Aaron and Emily, you rock. I’ve been watching since you very beginning and the things you do still just impress me. I’m 76 years old and in poor health so your videos bring me great happiness. May your kids keep going for years to come The old man from Californiawishes you well.
I love this because you two can work in that tight space and not get at each others throats!! I loooove car content but I’ve literally seen people do everything you can do to a car. I have no idea how boats are put together. This is awesome to watch!! Can’t wait to see that duramax pushing you all across a lake this summer!!
Great job guys! Big job. The cat was supervising your work Aaron. Lol I guarantee you guys built a better boat floor than they did from the factory. You can now enjoy it and feel confident in the structural integrity of your boat.
Love the instructional Video's as well as the No Fear attitude .. Remember even the Pro's had a "First time" doing that process.. Learn by Doing , Y'all knocked it outta the park.. I"m excited to see the New power plant install and the big Splash back into service..
So I’ve noticed Aaron hasn’t used the “ Less talk more work” line in quite awhile, and that tool you have for scraping off the roller has up to 9 uses. You have a scraping edge on the front, the pointy triangle shape on the one side opens the lid, and can be used to punch drain holes into the lip where the lid fits, and under the label is an oval shaped hole that’s for removing nails in case you don’t have a hammer handy. As well as the circular opening to scrape your roller
Here in the Uk, some years ago i rebuilt a write off motorhome. It needed lots of glass fibre work. I, as you did approached a large company that made parts for the trade. They, once i explained my needs let me purchase a large amount of materials so i could make my own moulds. Very cheaply too. Seen on my channel. One thing they emphasized strongly was to use around 2 to 3 % of activator in normal weather & no more than 5% in cold weather. Asking them why they explained 2 reasons. 1st if you use too much you risk the resin catching fire & 2nd if it goes off too quickly it will warp the glass fibre. I listened & the results were amazing. Having completely rebuilding the rear end of a beautiful motorhome I saved it from the scapheap & made a considerable sum in the process. Love your channel guys & carry on saving things. Steve.
These videos remind me of the old fish & ski I bought several years ago. The floor had some soft spots so I split the boat and cut the floor out. Discovered the stringers were soft too and the foam was saturated so ended up tearing it all the way down to the hull and replacing it all. Was a learning experience for sure! Awesome work you guys!!
Have you all considered vacuum bagging? It's ideal for hull and structural work as it helps eliminate voids and reduces excess resin. It may not be necessary for this project, but if you get another larger boat that requires a lot of work, the weight can add up quickly.
Aaron seeing the Kitty watching you made me laugh. Today I was at my mom's house digging a ditch and I looked up and there was like 4 of em just sitting there watching me! I have no clue why or who they belong to but it was funny. Love and hugs from Waco.😁
FishbumpTV has been around for years. Joe has stepped up his game and his videos are high quality. A little lengthy and repetitious. His work is what you would expect from a professional. He does break down projects into episodes so that he can show the process and steps in their entirety. While it is important to have enough fiberglass resin on hand, keep in mind that Vinyl Ester Resin has a shelf life of about 3 months so do not go overboard thinking you may be able to use the extra on a project that may come down the road much later on.
I found an old Checkmate in a salvage yard in N. Ga a couple yrs ago. 1979 Enchanter. It has a stepped hull. I redid the transom, knees, stringer and floor. I had to make upholstery…the whole 9 yds. I used epoxy because that was all I knew. Since then, I’ve found Fish Bump TV and Capt. Joe. And now ya’ll. Really enjoy your videos. Early in this video you kept your resin in the original cup and I was going to suggest putting it in a roller tray but when you started on the transom, you did. That is a good thing. I learned the hard way. Great job you two.
The stitched biaxial cloth (1708) can be easily wetted out by applying a generous amount of resin to the back side and then apply correct side out to the area. The resin will naturally want to flow upward to the surface of the cloth. You won't have to roll it much and the wet-out will be pretty much perfect.
FSG, you remain the uber dynamic duo to watch! Having done a bunch of glasswork and woodwork on sailboats I'd say you've done a great job! I'm also very happy you went diesel! Yes they are noisy and a bit smelly but diesels will never blow the stern off the boat and burn it to the waterline! So there's that! Mega Kudos Emily + Aaron! You've done very well!
Thanks for showing that group. working on aircraft and general aviation its neat to see this company and their website :) Y'all are killing it and living the dream bringing things back to life.

EMILY!! Speaking of hot water. One thing I've learned now that I've been in Texas for seven years; the water valve on the left is for Hot Water, and the water valve on the right is for "Not so Hot Water". Ya - tales from a Northerner who moved to Texas.
Your camera is quite interesting. It focuses wonderfully on people and gives an odd soft edge. Almost like the background is an added fake background. I kinda like it. Well done with the fiberglass work. Very meticulous.
It’s the Cinematic Mode on the iPhone 15 Pro 😅 it’s like a shallow lens, but the soft edges is kind of a lack of refinement in the camera, I think! But we like it too!
Wow!!! You guys really took on an unbelievable task . Many of us have watched from the start. I'm sure many of us are entertained as well as impressed with what you've accomplished . Can't wait for the day the Duramax is in, and you make a video of catching fish and cooking them on the boat. It's always nice to see the kid and mom make a cameo as well . Stay safe, and thanks for sharing. 😊😊
Looking good guys, can't wait till it is the water. BTW, Hearne has a new mural, a Roadrunner, done very well. A few buildings down from the train. Just saw it this evening for the first time.
I absolutely love the boat videos, Emily I see the love you have for your family, I lost my momma a couple of days ago, my mom was a lot like yours, give your momma a big hug, watching your videos are helping me get through, love ya guys ❤️
A lesson that I learned while being mentored by a paint master is that great preparation leads to great results. The finished can only be as good as the beginning. Your stellar work in the engine compartment is a direct result of your awesome preparation work.
You guys rock!! You took on a huge project to fix all the rot in the hull and fix the leaky gas tank & all, and learned along the way. This has rejuvenated a pretty nice boat, and you will get the new powertrain installed handily as well. Thanks so much for great video content!
Just seeing you guys work with that fiberglass makes me itch. In my teens, I worked in shop sweeping floors where fiberglass fabric was used. I would also go out installing the fiberglass drapes we made.😳Yikes!
Great to see you having a go and fixing it yourself. I bought myself an 18ft runabout in November 2024 that needed new stringers and floor. I have learnt to do fibreglass myself but I’m using epoxy resin for the whole job. Should be on the water February/March of this year ( I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 so it’s still summertime here). Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing more soon.
The cat supervisor in the one shot You mentioned you like hearing the airplanes buzz about around you, well I live near a small airport and all kinds of stuff are flying about, plus I am right in line with the runway where my house is. During the warm weather months I hear the old WWII fighter planes and the B25 bomber which is a real joy to hear taking off and landing. There nothing like hearing that old B25 in the air There are the regular piston and turbo props and some are float planes Every so often I hear a small jet that is able to land/takeoff at that airport too.
I am also working on a project boat. 18 foot MFG runabout. I will be replacing my stringers as soon as the weather warms up. I’m in CT. Learning a lot from your videos and will be contacting fiberglass warehouse. Thanks for the discount code.
One of my neighbors used to fix up old fibre glass boats as a sideline business. His opinion was if you pay full price to a pro for labour to rebuild a boat make sure it’s a boat you really like otherwise go and buy a new one. A properly rebuilt glass boat is usually better than a new one. I’m talking Australian boats and labour. Some Aussie boats are wolves in sheep’s clothing, everything looks great until you pull up the floor. Wages are high in Australia and fibre glass boat rebuilders are thin on the ground and good ones are even harder to find.
I also roll my clothes. I love your video's. Opened minded and learning from you guys and all those who you learn from. Thanks for the "in a hurry" " are you going to a fire" that's what came out of my parents. Thanks for the memories. I don't know how to sit still, I'm just like you guys got to get it done. cha cha cha. Now I have to decide if I want to get into my 67' Glasspar Avalon it needs some glass work. Yep a big project. Congratulations to both of you.
I used to repair saddle trees with fiberglass mat and used wax paper on top to help contour the glass around the surfaces. Turns out it's not as messy .
Can’t have too many boats in my opinion! I highly recommend an a/c system. One that you can use under way and one that doesn’t use lake water. It’s really easy to pipe it up and have a vent blowing across your feet at the helm. Loving this project, you guys are awesome!
Aaron professional doesn't mean perfect so your doing a great job on fiberglass I worked with it on car and boats is not fun but it Shure is sturdy you two are doing a great job keep up the great work and God bless the both of you
I found your video informative, your go n shoot as you go...lol. Arron, you're just like me! But learning from another saves you a lot of aggravation. Thanks yall! Ive learned a bunch...not just from you, but also the comments from those who know a thing or three!
Super project! In the early nineties (almost said a few years ago), I had a 2755 Sunbridge that was a constant project. Probably a good thing it was only mechanical, LOL!
You kids Rock! Edit; i almost forgot to mention. If you don't like the voids/bubbles where the folds are. Get a syringe/injection device. Grainger/ Fastenal may have them. Drill a small hole at the lowest part of the void and one at the highest. In the lower hole, inject the silica mix till void is full place a piece of tape over injection hole to prevent drainage.😊
I love watching your channel and how well you both work together! There’s a channel called “Born again Boating”. You may have heard of it. It takes older boats and restores them to today’s standards! Your love for each other shows in every episode and the respect for each other is amazing! Blessings to you both and your families!!
Man that fiberglass work looks so good y'all did a great job my motor come in Monday I'm waiting for the weather to break here in Tennessee so I can paint my engineering got all kind of Parts laying in the boat ready to go I get mine done I would love to go to the Bahamas my boat was bound for the junkyard 2 I gave $1,500 for a Carver Monterey 26 and another thousand for a tri axle trailer just goes to show you if you breathe new life into an old boat do you get the same memories as a new one and you don't have a 3 to $4,000 mortgage on a boat love the channel guys can't wait to see that Duramax in the Bayliner
Get some Bilge Coat paint to make your bilge look nice and clean, Emily. Works great. I did a fiberglass repair on a friends boat and used bilge coat instead of gel coat under a hardtop. Worked great!
Love the boat content! First video I stumbled upon of y'alls was about this boat. Subscribe and watched every one on it and obviously all your other videos too. Can't wait to see the duramax spooling up on the water here soon!
And that new skill you learned will come in handy later if you want to do some custom panels for cars or custom cabinets for your trailer later. With this you can make things whatever shape you want them to be. Including rounded corners your less likely to catch your hip on in a tight space in the trailer project.
Very nicely done! Patience is a virtue when working with fiberglass material and resins. You certainly work well together and share the workloads. Im watching from Detroit while its 4° outside and envious of your warm weather. Love the boat videos, keep up the great work!
When mixing resin and harder bubbles will start to develope. Rest your mix a few minits before use to get them out. The rounding of the edges needs more. Last time a mentioned a 45° cut. If a seam stays you can always use fibre filler to fill it up. Bottom layer dont try to bent. Cut same outside as the wood. The only thing to consider is ,,potlife,,. As soon as the harder gets in its hardening out. So first mix A component with the silica or strands of fiber or colour stuff. At 27:00 thats a choise to make. Its just some work (grinding, prepping and putting a new ps 60 topcoat on). But you have a nice new sealed and painted engine bay. Fibreglass is constructed outside to inside. For the outer scale the flat, shiny outside is the first layer. Then inside layer on layer is built up to get the thickness and strenght. During this the surface gets boobly and wobbly. For the inner scale its from in to out.
I suggest for a larger older boat you look for an Alaskan 49 displacement trawler. They are about 15' plus beam x 49' long. They have a great fly bridge and enough upper deck space for a 12' hard bottom inflatable with a 18 to 25 HP outboard, plus room for a couple of small sit on Kayaks. I fell in love with the design back in the mid 80s. They have a great inside helm station, a full size galley and a very comfortable salon. You can also enjoy a master stateroom with full private head and shower that is full beam amidship, with another 2 or 3 guest state rooms with one head for them. Contact me or see Boat Trader and look for a DeFever 49 Pilot House Trawler. Just and old boater not far from you Marshall, Tx. Fly over and visit once it warms up 😊

I LOVE Aaron's 'racer math' on the fiberglass supplies!! "I bought too much in fiberglass products, so I need another, bigger, boat to work on."
The thing that attracts me to a series is more the personalities of the principals as it is the subject. You guys and the greatest!

Get some Bilge Coat paint to make your bilge look nice and clean, Emily. Works great. I did a fiberglass repair on a friends boat and used bilge coat instead of gel coat under a hardtop. Worked great!
I love you both cannot wait to see the boat on the water ❤❤❤
@@juneladden5151 we sure appreciate the love, June!
I love how yall come to Arkansas to the lake , I'm in Arkansas and I love going out on the river with my ski boat
Looks great guys !!!🎉
Love the boat content! First video I stumbled upon of y'alls was about this boat. Subscribe and watched every one on it and obviously all your other videos too. Can't wait to see the duramax spooling up on the water here soon!
Thanks for being with us for the journey!
I believe I could smell that beef grilling all the way up here in Colorado.
Great job guys have a good trip.
And that new skill you learned will come in handy later if you want to do some custom panels for cars or custom cabinets for your trailer later. With this you can make things whatever shape you want them to be. Including rounded corners your less likely to catch your hip on in a tight space in the trailer project.
You are absolutely right! So many possibilities! 🙏🏼
29 min 58 sec yeah! Still with ya
Fly over and visit once it warms up 😊
That’s a great tip, thanks! We’ll be sure to look into it. 🙏🏼
Nice job. Thats going to be so much when you get her in the water.
Hey guys. Another great video. If your ever this side of the Atlantic I've a similar boat in need of your help 😂😂. Keep them coming
