Recently dined at Jiko, a South African restaurant in Orlando, Florida. Enjoyed the South African wine selections and conversation with the staff. The South African staff that had previously been employed had not returned as I understand due to Covid but are expected to return soon.
Do you think it was fair to omit that Malay, Mozambiquan, and Madascarian slave labor made it possible to produce the wines, given the size of regions and the limited number of colonists?
I only asked if it was fair to omit the facts in the section of your lesson labeled "History." That doesn't make me a keyboard warrior. And I'm not sure why you find the question some sort of ambush or bitter attack. Would you have answered the same way if I had asked, hypothetically, if it was fair to omit the "Dutch East India Company?" I found your lesson enjoyable, and you should have taken the question as a buying sign... and realizing comprehensive history is essential to me, a potential customer informed me that's covered later without accusing me of something I'm not... South Africa, which is located on a continent that is dear to my son and me, is the eighth-largest producer of wine in the world. And your lesson benefits my 18-year-old son, who is interested in the history of wines. I recommended he start with new world wines of S.A... Remember you have elected to speak on behalf of a history larger than "our" egos combined.

You are absolutely right and I have edited my previous reply to reflect this. I put a lot of time into these videos and I try to be as thorough as possible. Sometimes I get negative comments that are not thoughtful as yours are, with some unfair trolling which can be deflating. This time I overreacted and I apologise for that. In this video I am trying to flesh out the business history as described by the WSET Diploma text which is scant. And I will be addressing the additional topics in future videos

I know it isn't top shelf, but it will be our first glass of wine together... I must add the highlight of the evening was a glass of Vin de Constance dessert wine. The Cederburg Cabernet Sauvignon was very nice too.
