- Late on Saturday 16 March 2024, Niger’s military junta announced that it has ended an accord with the US that allowed military personnel and civilian staff from the US Department of Defense to operate in Niger. This announcement came days after Niger held high-level talks with US diplomatic and military officials last week.

As a German I ever wondered where all our aid goes in african countries. We have been giving money for decades yet nothing changes in terms of prosperity. When you see videos you don't even see western farming equipment that would help them while on the flipside there are mines for metals even uranium all over africa.
So I hope african countries keep that up and free themselves from all these influences so they can finally decide for themselves.
Unfortunately most Europeans and Americans are not aware of what their countries are really doing in Africa. Since they control the media they tell you what you want to hear. We in Africa know that we are not free, far from it. Hopefully one day people will care, those migrants coming to Europe and America should tell you something is seriously wrong, it's not just corruption of the leaders, our continent is owned in every way by Europe and America.
The money goes back to your leaders and divided amongst them and our corrupt African leaders.. the funds never serve the purpose they were ment for.. after we are expected to pay debt of money we never seen with no improvements in life's.. worst of all we vote yearly but no change which is a clear sign of western interference which we still hope that you as Europe tax payers you will help us end this money laundering scheme..

This airbase wasn't aid, though. I guess lots of the money ends up with corrupt politicians. A lot of it is wasted. Little is used towards making things better.

As for "U.S. investments;" American citizens could have used that money to clean-up polluted water supples and providing affordable health care.
One piece of the information that's missing here is the fact that the United States forced Niger a poor country to pay 400 million dollars annual fee for the maintenance of the American base.

The "good" collective west is financing and supporting instability to ensure continued free access to resources without paying for them. The talk of colonisation, debt trap by these colonial countries is meant to deflect from those who have/are actually colonising and debt trapping Africa

My home country Somalia really needs to reconsider our military base partnership with America...17 yrs of fighting with radical Islamist group al shabab and we haven't gotten anywhere. Many of us starting believe that its not in America's interest to finish wars but to continue it at expense of hosting country.
