Y'all are doing an awesome job teaching The KID! I don't know about y'all but it was so fun for me to teach my son's how to do stuff. I just got such a kick out of watching them learn and watching the confidence build in them. One is 30 and a traveling mechanic and the other one is 26 and an over the road trucker. I don't get to see them much but usually when they come to visit it's so I can figure out how to fix something for them.😂 But I don't mind one little bit. Love and hugs from Waco!😁

@user-jj5bc7kn7o, it really is. I was a little kid in the ‘60’s, and boats like this take me back to care free times on the lake. A few years ago I got nostalgic and started buying old Evinrude outboards from the ‘50’s. A little retirement project I’m hoping to get to. I need to find a couple of period correct boats like this to complete a package or two. I’ll tell you though, some lakes will no longer allow the old two strokes. I think my Evinrudes run on either 16:1 or 32:1, I can’t recall, but either way, those old motors would leave a little oil slick in the water.

Take care of the Crack in the w/screen by drilling a small diameter hole right at the end of it.
To attend to the Crack is not essential, but can be glued with a liquid instant glue that can be gently applied & supported till set.
To improve the clarity of the windscreen try in a corner on the outside different products if you want to.
You might find that using simply a rattle can of clear single pack lacquer after a light sanding with 3m fine cloth with keeping horizontal strokes & 2 coats of clear lacquer will bring it up to an exellent finish.
First coat should be a light tack coat, then finish with a full wet coat before first coat goes off.
But as I say just test in a corner on the outside, as the inside surface is not affected from damage from the ultra violet light.
      Good luck !

Your days of adventure were awesome, and your reward of fish tacos looked very tasty.
I like to have my fish bone in for several reasons: more meat to eat, and the bones do give a nice flavor to the meat. A bonus about the bones is that you can fry them up crispy crunchy like shoe strings fires and they are a mild sort of nutty flavor.
Great days y'all. Thank you for sharing them.

So much respect for your skills. Aaron, I bet you kinda wish you videotaped taking the bottom off the motor 🤪. Anyway, I live on Long Island in New York, so me and my friends fish a little different. We go to the south shore and get on a party boat. We try to catch fluke (or stripped bass depending on the time of year) and the crew fillets the fish for us. I know, it sounds snobby, but it's how we do up here and we have a blast.

Hey Emily, the light fitting on the front of the boat is likely chrome on pot metal. Unfortunately, once it is pitted and corroded, it is probably not worth the expense to rechrome it. I would suggest to just polish it up as best you can with some metal polish and repolish every now and then as required. I think that the fitting not being perfect adds to the charm of the boat. The hood bird on my 55 Chevy is the same. I just polish it now and then which makes it a bit shinier but not perfect.

  • @vernebrown4441
    @vernebrown4441 5 месяцев назад

Yes rechroming is the way to repair the bow light. Though you can clean the lens up. The better way to have mounted it is alum ( to help keep corrosen down)(like metals) Rivet Nuts Threaded Insert. With the limited battery power , why didn't you use LED's?
Now that you have everything mounted take it all back off and put a bedding base on them. Keep the water off/out of them will help keep the rust from forming.

Wonderful video!! Having learned to water ski behind an 11' car top boat with a 20hp motor, I learned that weight distribution is both sensitive and critical. It looked to me that you were a little stearn heavy. You could try moving the gas tank to in front of the back seat and moving the battery to under the front seat. You might also try adjusting the trim bar on the motor. That bar limits how close to the stern the drive shaft sits. Craft that size are very, VERY responsive and sensitive to the slightest weight movement. You might want to wait until you get the gear/throttle control and steering connected first. I hope the kid has as much fun running the boat as I had in my early teenage years in the car top craft.

It’s definitely really rewarding to be able to go out and catch your own fish and do a catch, clean, cook with whatever you caught for sure!!! I absolutely love doing the same thing all the time that I get a chance to go fishing!!! I ended up getting a 18’ flat bottom boat and I ended up putting a 35HP Johnson on it and my pup and I love going out and fishing as much as we can for sure!!! I have had some issues with the motor lately though!! It will start up but when I put it in gear and try to throttle up it just wants to fall on its face!!! It worked fine last summer and it just started doing this the first time out with it this year!! If you have any ideas on what might be the issue I’d definitely love to hear them?? I put all fresh gas in and it has all new gas line and everything else!!! I have rewired it because I had noticed that a few wires looked as if the outer coating had melted a little and wanted to freshen them up!!! I have not tried it since getting all the wire replaced in it yet!!! Hopefully that might fix it!!! I just have to get some time to get out and try it now!!! Awesome video and I definitely love seeing you guys go out and catch the fish and take them back and clean them up and make a nice dinner out of them!!! Totally awesome for sure!!!!

You asked about something for cleaning up the chromium finish on the bow light. I've always had great success with a product called NEVR-DULL made by a company named The George Basch Co. from Freeport, NY. It's available in most stores here in Canada so you should be able to find it down there. Keep up the great content.

Aaron, the reason the boat motor pump is not circulating water is it is not a suction pump and must be submerged below the pump in order to pump water FYI

I sure did enjoy the episode, but I can't imagine as much as the kid did! The boat is a classic! While I'd be tempted to make the seats into storage, it might be safer to fill them with closed cell foam (I think pink board will do) for flotation in case of swampage....
