It was designed in 1952 and still flies for the world's great Western militaries. They have gotten digital flight control and engine upgrades but it's basically the same old 50's machine.

The venerable Chinook, it's gotten my platoon and me out of a few scrapes on more than one occasion along with others and a truly wonderful sound to hear. Thanks for making this video.🙏

I have ridden on both American and British chinooks, British pilots are nuts, but As An American our pilots got big balls.

I cannot be the only 47 year old man who stops dead what ever he's doing, raises his head and tilts it at an angle, ...........thought I heard something, even the dog is getting in on the action and he's now tilting his head with me .............whop.........whop,whop.........................................whop, whop,slap,.............me and the dog look at each other and give a knowing nod and then drop what ever we were doing and rush outside.............and wait for those beautiful thuds to turn into thunderous slaps as a CHINOOK flies over our garden..........of course you and the dog look at each other with a knowing grin......................the women in the house just don't get it like us chief says the dogs face, I nod my head and we stand there long after that big beautiful girl as flown out of sight ............listening to it fade.....did I just imagine that last distant slap or was it a ..................no, I look at my dog and we both walk inside to finish our chow.......till next time Big Girl xxxxxxxxxxxXXXXXX.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha, love the way you put it. I mentioned before does anyone else no matter what when you hear a chinook run outside. My brother is raf I often stay on his base with my family and the commen site. But when I'm at home and one flys over I'm strait outside looking for it. Beautiful site.

You think that's loud? Try being in amongst half a battalion (over 300 personnel) of airmobile infantry being lifted at once with many chinooks and pumas. Awesome does not begin to describe that feeling!
