- That was a tough one. I went into the race not really healthy, but this race here in Wanaka is just epic. Maybe the best Sceneries i have ever raced in. WOW! Usually i would be disappointed with a 3rd Place, but under that circumstances i am really happy. Challenge Wanaka was a blast and made so much fun. Even though the race had some struggles for me as well. But thats why we love Triathlon. Thank you for your support. Next one is Ironman Taupo!

Well started, Sebi Kienle. Well done, Rene. As a triathlete, triathlonfan, filmmaker and professional screenwriter I miss some storytelling and possible perspectives. This is not meant to be a criticism, in the end it's absolutely up to you how you show and design this journey. So it's more of a suggestion. What if you be a bit more personal. Let us feel a bit more about this LAST journey. Even if it's great to win races, could this really be the goal in this last year? Is there really no change in sight? What's about the wonderful underlaying uncertainty, which is always a part of a last journey - a kind of real freshness, innocence and renewed rediscovery? Does it need the always same kind of music again? This supposed sound of greatness and adventure? Throughout his career, Sebi is one of the most reflected and thoughtful athletes. Now it's time to race AND reflect. About the farewell, the joy, our sport, the beauty and the hard times of being a world class athlete - and in the end maybe also about why it's so difficult to let go of the victory. All that (and a lot more of this questions) could make this series a truly personal portrait. It's up to you. I'm sure you can do it, if you want. Thanks for sharing! Enjoy the journey!

Well done Sebi on toughing it out and doing it anyway even though you were sub-par! Although wins are what you after, sometimes we just need to let out expectations step back and just enjoy events and sceneries and what we can enjoy, at the end of the day. Its a tough course huh, it was my first half ironman, in its early years, my final there when Macca did the full ironman and was seen sculling a 2L bottle of coke during the marathon... lol! My final long was Taupo Ironman, so you enjoy that too and our beautiful country along the way. By the way, your title is spelt wrong, 'paradise'

Great podium placing Sebi! but being 5 minutes behind first place and field was likely not too competitive, is this simply a matter of ageing? And these videos are too depressing, when I see you and what you say, it evident that your competitive fire is dwindling down significantly. Don't do this to yourself. You are more than triathlon. GG!
Hey Gabe, thanks. Sorry that it was depressing. I actually still love it and I’m very happy to end my career with a year like this. For being 5min behind, resultlists are the thing that matters but they don’t tell a story. Look at the Kona resultlist…
