You need a garbage can to do it right and bury the lower unit as deep as possible. Water should pummp within 2 second or you are burning the new pump to a crisp.

A lot of kind regard's from Oslo Norway, to sees this family together showing how to work on old vintage car's and boat's is so cool. It show that it's hope for the future, keep up the good work, enjoy every episode of this you tube channel. This take me back to the 70 and the 80 with amcar's in Norway.Love the american livestyle ❤😊😊
Y'all are doing an awesome job teaching The KID! I don't know about y'all but it was so fun for me to teach my son's how to do stuff. I just got such a kick out of watching them learn and watching the confidence build in them. One is 30 and a traveling mechanic and the other one is 26 and an over the road trucker. I don't get to see them much but usually when they come to visit it's so I can figure out how to fix something for them.😂 But I don't mind one little bit. Love and hugs from Waco!😁
That was great. I'd love to go out on a boat like that and fish, reminds me of the 69s when Dad used to take us fishing on Belton Lake and the Brazos River.
The kid's smile is amazing. She is completely in step with the sarcasm and joy you all share. She is one lucky girl. i what come see you soon and i come over you house my love xx
I dig the way you let the kid do things that's how they learn by hands on I never had the patience I always worried that they would screw something up I'm better now that I'm older she's a sweetheart
I noticed the minnows in the plastic bag and it brought back memories of when I was about the Kids age, we (family) took a vacation to Texas and bought minnows in a bag. I thought it would only be a matter of time that it would catch on here, but not yet. There are some places that sell minnows like that but not everywhere. Thanks for bringing us along.
@user-jj5bc7kn7o, it really is. I was a little kid in the ‘60’s, and boats like this take me back to care free times on the lake. A few years ago I got nostalgic and started buying old Evinrude outboards from the ‘50’s. A little retirement project I’m hoping to get to. I need to find a couple of period correct boats like this to complete a package or two. I’ll tell you though, some lakes will no longer allow the old two strokes. I think my Evinrudes run on either 16:1 or 32:1, I can’t recall, but either way, those old motors would leave a little oil slick in the water.
Awesome !!! I think one of the coolest things a side from all your knowledge on autos, planes, and boats is you’re just like the rest of us and learn things on the fly and how to fix things…But the most awesome things are what you’re teaching the Kid about what really matters and a life time of how to do for herself!!!
Great video guys, the kid has the cuteous smile. Nothing like fresh caught fish!!!!. Erin better watch out he might get out fished. I love that you guys are teaching her how to use tools and all about cars and boats. Keep it up!
You just can't beat a good day on the water topped off by enjoying some fresh fish. That looks so enjoyable. You don't need a $$$$$ rig to doe it either. Enjoy!

Your days of adventure were awesome, and your reward of fish tacos looked very tasty. I like to have my fish bone in for several reasons: more meat to eat, and the bones do give a nice flavor to the meat. A bonus about the bones is that you can fry them up crispy crunchy like shoe strings fires and they are a mild sort of nutty flavor. Great days y'all. Thank you for sharing them.
So much respect for your skills. Aaron, I bet you kinda wish you videotaped taking the bottom off the motor 🤪. Anyway, I live on Long Island in New York, so me and my friends fish a little different. We go to the south shore and get on a party boat. We try to catch fluke (or stripped bass depending on the time of year) and the crew fillets the fish for us. I know, it sounds snobby, but it's how we do up here and we have a blast.
It's such a cool little boat. I have a 66 Lone Star Tracer in my backyard that is now a fountain. I have a 1950 Montgomery Ward 5.5 HP on my porch I'd like to running. Learned a lot from you guys on the little outboard to help me on mine.
Hey Emily, the light fitting on the front of the boat is likely chrome on pot metal. Unfortunately, once it is pitted and corroded, it is probably not worth the expense to rechrome it. I would suggest to just polish it up as best you can with some metal polish and repolish every now and then as required. I think that the fitting not being perfect adds to the charm of the boat. The hood bird on my 55 Chevy is the same. I just polish it now and then which makes it a bit shinier but not perfect.
Yes rechroming is the way to repair the bow light. Though you can clean the lens up. The better way to have mounted it is alum ( to help keep corrosen down)(like metals) Rivet Nuts Threaded Insert. With the limited battery power , why didn't you use LED's? Now that you have everything mounted take it all back off and put a bedding base on them. Keep the water off/out of them will help keep the rust from forming.
Just so yall know in most states now until he gets the controls and steering hooked up yall all have to wear a life jacket in that boat with a tiller drive if the WFA wants to push it they can give yall close to $200 ticket at least thats the cost in LA. Wonderful video!! Having learned to water ski behind an 11' car top boat with a 20hp motor, I learned that weight distribution is both sensitive and critical. It looked to me that you were a little stearn heavy. You could try moving the gas tank to in front of the back seat and moving the battery to under the front seat. You might also try adjusting the trim bar on the motor. That bar limits how close to the stern the drive shaft sits. Craft that size are very, VERY responsive and sensitive to the slightest weight movement. You might want to wait until you get the gear/throttle control and steering connected first. Bolt on trans alum. 12” pads put back up higher in water and makes easier pulling skears or tubers 🤠🇺🇸
Got good results with naval jelly and a tooth brush on an old bike, the rims were rusty messes and it made the chrome shine again.
Great boat and a fun fishing trip really enjoyed it.

You learn once never forget the drain plug first thing on the check list before every mission, safety first.
I was thinking about that too. That’s a mistake almost every boater makes, but rarely more than once.
Way cool. For such a small motor, that thing is pretty peppy. Thanks for the video.
