Yet another gem i discovered thanks to this channel. I like the variety between races in this game. Completed a campaign with gnomes, now trying necromancers
shitty game tbh. doesn't even have hotkeys. also necromancers and most of their minions are vulnerable to to sun, but they don't get inside before sun rises automatically. so they die outside or you have to manually get them outside (taking them away from their task, manually controlling the group) etc. i wish they didn't do version number 1.0. then we could just say "it is not even released yet" etc.
2:10:10 nah Nook, the quarters aren't bugged. The "recruitable" units that need a personal quarter are already recruited. You just need to click the room and assign it to your highest level minions. It allows them to go past that set limit.
@imvarda no worries. It seems to be from 1.0 beta that iron can be found above the ground layer quickly. Generally speaking you can only go 2 or 3 layers up before it's not worth it. Does allow for interesting base building.
I picked this game up fairly recently. I did the tutorial and then immediately picked Undead. I died in the sun. I started again. Died to randomly getting beheaded. Also, didn't realise the value of metal working until too late. Started *again*. Got too ambitious and attacked like three maps in one night, three nights in a row. (I never bother with Darkness. It's not that hard, with wolf mounts, to be back home before sunrise. And in your home map, you can just mark important outdoor spots as "indoors". Even with no walls, it will protect you from the sun.) Promptly got wrecked when three major villains dropped on me back to back while my dedicated ass kicker squad was in bad shape. On my fourth attempt now. Things are going pretty good. So far I've crushed everything that stands before me- though getting Infernite was very tedious. I have a dedicated squad of veteran multiheaded vampire warrior riding dragons or slashers- both of which optimised for murder. Tried a Skeleton king. I actually hate it. Mine flies and has like thirty legs, but if one of it's legs get's lopped off it crumbles. Same with it's torso- enemy would normally do no damage, but a lucky torso shot and it dies instantly. I mean, it does hit like a truck and most strikes plink off of it, but you're always one lucky strike from loosing hours of limb gathering... I managed to free some elves from dwarven prison. Despite the fact that I have genocided every elf village I've encountered up to this point, they joined me- just as well, really. They are super murdery with enchanted archwood bows. Absurdly so, in fact- being able to shoot around allies makes them increadible in open field battles, and useful in dungeons with straight hallways. Unlike the standard keeper, I can't make a prison so it's nice that there are ways for me to recruit them anyway- previously my raid forces where almost entirely mounted Melee troops. Among other things I learned to- never stand in doorways* (both you and the enemy can attack diagonally). Always use Mounts. Never over extend. Steal everything not nailed down. If you don't have a lot of ranged units, raiding at night is more ideal than during the day. Always have an eye towards upgrading your gear. Make a point of recovering the kit of any fallen comrades, if possible. *Coincidentally, most Humanoids sleep in houses during the night... Said houses are usually flammable and have only one door. You know, if you want them to come out and greet you. Watching this video though, made me realize that while the core mechanics are the same, different factions play very differently. There is no housing management with the undead- just make a huge crypt and have everyone sleep together. No population cap either- only limit is time, number of corpses, and gold for corpse upgrades. Being able to craft your own units makes you way less dependant on RNG, but the flipside is that it's hard to recover from poorly picked battles- troops don't heal and can't be repaired, and if you fail to collect new corpses they can't be replaced either. Undead don't have to worry about madness either- you can get your "legendary craftsman" just by brewing the right Balsams. I'm really looking foreword to trying some other starts- after I either win or get my ass beat in my current playthrough.
@@Johannespelle What Nook wasn't understanding is that if the unit is below your imp on the list, that means one of the units you already have recruited needs a personal quarters to advance. That is different than new recruits, which are above the imp on the list.
When nook's 90 he'll be bringing his brother to the warhammer store as a lifestyle and playing blood bowl with his shiny painted blue and yellow halflings, and purple and copper human minis too and taking a little time to catch up on the latest teams in his mid-life warhammer crisis while some people are getting motorcycles, laser protective goggles, and a rucksack though?
A game I should luv, but seems like maybe only winnable if the RNG gods give you a good location map and base area. If I leave random base attacks on I get killed by unkillable attackers who walk past all the traps unhurt and 1-shot my army no matter how I try and train and upgrade. Otherwise I end up running out of resources as I can't get any higher level resources since the golems wipe me out. Try as I may can't manage to kill the elementalist, top of the tower she 1-shots whatever I throw at her... Just frustrating
Tried this game when they added Undead. Refunded it cause all my Skeletons kept getting one shot from their organs being obliterated... Will probably give it another go when it's on sale
16:13 This game needs not one, but two, Hands of Evil added so someone can clap for that joke. Although even a manifestation of your own will might have given that two thumbs down. Seriously, the only thing that would make this game better is a little OG, Dungeon Keeper imp slapping. Just because we're all not masochistic enough for Dwarf Fortress doesn't mean we're not at all masochistic.
RUclips seems to have commercials just like watching TV back in the day. Also the gbln that hates all elves killed your archers while you were atkng the dwrvs
so these maps you start the game with - once you conquer the nearby places the game is over? are all races present on all maps? it seems games would finish rather quickly and there isnt a need to build a massive army - or is there something im missing?
i wonder the same thing and i got the game. i basically could almost finish the game with a pretty weak party. got killed by a lucky slightly stronger guy. but i couldnt see why i would have to make my party any stronger to beat the game. the attacks on my base were very easy too. what am i missing here?
Certain units also have resistance to ranged damage like zombie and vampire warrior. And you don't want to fight in a choke point against ranged units make sure you can attack with most of your units
Star Sector.. when the guy(s) decide. PZzz.. why not try the adult version, Cataclysm DDA, for free (OK, the GFX aren't so good, but the gameplay is incredible!)?
3:51 So how come the title reads as 1.0 but it's not 1.0? If i go by what i see it's actually alpha 36 from a year ago. Is this your way of saying the alpha 36 build is the same as 1.0? Really disappointing.

I was genuinely struggling understanding this on my own run. Thanks dude
Ur relaxing to watch, didnt mean to stick to watch, i was just interested to see what the game is like, but ended up staying since ur so chill.
Been playing the 1.0 release and save times are such a drag now, and today found out I can space them out more, thank you Nookrium!
If you put upstairs on the ground floor, you will go up a level and usually find iron quicker 👍
Thanks dude, played for years, didn't know you could go up, lol

I’ve never understood the title of this game, KeeperRL… what’s the RL mean? Real Life? Rogue Like/Light? Renegade Lipstick? 😅 Realistic Lounge?
Roguelike most likely, and 'Keeper' is problably a reference to the Dungeon Keeper series.
So, how many people comment like this? Ask a question that is answered within 5 minutes (literally 2:00 in) of the video opening.
