Your explanation has been most helpful. 👍
I think I get it now.
I was managing to MIDI Learn the Loop Master Pro controls to my new 'Chocolate BT' MIDI pedal but when I saved the preset, the MIDI connection wasn't saving.
The next time I opened that preset the MIDI mapping was lost and I'd have to redo it all over again.
THE TRICK apparently, as you point out, is to assign Macros inside Guitar Rig that connect to the required function and THEN MIDI learn the Pedal to the Macros ...
    Who knew ?
The Macro mappings are persistent irrespective, the manual says, of the Preset being used.

Thanks a lot for the detailed instructions and informative replies to comments. I would be very greatful if you could clarify one more thing about setting up this controller with Guitar Rig. I would like to set up one of the footswitches to work as a Hold button (for example for Freeze function in reverb effects). As far as I understand, Press down+Release mode should be activated and (obviously) Hold mode for the Macros button in Guitar Rig as well. The thing which is not clear to me is what MIDI type should I set up for Bank A and Bank B in Press down+Release mode. Should it be Custom MIDI code? If yes, which hex code should I enter to trigger Hold on/Hold off function?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eugene

Hello @user-yq9lw3dv4h, thank you for reaching out to us for assistance. No one will be in the studio for a few days but I think I can still assist you.
If I understand correctly you want to freeze reverb while holding the pedal down and release the reverb when you release the pedal. If that is what you want to do then follow these steps:
      • Select a foot switch
      • Select Mode: Press Down-Release (Two sets of information)
      BANK A
      • Double click the entry in ‘Bank A”
      • Select ‘Note On’ for Midi type
      • Enter 10 for data 1 (you can choose any number)
      • Enter 1 for data 2
      BANK B
      • Double click the entry in ‘Bank B”
      • Select ‘Note Off’ for Midi type
      • Enter 10 for data 1 (must be the same number you chose in 'Bank A')
      • Enter 0 for data 2
      GUITAR RIG
      • In GR6 right click on a knob in the Macro Module and select ‘Toggle knob/Button mode’ to change it into a button
      • Right click on that button and select midi learn
      • Step on the Chocolate pedal you setup
      • Right click on that button again and select ‘Enable Hold Mode’
      • Drag the 4way arrows to the reverb’s ‘Freeze’ icon
Now when you step on the Chocolate pedal the reverb will freeze and release when you release the pedal.
Please let me know if it works and feel free to reach out again if you need further assistance

      @@guitarschoollive ,
thank you so much for your quick and detailed reply! I tried the method described above and can confirm that it works perfectly!
A little while after I wrote the request about this function I decided to experiment with Custom Midi codes using the information from your replies to the comments down below. Just in case I will give the short description of this way to program the hold button, probably it may be useful for some users.
In Custom advanced mode select the required footswitch and tick Mode: Press down+release
      In Bank A
Click on the entry and set Midi type to Custom MIDI code.
      Type B0 03 7F B0 03 7F
      In Bank B
Click on the entry and set Midi type to Custom MIDI code.
      Type B0 03 00 B0 03 00
The setup in Guitar Rig is just as you described in your comment.
By the way, if you swap the hex codes betwen the two banks you can get a "reversed" Hold function which may give some interesting opportunities for certain creative cases and experimenting for certain styles (like ambient, dub, etc.)
Thank you so much for your help!
      Regards,
      Eugene

Could you clarify the hex code part? It's not clear why or what that is doing.

    • @guitarschoollive
      @guitarschoollive  Год назад +4

Hello Josh I, thank you for your question. The hex codes are a hack for CC messages. If you program the Chocolate to program mode C (CC messages) the chocolate only sends a single ‘On message’ which means you will be able to turn an effect on but won’t be able to turn it off. You could program single step switch between 2 banks in advanced mode but there are 2 problems with that:
      1. You lose the ability to change presets
      2. You may need to double tap a pedal to activate it if you leave the pedal for another and come back.
If you want to understand the hex code there are 2 parts. Let’s use the code for pedal A
      B0 01 00 B0 01 7F
      Part 1
      B0 means CC messages
      01 is the CC number
      00 means it’s off
      Part 2
      B0 - CC message
      01 - CC number
      7F - On
You’ll notice that in each pedal in the video the 2nd and 5th number change incremental from the prior pedal
      I hope that helps.

Hello Aza MusicRoom, thank you for reaching out to us with your question. Unfortunately at this time the Chocolate controller is limited to a single bank in the advanced custom mode. What many users have done is purchase multiple controllers and use one controller for program changes and the other for controlling effects.

    • @guitarschoollive
      @guitarschoollive  Год назад +2

Hello @_panilaperman9881, thank you for your question. I chose the preset numbers at random. The purpose of choosing random numbers is to show that any pedal can change to any preset.
If you don’t wish to toggle effects and only wish to change presets you can select ‘Program Change A’ in Cubesuite. The presets will change in numerical order. (ex: pedal A = preset 1, pedal B = preset 2 and so on). This option will give you access to 128 presets.

Hello Waitz_09, thank you for reaching out to us for assistance. The issue you are describing occurs when another program is using the Chocolate controller. The usual culprit is Cubesuite. Make sure to exit Cubesuite completely (close both screens).

Hi, i use a midi monitoring app and i realized chocolate only sends a signal after a pedal is released when i step short, is there a way i can program it in a way that it sends a signal as soon as i step on it?

    • @guitarschoollive
      @guitarschoollive  Год назад +1

Hello @_panilaperman9881, thank you for reaching out to us for assistance. You can program the Chocolate controller to send messages on pedal press by entering information in ‘Bank A’ and leaving ‘Bank B’ empty using ‘Mode: Press down - release’ in advanced custom mode. However with this method you are limited to only 4 options instead of 8.
You could enter information in both banks (ex:something happens when you press and something else happens when you release) but that will require experimentation to see what suits your setup.
Feel free to reach out to us again if you have any further questions.
