It was designed in 1952 and still flies for the world's great Western militaries. They have gotten digital flight control and engine upgrades but it's basically the same old 50's machine.
The venerable Chinook, it's gotten my platoon and me out of a few scrapes on more than one occasion along with others and a truly wonderful sound to hear. Thanks for making this video.🙏
I cannot be the only 47 year old man who stops dead what ever he's doing, raises his head and tilts it at an angle, ...........thought I heard something, even the dog is getting in on the action and he's now tilting his head with me .............whop.........whop,whop.........................................whop, whop,slap,.............me and the dog look at each other and give a knowing nod and then drop what ever we were doing and rush outside.............and wait for those beautiful thuds to turn into thunderous slaps as a CHINOOK flies over our garden..........of course you and the dog look at each other with a knowing grin......................the women in the house just don't get it like us chief says the dogs face, I nod my head and we stand there long after that big beautiful girl as flown out of sight ............listening to it fade.....did I just imagine that last distant slap or was it a ..................no, I look at my dog and we both walk inside to finish our chow.......till next time Big Girl xxxxxxxxxxxXXXXXX.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha, love the way you put it. I mentioned before does anyone else no matter what when you hear a chinook run outside. My brother is raf I often stay on his base with my family and the commen site. But when I'm at home and one flys over I'm strait outside looking for it. Beautiful site.
You think that's loud? Try being in amongst half a battalion (over 300 personnel) of airmobile infantry being lifted at once with many chinooks and pumas. Awesome does not begin to describe that feeling!
Some great footage of them at toddbrook reservoir dam incident whaleybridge derbyshire from 2019 when they assisted in saving our town below after spillway failure
Worth reading Ed Macy's book Apache if you want to know why modern helicopters have long start-up and check phases. British Apache Longbows fighting in Afghanistan. The hows and whys.
Thanks for responding. My comment is a joke. The building ‘s design looks like the British Houses of Parliament and the clock tower looks like Big Ben.
@@Mr.SisterFisster you need to study geography. You can tell that you are American from you uneducated post. Therefore Mexican’s are Americans too? So why do you need a wall? Why are you trying to stop them from entering their own country: America 🇺🇸?

Dude says the blast, it's called downwash and you are way too far away, try working with the things every day in the military every day which is why my ears ring constantly..LOL

Heehee yX-D!! 🤔😏😄🏆🥇❤️
... theres a flag on the top of the building, ez to tell where that is
I put that on extended speaker and my heart started pounding just from the spool up, man I can imagine the live experience! Chinook rules!
I have ridden on both American and British chinooks, British pilots are nuts, but As An American our pilots got big balls.

I can feel every single thumping sound of the rotor blades in the ground

Nah try 30 B-52s flying over your head 30 meters off the ground
@@Bretaxy someone jealous
Dude that's just like 10 chinooks since each carry 30 soldiers
I think the pilot must’ve spent nine minutes and twenty seconds searching for the handbrake!
10 years ago today this was posted !
That turn they do in the air is incredible (/°o°)/!
Skip to 9.20 for the actual take off!!
The Best Sound
A Masterpiece of Heli technology....
Brilliant. Straight up vertical. Good skill.
Some great footage of them at toddbrook reservoir dam incident whaleybridge derbyshire from 2019 when they assisted in saving our town below after spillway failure
The sand washed away, I use to work on that Dam. And the kids where for always taken out the blocks that lined it. Maybe it didn't help.
Vidéo starts at 9:20
Long ass warm-up
You need to witness the preflight, startup and warmup of an Osprey.
Worth reading Ed Macy's book Apache if you want to know why modern helicopters have long start-up and check phases.
British Apache Longbows fighting in Afghanistan. The hows and whys.
I worked on these in the Air Force I now live 1/2 a km from the base I was at where they are!!
Dambly you're blessed! The child in me wishes I was there too \(°o°)/!
Uno de los helicoptero más impresionante hechos por él ser humano
Wowsers I love shanocks no way no search warrants
_"(loud!)"?_ Well, it IS a HELICOPTER...🤭
See these frequently here in the UK, helps that I live near two RAF bases
I love the sight, sound, and practicality of this platform
(/^v^)\!
Occasionally, rarely, I hear one approaching at high altitude from a distance. I know the sound immediately.
Just listen to the sound of those rotor blades
10 minutes of JP fuel 1K a barrel! Gotta love it!

OK ANGELS IN GREEN NOWDAYS🥋🥊🥊🛡🛡🛡
When you need to gather up all americans in one place just put a chinook on the ground.
FYI. They're not Americans, looks at the flags on the buildings ;-)
@@jacko101 They are Americans, Canada is part of North America.

Why did they leave in such a hurry ?

Cool video, but you could have cut out about 95% of the video.
Indeed, vid should've started at about 9 minutes in.

This was filmed back in the days of Stephen Harper, but your sentiment is well taken. 😉
