Nice but not the best. That title still belongs to Barbara Dickson who, at the request of Rice and Lloyd Webber, was the first person to sing this on the Evita concept album and had a big hit with it in the UK in 1977.
I'm her fan but no :( christine for me has always been someone fragile and innocent, Sam on the other hand, is strong and mature (just like eponine). So a bit later, possibly Fantine, but no Christine.
In terms of British musical theatre, I would love to see Sam on stage with Kerry Ellis and Ruthie Henshall. Unfortunately, the chances of it ever happening are remote at best. Before anyone says about Idina Menzel, Lea Salonga and Sierra Boggess, note that I said British. We also have others who are very good as well, but IMO those are the top three.
Saw Les Mis yesterday in London and Carrie hope Fletcher who played Eponine stole the show for me. She was brilliant easily the second best Eponine I have ever seen and heard and I have seen the show over 30 times now.
Samantha needs to land that role that will cement her as THE performer for a role. She is so frickin talented, but she is still compared to those that came before her.
I don't expect my love affairs to last for long Never fool myself that my dreams will come true Being used to trouble I anticipate it But all the same I hate it, wouldn't you? So what happens now? (Another suitcase in another hall) So what happens now? (Take your picture off another wall) Where am I going to? (You'll get by, you always have before) Where am I going to? Time and time again I've said that I don't care That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through But every time it matters all my words desert me So anyone can hurt me and they do So what happens now? (Another suitcase in another hall) So what happens now? (Take your picture off another wall) Where am I going to? (You'll get by, you always have before) Where am I going to? Call in three months time and I'll be fine, I know Well, maybe not that fine, but I'll survive anyhow I won't recall the names and places of each sad occasion But that's no consolation here and now So what happens now? (Another suitcase in another hall) So what happens now? (Take your picture off another wall) Where am I going to? (You'll get by, you always have before) Where am I going to? (Don't ask anymore)
If you read Les Miserables in full, you will find as well as Eponine being the Thenardier's child, the boy Gavroche is also a brat of the Thenardier's.
No, Alice was correct. Eponine is the Thenardier's daughter. Cosette is Fantaine's daughter, but she was staying with the Thenardiers until Jean Valjean adopted her.
I wonder if she knows Manx Gaelic - it might be interesting hearing her singing a song in her native language! In the interests of fairness, it would also be interesting to hear Nerina Pallot sing in Jèrriais (Jersey-Norman French) and Katie Melua sing in Georgian.
Samantha Barks is another in my list of female professional singers I've heard sing any song from Evita better than Madonna, which is every single one. IMO she was even upstaged in the movie by the few lines Andrea Corr had in "Hello and Goodbye/Another suitcase in another hall (Reprise)".
Actually I think Eponine won in the end yes she dead but I've always thought Eponine deserved better then Marius. I've always thought Marius was a bit on the pathetic side TBH.
Jealous of what? Eponine died (sad face) and Cossette married Marius, I think if there was a winner between the it was Cossette, although I am defo Team Eponine
ANYONE can sing better than Madonna.
Wow.....what a voice! Her gentleness is addictive!
She sang this so beautifully. Best rendition ♥️

Love this rendition too! Samantha Barks can sing anything ❤️
A truly beautiful voice, and I think it's high time for her to be christine.
I'm her fan but no :( christine for me has always been someone fragile and innocent, Sam on the other hand, is strong and mature (just like eponine). So a bit later, possibly Fantine, but no Christine.
This is a beautiful rendition of this song. This has always been my favorite Evita song!
this is my favorite song from Evita. I'm so happy she chose it!
Omg she's a natural. Flawless voice!
What a beguiling and heartfelt song.
She has a sad sound. A perfect song.
Love her voice.
Oh man Sam singing Evita..... I could not ask for a better combo.... She is so lovely.
So beautifully sang, what a talent.
And now she’s playing Elsa in the West End and getting well deserved standing ovations.
so vulnerable and breakable, marvollous.

She is my idol :')
I'm sure at least 50% of the views of this video are mine omg
We're watching Evita in Spanish class. I didn't realize the meaning of this song till I watched in the movie, it's a rather sad song.

What's not to love ✌️
Saw Samantha in Frozen late last year in London, wonderful singing but so-so actress as Elsa.
Sam is amazing

I would love to hear her sing Sadie patty’s in the name of the lord
Wonderful
I don't know the song but hearing Sammy's stunning voice is enough xx
Sam is amazing!!!!! I love her!
ahhh sammy

SAM CAN REALLY SING.
She has an amazing voice. The only negative point I can find on the net about her is that a lot of people think she is way too skinny.
TEAM EPONINE BUDDIES :D
I really like Ohringer from the broadway cast.
Wow, she sings better than Madonna
Doesn't take all that much IMHO
Not at all
I'd Do Anything.... To meet her O_O

Barbara Dickson sings a beautiful version of this song
:)
Apparently Cosette also found out about the video, there is one dislike more and we all know how jealous women can be...
Okay, shows how much I know about Les Miserables!
fantastic - now go listen to Wicked's ' I'm Not That Girl ' ............. Ab Fab
I see what you did there ;) XD
Barbara Dickson did it perfectly, so just leave it.
Jealous cause Eponine got her own solo, while Cosette had to sing in duets. Lol. Idk why.
This song is why Andrew didn't endorse Madonna for the movie role.
Jealous of what? Eponine died (sad face) and Cossette married Marius, I think if there was a winner between the it was Cossette, although I am defo Team Eponine
she's probably jealous because everyone cared and felt more sorry for Eponine then her, LOL!
ウェストが細っ
don't listen to Barbara Dixon first !
SAMANTHA BARKS. that is all. im out.
Sam is amazing
