I’ve kept up with GTA as I’ve had 90+ days on it. I have no problem or issue dealing with R* BS as I’m one of those dudes who does whatever he can to have fun. That includes breaking the game and using things like SW. However, with this update I have no interest in coming back. I haven’t played much since drug wars and I do love the way they’ve handled QOL changes. This is not QOL though and it’s sad. The only reason they are finally balancing stuff is because the staff isn’t there to support the game with big updates. They’re only doing this because these are technically features and pads the updates to make them look more appealing. That being said, the changes are great and want them to do more with it. Too bad these changes have come with a bad and worse scenario. It’s great for the company and consumers but it’s so bad with how they do the changes. They give QOL features just to revert or restrict the gameplay loop and it’s so dumb. It makes the game less appealing for players as it’s either always been around or just adapted to it. It also doesn’t make people come back and that really hurts playing with friends, it’s insignificant which makes it not worth playing. And the stuff that actually changes the game doesn’t do enough to make up for anything else in that update. Sorry for ranting, Ik it doesn’t affect others or the company but I miss the good old days of playing with friends and doing glitches for cars and unobtainables. I’m proud that so many are keeping up with it though, the lord on how the glitches come to be is amazing and I suggest doing them if you find this shit as BS as it looks. Also, hot take but if I had to choose, I would rather have an orbital cannon not be patched and still have the nearly 200 cars they took.
Yup definitely was like this is a bad idea but we'll do it anyway and make it so no one can criticize us for it ignore the backlash and it doesn't exist
You could tell some bad corporate shit was going down when a lot of the heavy hitters left Rockstar. Pretty obvious they didn't like the direction the company was taking.
@vertwrld1438 Yeah, they've been building a "mega game" for at least the past 5 years since rdr2 released when 2005 rockstar would've given us 5 titles in that time, and that's an excuse to be milking out money from people with scummy practices for the past decade. And yeah, "smallest little problems". Like paywalling half the fucking content. Keep these braindead takes to yourself please.
In a game most famously named for the act of stealing cars, they have now made it so that the most desirable cars in the game can only be acquired via a legal purchase. That is so unbelievably stupid, it's actually brilliant.
@@Unknown_Geniusoesn't mean that GTA didn't become Grand Theft Rockstar. Rockstar likes thefting us now. Instead of us thefting cars we cannot and we have to pay them.
This is technically "Grand Theft Wallet" now. They've made a game series about stealing cars, doing crime and ripping off other criminal gangs, to the point the devs themselves are coming up with schemes to squeeze more cash out of you, and being shameless about it.
@@abfkwbdkdmggfilw-uv5bn I haven't played GTA Online but from my understanding you'll still have your cars as long as you never sold them, plus later into this video Muda shows one of his garages of cars and how at least one of those cars he owns is no longer obtainable outside of the premium membership (I think it's called GTA+) and so with all that being said you'll probably still have any cars they "removed" from this game as long as you never sold them off.
Thanks for covering this. It’s nice to see it getting more attention because it’s one of the most scummy things Rockstar has ever done and absolutely needs more eyes on it.
It's just moronic, they have no right to do something like this. Each year they show they can make things even worse in new increasingly idiotic and scummy way. It also makes new played experience even worse as decent base GTA5 cars that could be had relatively cheapily are now gone. More of the reason to just play on FiveM servers instead...
@ironmenschmusicofficial well to be honest their fanbase for gta online is 90% children who are younger than the game they are obsessed with and whales who spend every penny they earn on it.
Bethesda is way further down that list than you think. They support their modding community with free in-house modding tools, an extremely modifiable engine, and frequent job offers to the most talented and prolific modders. Bethesda also brought modding to consoles for free, which was an industry first. They also heavily discount the remasters and rereleases that they put out (Skyrim SE was free for existing owners and Skyrim AE was only $20 despite having far more than that value in terms of Creation Club content). I've found that 90% of the time people who think that Bethesda are anti-consumer are just idiots who can't tell the difference between their actions and the actions of ZeniMax and Bethesda Softworks. Or even better, they can't tell the difference between Bethesda Austin (a new studio setup just to develop Fallout 76) and Bethesda Maryland (the studio that makes the main TES games and Fallouts).

I have a bad feeling this is only the beginning. They’re going to go after other stuff too like removing many old missions and clothes, then locking them behind GTA+ or some other feature similar to car dealership.
They said they were only removing lesser used, old vehicles. But they even removed the stirling gt. A car they very recently added an hsw upgrade for. Making it one of the newest vehicles, one of the top 5 fastest top speed vehicles in the entire game and the second fastest car in its class for racing. I highly doubt its "lesser used" because of this hsw upgrade. Coincidentally they immediately put it in the vinewood car club, a brand new location that shows off a rotating series of cars, which you can test drive or buy for a discounted price. But you can only actually buy the cars if you have a gta+ subscription. This is a very obvious attempt by rockstar to create artificial scarcity. They remove a large amount of cars, many of which are actually lesser purchased. Then they occasionally add them back in for special events, etc, allowing them to use re-release old content, as if its new and make it rare and limited. Then when they make one of these cars available, players are more likely to either play a lot and grind to buy it, or spend real money because of fomo. Or the car you want is ony available in the car club for a limited time, so you either have to buy gta+ or miss out and hope it returns eventually some other way. This is honestly a disgusting move by rockstar, a blatant attempt to squeeze even more money out of a 10 year old game that has already been one of the most profitable games of all time.
Even if it was just "lesser used vehicles" they have no right to do this at all. It removes choice especially for newer players. Lots of lower price decent cars got removed for no damn reason.
The main problem is that people just keep playing no matter what Rockstar does. I don't see any reason for them to disappoint players like they always do, but I also realise that there aren't that many repercussions for them either.
They realized they have a monopoly over this entire genre. A genre that was one of the most popular during the original Xbox days. They can do literally anything they want and people will still play because every other developer is too broke or afraid to make a game like this.
Nah, after I realized all of that bs, I simply stopped and got into other games. Best decision I have made after wasting 700 hours trying to grind for idk, money? Eh it does not matter anymore.
Rockstar: we've removed lesser used cars to streamline the process Also Rockstar: allows cars removed to be sold in an exclusive club that makes old "favourites" available for sale.
Allow me to quote an animator "Removing split screen from Halo is like removing cars from Grand Theft Auto" Apparently both 343i and Rockstar heard that and thought "hey, why don't we do both?"
It's clear what their goal is when you look at the motorcycles - they removed every one that was less that $1,000,000. It wasn't the "lesser used" ones, it was the options that were too cheap for Rockstar.
Maybe I'm alone on this but the biggest reason I ever played any GTA release was to have a huge variety of vehicles with which I could commit unlimited felonies in a fictional and consequence-free environment. Everything else was to keep the experience moving along.
Yea honestly I'm sick of games having weird and obsolete super cars, I'd rather see a nissan d21 than some special package with a special production run of a Lamborghini
@@rageriustheoverlord7086 Lamborghini is obscure and obsolete but the Nissan only die hard car people really care about is well known? Did you do a whippet before typing that?
People love to give EA crap over Fifa and Battlefront 2, but this is more egregious than anything they've ever done. Rockstar is by far the most predatory company out there. They straight up abandoned Red Dead 2: Online simply because they couldn't figure out a way to nickle and dime players into oblivion like this
Yup it’s fucking sad af I love red dead absolutely loved both games and I completely dropped gta online like 5 or so years ago I think I played it one time on the Xbox one and was just tired of the nickel and dime practices they had in there grind this one mission out for 12 hours or just buy a $50 shark card for the same value if not more
Not to mention that they seem to use practices that most free to play games use to encourage players into spending more money. It's laughable that RDR2 online was abandoned because people didn't want to spend money on their dumb ideas and thus they deemed it unprofitable.
No they abandoned RD 2 Online because the single player trainers worked in multiplayer thanks to the way they coded the online segment of the game, effectively having no anti cheat at all turning the game in to a shit hole.
i also got a email i received that warned me of revoking my access to social club for a week when i only played rdr2 online once XD i quit playing their titles after that, however i went back into gta online just to see what it was like, nothing was changed, sadly i spent 100 to unlock the avenger but i have the game uninstalled now since years
Its very difficult to feel any level of excitement for GTA6 when you think about the kind of nonsense they've pulled over and over again in GTA Online to try and bleed players' wallets dry while making the actual gameplay experience worse. Why would we believe it's going to get anything but worse?
that would be insane but its most likely that they only removed the vehicles from the online sites, so it means they are still in the files and single player is probably ok
Just tested a few playlists today. The Mercenaries update has also "blacklisted" certain props in the Editor. Meaning that a lot of the races people play for content related stuff are now unplayable. *Claps slowly toward Rockstar.*
I just stated that they have removed props, meaning it is bad for content creators. I literally don't use freemode, I just play races that others have used. There a millions of created races that are broken now.
It's because they're not doing single player dlc, only online. These cars, flyable motorcycles, jets, and even new areas are all exclusive to gta online. We could have had a zombie single player dlc if people wouldn't have made this so valuable for rockstar. Don't just blame rockstar, blame the community
@@Unknown_Genius i thought that the dlc that had the werewolf and some other paranormal things had some pretty solid evidence in the code of single player zombie stuff? That's what i heard at least. Maybe it was going to be gta online, but i just can't get over how good of an idea it is to make a zombie apocalypse dlc for gta. Undead nightmare is one of the best dlcs I've ever played, and in a city filled with pedestrians and ways to mess around? It just seems perfect to me.
Important Edit: TIL you can't even steal some of the higher end NPC cars(like the Comet) and put a tracker on it via LS Customs to claim it as your own. You will get a prompt that "the vehicle is too hot to modify." What the fuck. As a GTAO racing tryhard, its very infuriating that they removed S tier cars that are only obtainable through the online websites. I doubt that the firetruck (wasn't removed) is used more than the Entity XF.

Im pretty sure R* also claimed it was an 'improvement' back when they limited how much you could get from a mission, as well as penalising you if you take less than 15 minutes to complete a mission. Even though most missions back then were 50% a drive to the other side of the map. Removing the Coil (etc) might have been enough in their eyes, since now they can claim they are not making money off of the models.
Muta explaining the way of buying and how the game works for people who’ve never played the game is awesome. He breaks things down for all types of people!
I'm gonna put this into numbers for anybody curious as to how bad this really is. All values will be rounded to the nearest 5 for legibility and to account for human error be it mine or the GTA wiki, which I've used for my calculations as they already had everything sorted neatly into categories, and thusly, shouldn't be treated as concrete fact but rather approximations. There were about 455 cars in GTA Online that you could purchase, by my calculations, barring cars that have their own garage slots (Khanjali, Thruster, MOC) direct upgrades (ie. Benny's Cars or LWB cars) or sidegrades (Arena War Cars) to another vehicle. This update, meanwhile removed about 195 of those cars, leaving us with about 260 cars, give or take. This is about 40% of the cars that were deleted. Most of which were general usage cars, your sports cars, off-roaders, SUVs, what have you. So, let's take this number into consideration, and let's look at a different set of numbers. The garage spaces available to a player. You can own 10 properties, plus one which can have 50 slots, with the other ones having 10, leaving us with 150 spaces for cars from just the main properties. Now let's add the office garage, which is another 60 spots. Bringing us to a nice, clean, 210. From there, we also got, and I may have a number wrong here or there so bear with me. Agency: 21 cars (231) Clubhouse: 10 bikes, which we won't count as being reserved like the Khanjali and such, since you can put any bike in there (241) Nightclub: 1 on the top floor, with 3 garages of ten each, making 31 (272) As you can see, we've already passed the amount of purchasable cars. Let's keep going though, since we can. Arcade: 10 more cars (282) Facility: 10 more cars, discounting exclusive parking (292) MOC: 1 (293) Workshop: 30, discounting execlusive parking for the Cereberus, Scarab and Sasquatch. (313) Auto Shop: 10 (323) For the sake of it, I will include the 2 spots for the Opp Mk 2 and the Submersible Cars in the Terrorbyte and Kosatka respectively, since those cars can go in other garage spots and therefore, the spots here save garage space in main garages. (325) So out of 325 spots for cars, you can only fill 260 of them with any car from the website now. Make do with this information as you please. Edited due to a counting error with the 50 car garage.
In their mind it's fair to add around 8 new" cars and remove 180+ "unpopular" cars like one of the best most popular bikes in the game that costs 15k but keep those 2mill+ bikes that are slower that it

Seeing all these developers one by one descend into a rapidly scummier and scummier mindset, even the once loved and well respected ones is honestly kind of depressing. Almost every longtime, well respected studio has made some shady, scummy or just stupid decision, and some of the giants that used to be the best are falling even harder than the rest of them. Honest, fair devs that are passionate about their projects and moderately competent are legitimately hard to find at this point and it's really sad to see this happen.

Keep in mind, some of these vehicles like the Infernus have been in the game since 2013. Honestly I feel MTXs should be banned from games as majority of the games that have em basically turn into pay to win. However there are some games out there where the MTXs are pointless and act only as a means to shortcut your way up in the event you fuck up. GTA I stopped playing when lobbies were filled with 5 year olds on oppressor MK2s and random death match lobbies lead to unfair parkour maps where a 5 year old would just camp in the APC killing everyone forcing you to become a bad sport for quitting a match with a timer set to 45 minutes. This was 6 years ago so I have a growing hate towards GTA for how the game is. Adding a pointless subscription (like there isn't enough of those damn things already) is a sure fair way kill the game. Comet Retro Custom is probably the reason why it got removed from Benny's as well, i mean that car looks pretty damn good so i assume it will be in category of "highly sought after" meaning it will be seen in Vinewood club someday to give justification for GTA+ subscription. If Elegy wasn't a free car it would have most likely got vaulted as well just because it can be turned to Elegy Retro Custom. My prediction is that all "awesome" cars will be featured in Vinewood while all "peasant" cars will be tossed in Simeon's and Luxury Autos.
an experience improvement would probably dividing the shark card price by 15× or so. Combine that with setting every single item in the game on sale for 10% of the listed price.
I'm just surprised people are still pumping money into this over a decade later. Thinking back to when I still played GTA Online feels like a really long time ago.
Because it was. I was starting high school in 2013. They've realized they have a monopoly over these kinds of games because nobody else will dare to make one.
There are people who saw nothing wrong with Fallout 1st and outright defended it, so I think its safe to say that trying to understand it is a losing battle at this point
Another point is that if you win the cars now, you got them for free and can't sell them if you don't like it and want to trade up or out. If you want to invest that money into anything in the game you just can't. So they effectively made the cars more difficult to get and cost real life money while simultaneously tanking their in-game value and applicability. Thanks a lot.

I have about 8 pages of races saved from the Social Club site, and almost half of them are now unplayable because some props was replaced because they were "ineligible to be used and was replaced, resulting in a chance that the race is unfinishable" resulting in props being replaced by a random fence prop. Not to mention a new bug where avengers and MOCs are being replaced, resulting in the DELETION OF CARS STORED THERE. To avoid the deletion, you can't even bring out the cars or else they will despawn and disappear. The way to see if you have been affected is to see if the MOC cab or the Avenger was returned to default modifications. If it is, don't enter the avenger/MOC and just don't mess with it until the glitch has been patched. I will assume that all of the cars being removed from the site is a result in the braindead idea that they can either rerelease them at a higher price because of a previous bug where they tried to change the prices of some vehicles and that ended in failure, so removing them would be a better idea so they can add them back at a new price. OR the other idea was to give them back to us through methods like showcase cars at Vinewood Car Club, LS Car Meet, Simeon's Dealership, etc.
just checked the comments and seen the bug with the MOC has been patched. I doubt that since they rarely ever release patches unless its for the event change. but I'll do some searching to see if that is correct

Rockstar is quite the company
Fuck Rockstar games. ong
Nooooooo really??? I never thought the millions of people who play this game would care

Hey, at least they can't re-release it like Bethesda did to Skyrim. Right? ... Right? ... God I fucking hope not...

"MOMMY! need credit card for ten year old game please. gta +!"
Maybe _you_ do. The only Rockstar game I'll touch with a ten foot pole anymore is Red Dead Redemption 2, and only ever story mode.
They realized they have a monopoly over this entire genre. A genre that was one of the most popular during the original Xbox days. They can do literally anything they want and people will still play because every other developer is too broke or afraid to make a game like this.

It's clear what their goal is when you look at the motorcycles - they removed every one that was less that $1,000,000. It wasn't the "lesser used" ones, it was the options that were too cheap for Rockstar.

Idk EAs Star Wars themed casino aimed at kids got them in legal trouble. IMO that takes the cake as the scummiest company
Imagine replaying that 2nd mission in GTA V and now you have drive an invisible car as Franklin and Lamar.

The fact they abandoned RDO says enough about how much GTA V money changed them.
Just tested a few playlists today. The Mercenaries update has also "blacklisted" certain props in the Editor. Meaning that a lot of the races people play for content related stuff are now unplayable. *Claps slowly toward Rockstar.*
You would still play this, even if they remove 90% of the content, let's be honest.

As someone who hasn't played GTA online since the game came out, I'm shocked there were even this many cars in the game
It's because they're not doing single player dlc, only online. These cars, flyable motorcycles, jets, and even new areas are all exclusive to gta online. So they removed the A in GTA? Outstanding. Truly brilliant.
Agency: 21 cars (231)
Clubhouse: 10 bikes, which we won't count as being reserved like the Khanjali and such, since you can put any bike in there (241)
Nightclub: 1 on the top floor, with 3 garages of ten each, making 31 (272)
As you can see, we've already passed the amount of purchasable cars. Let's keep going though, since we can.
Arcade: 10 more cars (282)
Facility: 10 more cars, discounting exclusive parking (292)
MOC: 1 (293)
Workshop: 30, discounting execlusive parking for the Cereberus, Scarab and Sasquatch. (313)
Auto Shop: 10 (323)
For the sake of it, I will include the 2 spots for the Opp Mk 2 and the Submersible Cars in the Terrorbyte and Kosatka respectively, since those cars can go in other garage spots and therefore, the spots here save garage space in main garages. (325)
So out of 325 spots for cars, you can only fill 260 of them with any car from the website now. Make do with this information as you please.
Edited due to a counting error with the 50 car garage.

Oh dear. I've seen these symptoms before. It's the dreaded "Game Company that used to be cool but is now a shell of what we loved and will soon be dead from their own greed". I'm afraid it's 100% fatal.
It's like getting bitten by a zombie. The only potential salvation is to amputate the affected limb.
It's a damn shame the bite is always on the neck, though.
There would be something so satisfying about rockstar releasing GTA6… and it’s trash and after the hype dies down no one buys it anymore and it’s forgotten. Imagine rockstars feeble attempts at trying to save themselves from their own doing but it’s already to late, they are EA.
Rockstar games has been showing these systems since 2016.
Keep in mind, some of these vehicles like the Infernus have been in the game since 2013.
If they really want to run with that narrative that these vehicles were "lesser used" then it speaks volumes for just how oversaturated GTA Online became.
Really it's just them wanting to lock these cheaper vehicles behind a pay paywall because people could get them too easily for free.
You can't get them for free because you can't store them in your garage. You'd still need to buy them but yeah they're significantly cheaper
@@gotworc Well, that's what I meant. You'd still be paying in-game currency but you wouldn't be giving R* any real money. Obviously Take Two saw that as a problem and had them do something about it.
Funny thing: they remove "lesser used cars" then added a new bicycle into the game (drip feed).
R* logic.

There’s gotta be a way to class action against micro transactions and in game purchases, the more I think about it, the more I see ways they’ll be able to get around anything the less I think it’s possible, but some geniuses exist.
No your just dumb, a class action against micro transactions? You would literally get rid of in game currencies for A LOT of games and ruin the user experience for millions of people. I don’t understand what your trying to argue here.
Honestly I'm going to leave a negative review on steam as I got it as a stress test for my rig and I fairly enjoy doing the single player missions. when they mention they removed cars for streamlining the browsing experience, they removed the Comet which is on Legendary Motorsports & Benny's... and Benny's isn't even cluttered it has very few cars and instead of removing the comet on just Legendary Motorsports they removed it on both websites. It shows they have other incentives in mind

Another point is that if you win the cars now, you got them for free and can't sell them if you don't like it and want to trade up or out. I hope GTA 6 still has single-player offline sandbox mode where I see a car I like and can just take it, like with every other GTA game. Amazing, that is simply genius. Very “intelligent design.”
You'll still have the cars. They were removed for purchase, not deleted from the game outright. That said, removing 200 cars is definitely removing many that players wanted to buy eventually, so it's fucked up either way.

How is what you said ironic?
@@gfdgf599 It’s ironic because the reasoning is to supposedly streamline browsing which sorta implies they’re less used by the community. Meanwhile my most used cars are in the list that’s no longer sold on the in-game stores.
Rockstar: "You know what the players will love? Removing content from the decade old game they're still playing some reason. They'll love that."
Crazy thing is that if people are playing and buying that subscription right now just think of what will happen with gta 6 anyway to milk that $$$.
This is just like the transition from Gran Turismo Sport to Gran Turismo 7! You could buy any car at any time without invitations and separate limited time dealerships in Gran Turismo Sport. In Gran Turismo 7 some cars have been added a sense of “exclusivity”, requiring invitations and some of them have limited time access through “special” dealerships! Not to mention some cars have received an insane credits price hike to add a sense of “realism” which ruined the appeal of Gran Turismo.
That sounds like the worst thing to ever experience in a game…. Idk if that changed but you saved me money
@@grimfandango7135 It hasn’t changed but they have updated their credits pricing for new cars added with monthly patches and now they have unlocked parts and tuning that used to be locked down to a lottery style daily bonus system. after thousands of hours in ps3/4 gta online, this is why i payed 12 dollars for a pc mod menu 💀
I already couldn't get over not being able to keep the autos I grandly thefted in a Grand Theft Auto game. Like, wtf.
Now, people can't even get the fancy cars with the excessively grinding non-fun things that "reward" barely any money. Though I honestly can't tell what's worse, the absurd amount of grind that used to be required to get anything, or removing the things people would want to excessively grind for in order to force people to spend real-world money instead.
Glad I noped out of that game after only a few hours.
Same…I finished the story (I still prefer the San Andreas and Vice City ones) then I played like 5 hours online, got bored and never played it again 😅
not to mention most silent heists are now broken where you can sometimes kill no one and you get a body found
should probably mention that some of the updates they did was to finally give us some of the Arena props in the Creator mode that was locked behind the arena specific creator, but in the process bugged out some of the already available props to be used.
