A couple of points missed here: Schiit’s digital guru, Mike Moffat created Urd because once they figured out the USB output, Mike found Unison to Unison (into their Yggdrasil OG) sounded better than spdf. They also chose that transport mechanism because it’s CD only. It’s not a bd/dvd/cd drive. It’s only for 16/44 CD audio because it’s still a really good format.

Your views about the Schiit cd transport should consider that pretty much any pc , labtop, macbook, can generate USB out for a CD when a CD drive is present. They only cost $20.
