomorrow. If City win, Arsenal have themselves to blame a few weeks ago against Emery and co.

Keown shouldn’t confuse the fans with the club. There’s no doubt every Spurs fan would rather lose to City to ensure Arsenal don’t win the league. However Ange and the team will certainly want to give a good account of themselves and if there’s a chance of finishing 4th they would definitely take it because of the riches the CL brings and the opportunity to sign better players too. I’m sure Daniel Levy would agree too.
