i'm pretty happy with this random recommendation. pretty neat to see the lock system instantly latch once the tension on the cable is broken. is this a permanent installation, or a well designed temporary addition? currently it looks like the control box cable is at risk of being pinched, will there be a guard for it?
It’s permanent. Made it for my Grandparents since they’re starting to have trouble getting down the stairs. My dad and I will eventually fully enclose it and change to controls to a more traditional elevator setup.
The safest elevator on youtube has a huge unguarded pinch point between the floor of the elevator and the balcony, and several dozen other smaller pinch points. So I guess it is safe because the the condition that could kill you once in a thousand uses has redundant safety, somehow that will keep you safe from the hazard that could kill you every time the elevator is used.
We will add a door and enclose the whole thing before it sees regular use. I just thought it would be easier to see the safety mechanisms work without a back panel covering them. The other DIY elevators I’ve seen have just as many if not more pinch points. So I stand by it.
Fall protection is Orwellian new-speak for "retard-safe" ; fun fact, you can design a better system, but they will always design a better idiot. The reality is, some people should not be allowed near certain mechanical systems, - unless they wish certain death. I'm not complaining that I am not an astronaut, and probably never will be, nor do I think we should accommodate people like myself who aren't Neil Armstrong's or Yuri Gagarin's. I think what you created is brilliant, but I do not think that our focus should be on "safety", because we are at the point of overkill in the 2020's. You should just call this a badass way of making a DIY elevator. Sorry for the comment, God bless you 🙏🏻
@@nolongersadman he said some people shouldn't be allowed near certain mechanical systems unless they wish certain death? Weird that he chose to be around a certain mechanical system that he should not have been 😂🤦🏻♂️
Came here looking for the second safest DIY elevator on RUclips, but I'm happy with this.
Now I want a how-to video please!! 😃🙏 Great job!

Someone, who said similar things, ended up inside an imploded submarine deep underwater
