    I have a 6 b y 12 too - but with out the V front- so I have a bit less space. Mine is currently a "no build" build using L track to elevate my bed, and rachett straps and floor and wall rings to hold my metal shelving units in place. Still trying to figure out how to rig up my bed to raise and lower it with pulleys. I have only spent 5 days max staying in it so far, while traveling. Thanks for all of the ideas.

    • @1man_caravan
      @1man_caravan  6 месяцев назад +1

      HI! I'm glad you got some ideas and inspiration out of the tour. It is so fun and rewarding to build something yourself - you have that dang, I did that feeling! Go look online at Toy Hauler Trailers that have those beds in the back that raise and lower and see if you can get some ideas from how they engineer the pully system and incorporate that into your build. Summer is around the corner; I hope you have great travels in your little rig! Cheers

    You can probably get a proper reclining chair that when it's in reclining position would fit under your Murphy bed also, might be little more comfortable, love the build and the lifestyle, my only question is, do you ever regret not getting the 7 foot or 8 foot wide trailer??

    • @1man_caravan
      @1man_caravan  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hello! I do have a zero gravity chair and a cushion that is the full size from Amazon that I can drag in if I want to recline so great point indeed! I do not regret getting the 6x12 even a little. It was meant to mimic the size of a Sprinter van so I could see if I could live in that space. Now I don't want a van after almost six years doing this because I don't want my house to have an engine that can break and then I am SOL with no house! Next year or so I will do a new build and it will be 7x14 to accommodate the systems I want to be completely off grid. Cheers

    Hi Aaron, Do you wish you had gotten a 7' wide instead?? Im wanting to get and build a 7x14 single axle! Mine will be a camper, 'bedroom or cabin on wheels' to visit various campgrounds in my getaways with friends.

    • @1man_caravan
      @1man_caravan  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hello Christopher! So.....as far as space goes.....I am good with the 6' wide.....but....I live full time in the space including cold winters with some snow and what I have learned is that the 6' is not wide enough for proper wall insulation where the plywood wall attaches to the metal wall studs. I have 1/4 inch plywood walls that screw into the metal studs. There is 1" Rmax Thermasheath rigid insulation (R6 value) in the walls that fits into the cavities the metal wall studs accommodate. The problem is that the metal studs radiate heat/cold easily through the wall where it touches the metal stud. The metal screws attaching the plywood will radiate cold/heat directly into the interior and will sweat moisture in the cold. My ceiling has 1" thick wood beams I attached to the 1" metal beams the trailer came with and 2" rigid insulation.....the ceiling board is screwed into that wood beam, eliminating all that thermal transfer. I will get a 7' wide trailer in my next build to accommodate a 2" wall build like my ceiling has and still be able to fit all the stuff in between those walls I have now!
      Cheers,
      Aaron

    How much do you think your trailer weighs, and do you pull it with your Jeep? I have a brand new 6x12 cargo trailer and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. I am just curious, sir. Beautifully done, by the way. Following.

    • @1man_caravan
      @1man_caravan  6 месяцев назад +3

      Hi! For sure you have enough vehicle to tow your 6x12 trailer. My trailer weighs about 3000 pounds. And that is when it is loaded with all my crap! The trailer was 1300 pounds new and when I was done building it it weighed approx 1800 pounds. Then you add water and fill the propane tanks, add groceries, and your stuff blah blah, and you quickly get to the 3000 pound max weight for this single axle trailer. If yours has two axles, you can double the cargo capacity. Mine as a single axle has 1618 pounds of cargo capacity. Since I treat this as a tiny home I don't drag it around to camp etc....but yes....my little jeep is equipped for towing this trailer if I need to. Just not the best setup and I have to remove some stuff to meet my legal tow weight. We have forest fires in my area, so I wouldn't hesitate to load it up at full weight and get the hell out if I needed to.....just sayin! Cheers

    • @1man_caravan
      @1man_caravan  6 месяцев назад +3

      Thank you! This all started out as an experiment because I wanted a Sprinter Van but was not sure if I could live in that small of a space. This trailer new listed for $3100 empty in 2018 and matched the dimensions of the back of the Sprinter. Much cheaper way to explore if I could do this then getting a van! Turns out I love it and almost in here for six years now. I don't want a van any longer because engines break and I don't want my house in the shop! I will do another build in the future but most likely 7x14. Cheers

    • @1man_caravan
      @1man_caravan  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there. I think the width really depends on what you want inside of the rig. If you want a queen size bed that is stationary and the ability to walk around both sides you have to be in an 8'. I have gotten so use to being in this tiny space that it really works well for me. That said, my next build will be a double axle for more weight carrying ability (more water and waste storage) and 7x14 to fit the layout and systems I think would be ideal for me in the rig including minimum 2" walls for more insulation. Currently my walls are 1" with rigid insulation and that works quite well but I would prefer 2". I plan on doing a lot more exploring and boondocking with the next build so it will have to be off grid capable for a week or longer. Cheers!

    Do you have a link for the shower pan/ tub you used?

      Hello! I don't have a link where I got it from 🫣 but what I did was search RV Step Tub then you choose a right or left drain depending on what way you want the tub going and find the cheapest price online! That is what I did. Could have been Recpro I got it from but not sure. Happing hunting for the best deal. Cheers

    Can you tell me how tall it is from the ground to the top?

      HI....a little over 8 feet tall outside from the ground to the roof plus there are vent hood covers that are about 10 inches tall on the roof. Inside from the floor to the ceiling I installed is 6 foot 5 inches and then there is 3 more inches between the ceiling and the outside roof with insulation in it. I purchased a cargo trailer with extra roof height. Cheers

    Nah thats too small of a space. Its built well but the floor plan needs rethinking. Good for you tho. Very cool build
